3. The novels of the nineteenth century
were written at a time when there was
confidence and stability in British
society. But the twentieth-century novels
are influenced by the changes in beliefs
and political ideas after the events of
the First World War and the
disappearance of the British Empire.

5. The first world war is considered the most important
factor which leads to change in 20th century , the war
began in 1914 and lasted until 1918 it continued for four
years.
The war was so horrible and leads to death of millions of
English people , it is also left the Britain Empire so weak to
control its colonies.
After the war people as a whole were recovering from the
shock and hoping that things would get back to normal.

communication and information technology beyond the
reach of any 19th-century imagination so far as magnitude
is concerned.
It was a century of affluence in the West, without
