This document provides descriptions of various shots and imagery from the television show True Blood. This are the interiors of the Merindol Colony in 2137ad after the Climate Change Collapse and the Apocalipse Wars. Merindol is a small Colony in the Italian Alps where there are around 4000 humans. The Colony values mainly around meritocracy and selection by effort.

Kurgan is a russian expatriate that is secretly in love with Sonia Contado. Henry is a british soldier that took refuge in Merindol Colony in 2137ad. He is the lover of Sonia Contado.
2. This establishing shot of a dark, gothic house reminds
us of the horror genre and adds creepy, eery feel to
the clip, with an added dark filter. This clip only reveals
an area of the house leaving mystery.
3. This close up represents the vampires when
hunting and shows a predator in its environment.
It is dark and eery. Reptiles are cold blooded
killers and this is also another link to blood.
4. A child is always represented as
something soft and delicate. This shows
the vampire or blood element which is
also stated in the title. It is savage the
child’s teeth imply it is still teething,
creating a youthful sense.
5. These constant quick crossovers joining the
clips are of extreme closeups under a
microscope, reinforcing the DNA, biological
elements to the show.
6. This once again seems to be some sort
of substance under a microscope
There is a filter and it is red and shows
the idea of blood again.
7. As well as the horror connotations there are
also sexual ones and this shot refers to the
shows more romantic side, hinting on horror
romance. It is medium close up and does
not reveal the face.
8. Christianity and the church are also
codes of vampires and demons and
this reenforces that idea of there being
darkness.
9. The whole sequence has a retro 1990’s
style to the filming and music. This
theatre sign also represents the genre of
the programme stating the word “fangs”.
10. This dark shot of a partially naked
women hints at the sexual content
and also hints at beauty as a theme.
Once again we can’t see her face and
she is anonymous.
11. This dead fox rotting implies the idea
of death and time passing. It is a
close up of its face and hollowed out
eyes, an anonymous figure.
12. The whole sequence has a rural,
hillbilly, retro style to it and this shot
reinforces that. They are seductivly
dancing and the colour red is being
shone on them. The colour of blood.
13. All the second names are in bold
when they appear and are
presented in a rustic sort of way.
The slides are very jittery and
are not consistant.
