2. Para empezar
• Turn in completed poem “yo soy…”
• Use tape to hang your poem on the wall.
• Read your classmates’ poems.

3. Subject pronouns *notes
• Replaces the name or title of a person or thing
and acts as the subject of the verb.
• Divided into three groups: 1st, 2nd, 3rd person
singular plural
1st yo I nosotros/nos we/we (all
otras girls)
2nd tú (fam) you ustedes you (plural)
(fam)
usted you ustedes you (plural)
(formal) (formal)
3rd él/ella he/she ellos/ellas they/they (all
girls)

4. ¡Importante! *notes
• In the Americas, ustedes is used as the plural
for both tú and usted.
• In Spain, however, vosotros/vosotras are
used as the plural of tú, and ustedes is only
used as the plural of usted.
Usted = Ud. or Vd. Ustedes = Uds. or Vds.

5. • If you are still having trouble trying to
figure out which pronoun you use for
what, check this out:
• anything + yo = nosotros
• anything + tú = ustedes/vosotros
• anything + él, ella = ellos/ellas
• 2+ names = ellos/ellas
• All you have to do is find one pronoun in
the singular column, then slide straight
across to the plural column!

6. The present tense of ser *notes
• Ser = to be
• Irregular verb that does not follow regular
patterns that most verbs follow.
• Conjugate: to write or say a verb in all its forms.
