This document provides an agenda and instructions for various classroom activities for the day. In social studies, students are asked to finish mapping Ancient Greece and read about Greek myths and gods. They are to choose one god or hero to research and create an illustrated picture about. In memoir writing, students are prompted to brainstorm memories and choose one to write about, answering questions to develop the structure including the beginning, climax, and ending of the memory event.

7. Greek Myths Please visit this site. http://www. mythweb .com/gods/Hermes.html Choose the ‘GODS’ or ‘HEROS’ section. Choose 1-2 gods and/or heroes to read about. Read the full text. Create a picture about one of the gods or heroes you read about. These pictures will be hung on the wall, so please use as many mediums as you like and make it look nice—no stick figures--. Write 2-3 facts about the god or hero that will help people viewing the picture understand the basics of that god or hero.

8. Memoir If you have not already, finish your Heart Map Brainstorm 5-8 events/memories, from the Heart Map if you like, to write a memoir about. Once you have brainstormed, please choose one to use for your memoir.

9. Memoir Answer the following questions about your memory to help you begin to build the structure for your memoir. How did this event begin? What started it? For example, if my memory was my first trip plane ride, the event may have started by my mother wanting us to go visit my grandmother in Florida. What was the middle of the event-- the part that you feel is the most important, the climax? For example, the moment the plane took off. What was the ending of this event? For example, we landed safely, and all I wanted to do was go back onto the plane and go for another ride.
