6. WHAT IS THE NEXT A STAND ALONE SUBJECT?
All slaves should consider their masters as
worthy of special respect so that God’s name
and our teaching will not be slandered. The
ones who have masters who are believers
should not think less of them because they are
brothers but should serve them even better
because the people who benefit from their
service are believers and therefore beloved.
Teach and encourage these things.

as worthy of special respect /
2. so that God’s name [will not be slandered] /
3. and our teaching will not be slandered.
/

STAND ALONE INFORMATION
5. but should serve them even better /
6. because the people who benefit from
their service are believers and therefore
beloved.
7. Teach and encourage these things.
19.
20. 1. The kingdom presence of God comes when
slaves make a decision to honour
2. The presence of that honour is the
presence of God
3. The presence of that honour is consistent
with Christian teaching about the nature of
God.
4. Slaves should not take advantage of a
master who is a brother.
21. 5. Slaves should honour believing masters
even more
6. The more should come from the
environment of reciprocated love
7. Because these things are kingdom of
God and not kingdom of this world they
need to be taught and encouraged.
22. WHO are
the SLAVES
and WHO are
the MASTERS
in OUR WORLD
And what is the Jesus-looking
kingdom principle here ?
23.
24. 1. Non-Christian masters would have
experienced honour from slaves
regardless of how they were treated and
when there was no direct benefit for the
slave.
2. Christian masters would have had the
opportunity to work as brothers in the
cause of the kingdom of God as
represented by the household.
25. 3. The power of human status to separate people
and alienate them on the basis of class, status
and privilege would have been destroyed.
4. The households of the empire would have
shone the light of the glory of God and the
communities would have seen something
happening that was rarely or never seen in any
other way.
5. The kingdom of God would have come and the
long walk toward the end of slavery would
have begun.
