When historians and common people alike look back at the Second World War, one person
stands out among all of the people who had a part, Adolf Hitler. His atrocities and crimes are well
documented across the world but one question which has many people puzzled is, why did the
people of Germany support Hitler and his Nazi regime? Also how much were the German people to
blame for the events that occurred during the National Socialist Party's regime? Were they just to
blame as Hitler himself or did they have no fault in what was going on? According to Gotz Aly and
his book, Hitler's Beneficiaries, the answerz to the former question is simpler that one might think.

Furthermore,Germany was completely destroyed as a result of World War I. Cities were totally
leveled and everywhere the common German saw, there were signs of how the government had
failed them. In a sense this lead to a blow to national pride. Thus the German people were
desperate and desperately wanted to escape their plight. It is often said that when times are rough
people often turn to more radical leaders or solutions. This was exactly the case with Germany
after World War I. This set the stage for Hitler to rise to power. He was a very charismatic leader
and a great public speaker. He was able to stir up the people's emotions towards the former leaders

former glory days. This was music to the peoples ears. Germany was a huge power before World
War I but it was now reduced to a weak state. He promised to fix the country's problems. He
promised to rebuild the nation, and rebuild the economy which any common German at the time
would want. He was able to tell the people exactly what they wanted to hear since he was a
politician but people supported him and liked him for his energy and charisma. If one examines the

Causes of World War 2 The causes of World War 2 was something that happened during the
1900's. Many people believed that this all happened for a reason, which it did. Although, there
were many reasons why World War 2 had started. Some were, The League of Failure of Nations,
Pearl Harbor, and The Holocaust. First of all, in order to fully understand World War 2, people

World War two has to be the most famous war of all time. It was the largest, most tragic,
horrifying of them all, and the first to have millions of people killed in the duration of it. Is it just
me, or does it seem rather ironic that the very thing that was meant to solve the first World War is
the most important of all of the causes of the second? And that the people who were supposed to
fix the problems that that war caused were only really helping another along? The "war to end all

the war did not start sooner than it did! The main reason for Hitler?s coming into power was his
promise to bring Germany back up from its fall after World War One. The Great Depression was
upon them, and it was bad enough that people were burning their money to keep them warm
because of how worthless it was. Everything else just cost too much. It was obvious that the
country was hurting so very much, and they would have taken any way out that they could find. It
was a horrid thing, and it lets us all know how people will act upon being in the midst of economic

From the Treaty of Versailles, to the rise of Hitler, and the failure of the League of Nations, there
were many causes that lead up to World War II. World War I left Germany with many shortfalls,
thus leaving them in the hands of the Treaty of Versailles. Rather unfair of a Treaty, this left
Germany once again looking for another way out. A country resented by many had no other choice
but to feel optimistic toward Adolph Hitlers empty promises... making it substantially simple for
him to gain power so quick. Throw in the Great Depression, and you have a vastly unstable world,

Hitler promised Germany that he would build up their army, totally re–arm them. He believed he
also had the right to militarize the Rhineland, and place troops on his own frontier. Building up their
army would in turn provide Germany with many jobs lost in the Great Depression. Austria was also
economically unstable at the time. Hitler also promised that he would unite with Austria, and to
solve their problems as well.
A third promise of Hitlers was that he would provide more living space. Hitler believed that
