Module 1 Introduction to systems thinkingThink2Impact
The document provides an introduction to systems thinking. It discusses how systems thinking views complex situations holistically rather than focusing on individual parts. A system is defined as consisting of interconnected elements that interact to serve a common purpose. In contrast, a collection lacks interactions between parts. The document outlines why systems thinking is needed to address today's complex and dynamic issues, and gives examples of applying systems thinking in various fields like business, health, and education.

Blogs are not a better form of journalism than traditional media for three key reasons:
1) Credibility - Blogs are written by amateurs who are not fully qualified and can report inaccurate or misleading information, as shown by incidents where blogs spread harmful rumors.
2) Biased information - Blog content is subjectively written and can spread one-sided views that influence public opinion in a negative way.
3) Inappropriate content - Blogs contain unfiltered harmful content like inappropriate advertisements that children are exposed to and can negatively impact their development.
Studying abroad has both advantages and disadvantages related to educational and emotional conditions. The advantages include gaining wider experience in different cultures that helps develop understanding of the world. Studying abroad also provides opportunities to improve foreign language skills and learn how to get along with different types of people. However, there are also disadvantages like feeling loneliness when living in a new environment away from familiar places and people. Studying abroad can also cause psychological confusion in personal identity for some, especially young students. Managing the disadvantages requires being prepared to adapt to the new foreign environment.
This presentation discusses cultural diversity in Korean society. It first defines cultural diversity as the quality of diverse or different cultures, as opposed to monoculture. It then notes that Korean society is becoming increasingly diverse, as shown through statistics on international marriages and the cultural backgrounds of students. However, Korea's response to this trend has emphasized assimilating non-Koreans into Korean culture through education, rather than embracing diversity, potentially leading to ethnocentrism. The presentation argues that Korea needs to improve its understanding and perception of cultural diversity in order to truly respect other cultures and build a society with global citizenship.
Studying abroad provides benefits of improved multicultural communication abilities and contributing to collective knowledge. It allows students to learn languages more effectively within their cultural contexts, developing understanding of foreign cultures that enhances conversation quality. Studying abroad also enhances collective intelligence by adding diversity when students from different backgrounds share opinions and experiences, recognizing differences in desirable ways and spreading this intelligence further. If collective intelligence incorporates cultural and political diversity, it could facilitate more cooperative international negotiations and progress the world in a more peaceful direction.
This document discusses cultural diversity in Korean society. It notes an increase in international marriages and more diverse cultural backgrounds among students. While some support multiculturalism, others argue that all should assimilate to Korean culture. The document suggests addressing problems from increased diversity through solutions that promote social integration and cultural exchange rather than demanding sole assimilation.
200 Pound Beauty is a romantic comedy that challenges lookism through the story of an overweight singer who undergoes plastic surgery to lose weight. Though talented, the protagonist Han-na hides her abilities due to discrimination against her appearance. A male musician who initially judges based on looks changes his view after interacting with Han-na. The film brought attention to actress Ah-joong Kim and her role helped launch her career despite requiring her to gain weight for the role. Overall, the film suggests society can change negative perceptions and promotes judging people based on their character rather than their appearance.
Two rival universities in the field of education finalChristina Suh
Two prestigious universities, Harvard University and the University of Cambridge, are compared in terms of their admissions policies and educational systems. While both value academic achievement, Harvard also considers extracurricular talents and character strengths in admissions. Cambridge places more emphasis on academic potential. Regarding education, Harvard aims for a broad liberal arts education while Cambridge focuses students immediately in their major. Cambridge also utilizes a tutorial system of small group supervision that provides direct feedback on student work. In conclusion, the differences between the universities reflect the contrasting US liberal arts model and UK focus model, with Harvard seen as more practical and Cambridge as more academic.
