YOGI GOVT CONTINUES INFRA PUSH
Targets to build 19,000
km of roads in two years
First India Bureau
Lucknow: To pave
the way for all-round
development of vil-
lages and remote ar-
eas, the Yogi govern-
ment has targeted
construction of 19,000
km of roads over the
next two years under
the Pradhan Mantri
Gram Sadak Yojana
(PMGSY).
Aiming at the eco-
nomic transforma-
tion of the villages
and to ensure seam-
less connectivity in
such areas, the roads
will be built at a cost
of Rs 15,000 crore. UP
under the leadership
of Yogi Adityanath is
consistently on the
path of development
and its rural popula-
tion is an integral
part of this growth
trajectory. To make
UP the number one
economy of the coun-
try, the state govt is
sparing no efforts by
improving the infra-
structure.
To realize the above
objective, the work of
connecting villages
with roads is pro-
gressing on a war-foot-
ing. This will not only
ease vehicular conges-
tion in such areas but
also will generate em-
ployment opportuni-
ties and will enable
the farmers to trans-
port food grains, vege-
tables, and milk to the
market places with
ease, thereby increas-
ing their income. The
govt aims to complete
the construction of
8000 km of the road in
the next six months. It
is worth mentioning
that, UP before 2017,
used to lack the facili-
ty of reaching villages
by roads. Owing to the
sustained efforts of
the Yogi govt to im-
prove the road infra-
structure.
Rae Bareli(PTI): An
18-year-old woman was
allegedly killed by her
father who slit her
throat in Khushurupur
village on Friday, police
said.
The village comes un-
der Gurbuxganj Police
Station area of the dis-
trict. The incident hap-
pened when Jyoti, the
victim, had gone to give
food to her father in his
agriculture field, police
said. Vijay Kumar, her
father, slit her throat
with a knife, Additional
Superintendent of Po-
lice Vishwajeet Srivas-
tava said.
It is said that the
woman was having an
affair with a man and
her father disapproved
of their relationship,
police said.
When the woman’s
mother raised an
alarm, villagers rushed
to the spot and in-
formed the police about
the incident. Vikas Ku-
mar has been nabbed,
police said. They have
taken the body of the
deceased in possession
and sent it for post mor-
tem examination. Su-
perintendent of Police
Vishwajeet Srivastava
said that a case has
been registered on the
complaint of the moth-
er and an investigation
is on.
YOGI: 1494 COMMUNITY
TOILETS IN 100 DAYS
Lucknow: Keeping up with the promise of
making UP clean and healthy, the state Govt is
sparing no efforts to make the state free from
open defecation. The Yogi Govt, in its second
innings, has further intensified the ‘Swachh
Bharat Mission’ to reach the benefits of the
scheme to every village and every poor. A big
target has been set to construct community
toilets and Izzatghar in every village. To ac-
complish this, an action plan is being prepared
to build 1,494 community toilets and 2.41
lakh Izzatghars in villages in the first 100 days
of the govt. In this sequence, the Panchayati
Raj Department is playing an important role
in realizing the dream of the Swachh Bharat
Mission. It is noteworthy that the state gov-
ernment’s plan to construct house-to-house
toilets, which is part of the campaign to make
the villages clean, has had a great impact in
the last five years.

‘MODI HAI TO MUMKIN HAI…’
UNTOLD STORIES OF PM MODI - PART 1
WHY PM MODI CHOSE TO WAIT IN THE
PARLIAMENT LOBBY FOR 20 MINUTES?
ere’s an account of the first
hand experiences of PM
Modi’s humility and commit-
ment towards parliamentary
procedures as narrated by
Cabinet Minister Arjun Ram
Meghwal. The Minister es-
corted PM Modi from Lok
Sabha to Rajya Sabha cham-
bers on the day of election of
Deputy Chairman of Rajya
Sabha. As part of Parliamen-
tary procedure, the PM was
not supposed to sit in Rajya
Sabha while the election pro-
ceedings were on. Yet being
the Prime Minister he could
have done that as an excep-
tion. But PM Modi still chose
to abide by the protocol and
preferred to wait in the lobby
for about half an hour.
There was a flurry of activ-
ity in the Parliament on the
day as the election for Deputy
Chairman was being held in
Rajya Sabha. Harivanshji had
been nominated by Janata Dal
(United) for the post although
he had been member of Rajya
Sabha for only a short time.
Now, according to Parlia-
mentary procedures, if the
Prime Minister is a member
of Rajya Sabha, he/she sits in
the House from the very be-
ginning of the proceedings,
and if the PM is member of
Lok Sabha instead, then he or
she joins the House after the
election proceedings are over
and is the first to speak a few
words about the newly elect-
ed Deputy Chairman.
It was around 3 pm on 9 Au-
gust, 2018 and I was fortunate
to have been given the duty of
escorting the PM from Lok
Sabha to the Upper House. As
I reached, PM Modi asked me
if the election proceedings
were over. I replied, “Sir, it will
take 5-10 minutes more”. The
PM then asked me to keep
trackof theproceedingsonTV
and to inform him as soon as
they were over. I entered the
PM’s chamber after a few min-
utesandinformedhimthatthe
proceedings would be over by
thetimewereachRajyaSabha.
My walk down to the Upper
House accompanying the PM
began and just as we were
about to cross the lobby, we
got the information that the
proceedings were still in pro-
gress. That’s when PM Modi
decided to halt in the lobby
and sat down on a chair, wait-
ing patiently for the right
time to go in. Immediately the
Marshal came and said “Sir,
you are the PM. You can go in.
You are allowed.”
PM Modi, hearing this,
posed a short and simple ques-
tion,“What’stheprotocol?”He
furthersaid,“IamaLokSabha
member.ALokSabhamember
can attend election proceed-
ings in Rajya Sabha but not as
Prime Minister.” The Marshal
then checked the Rule Book
and said “
As a member of Lok
Sabha,thePMdoesn’thavethe
righttositduringRajyaSabha
proceedingsbuthemayattend
if the Chair makes an excep-
tion for him.”
“Why should I make an ex-
ception for myself ? I don’t
wish to break any rules,” and
our Prime Minister contin-
ued to sit where he was.
This exchange that Naren-
dra Modi had with the Mar-
shal had a great impact on
me. For about 20 minutes, he
and I talked about diverse
topics while people kept barg-
ing in asking him to come and
sit in Rajya Sabha. But no one
could budge Modiji from his
resolve. He equated his situa-
tion with someone waiting at
the crossing for the red light
to turn green and said he
would stay where he was
while the light was still red.
Those 20 minutes taught
valuable lessons to all those
whocameintouchwiththePM
while he waited on the humble
chair outside the Rajya Sabha
with stoic and hermit-like pa-
tience. In the meanwhile, Hari-
vansh Singhji was elected Dep-
uty Chairman and everyone
congratulated him. The corri-
dors were abuzz with talks of
Narendra Modi’s forbearance
andallegiancetohisdutiesand
to parliamentary procedures.
This incident will remain
etched in the memories of all
those fortunate to be part of
the edifying experience in-
stilling in them the impor-
tance of adhering to Parlia-
mentary traditions and rules,
irrespective of one’s position.

MAN OF THE MOMENT
ssociated with the Sangh family of Guja-
rat, Alkaben Bakshi found a saviour in
PM Modi who was then serving as a
Sangh Pracharak, when she lost her hus-
band in 1982. Alkaben brings to us her
story about the gentle and compassionate
side of Narendra Modi that illumines the
fact that the daughters of the Sangh family always
have his back in adversity
.
“When I lost my husband in 1982 in a gruesome
accident, I was devastated. At the time I was living
at Maninagar in Ahmedabad while my parents were
in Vadodra. The Sangh office was located in Dhor
Bazaar and Narendra Bhai used to reside in the of-
fice premises. As soon as he received the news about
the accident, he rushed to Maninagar to console me
and my family in the hour of grief. Narendra Bhai
immediately took charge of the ornaments and cash
in the house, and my husband’s bike and had them
placed safely in the Sangh office. All these belong-
ings were handed over to me by Narendra Bhai after
about ten days when the last rites had been per-
formed. The words of compassion and wisdom he
spoke to me at that time still ring in my ears. He
asked me to keep all the ornaments safely to secure
my daughter’s future.
Even now when I am in luck and get to meet Modi-
ji, he inquires about my well-being and blesses me.
When I was in dire straits and was running pillar to
posttohavethemedicalandaccidentclaimprocessed,
he sent in a request to Harish Patelji, who was a sen-
ior lawyer at Gujarat High Court at the time. My case
was handled by Harishji and after his death, by his
son and after the judgement was pronounced, they
did not charge me a single penny for fighting my case.
It is an assurance that I can render based on my
personal experiences that under the umbrella care
of Narendra Bhai, the daughters of the Sangh fam-
ily have little to fear because their brother is always
there, looking after them.”

Pune (ANI): Prime
Minister Narendra
Modi on Friday called
for reducing “slavery to
foreign goods” as India
celebrate 75 years of In-

Inaugurating the
Jain International
Trade Organisation’s
‘JITO Connect 2022’

stress should be on the
‘vocal for local’ mantra
and reducing the use of
foreign goods.
He asked Jain Inter-
national Trade Organi-
sation to focus on the
‘vocal for local’ mantra
during the ‘Azadi ka
Amrit Mahotsav’ cele-
brations.
“We have to reduce
dependence on foreign
products. Find new des-
tinations for export;
create awareness about
the same in local mar-
kets. There should be
products with zero de-
fects and zero effects on
environment,” he said.
“Today the country is
encouraging talent,
trade and technology as
much as possible. Today
the country is register-
ing dozens of start-ups
every day, creating a
unicorn every week,”
Prime Minister Naren-
dra Modi said while ad-
dressing the event.

The proposal is at an
advanced stage before

will help in further
strengthening the air
defence of the country
against aerial attacks

The development is
coming at a time when
the Indian Army’s

The results have been

A28-year-old woman, who had
accused a Delhi government
official of raping her, has been
arrested for being a member of
a gang involved in honey-
trapping people and extorting
money from them, police said
on Friday. The two male
accomplices of the woman too
have been arrested from Greater
Noida, the police said, adding
they have identified some other
gang members and are trying to

taken his pictures and videos in
a compromising position in a
hotel room for blackmailing and
extorting money from him in
March, the officials said. On
Friday, the woman and her two
associates, aged 25 and 26
years, were arrested and Rs

SC ORDERS
EVICTION OF
ELDERLY
COUPLE FROM
OLD AGE HOME
IN LUCKNOW
The Supreme Court on Friday
ordered the eviction of an
elderly couple from an old age
home in Lucknow while noting that
they were causing disturbance to
their fellow inmates. The court said
the inmates in the old age home
are licensees and are expected to
maintain a minimum level of
discipline and good behaviour and
not to cause disturbance to their
fellow inmates who are also senior
citizens. The top court said the
administration of the old age home
is at liberty to terminate the license
and ask the inmate to vacate the
room allotted to them if a parent is
the cause of disruption of peace of
other inmates. If one parent is the
cause of disruption of peace for
the other 12 inmates in the old age
home, the administration of the old
age home is at liberty to terminate
the license and ask the inmate to
vacate the room allotted to them.
Even if the organizers of the old
age home are not able to meet the
expectation or requirements of the
plaintiffs, that would not confer a
cause to the plaintiffs to disturb the
other inmates. The order came on
an appeal filed by Samarpan
Varishtha Jan Parisar challenging
the order of the Allahabad High
Court which had restrained the old
age home from evicting the old
couple residing there. The apex
court said as a licensee, the elderly
couple cannot seek an injunction to
stay in the old age home unless
they allow other inmates a peaceful
co-existence. —PTI

RUBAL SHEKHAWAT, A
STUNNING DIVA FROM JAIPUR,
SPOKE CANDIDLY WITH CITY FIRST
ABOUT HER INSPIRING JOURNEY, FAMILY
BACKGROUND AND CAREER GOALS AS A MODEL.
SHE EVEN SPOKE ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT IT IS
TO STRIKE A PERFECT BALANCE IN LIFE.
RUBAL SHEKHAWAT: A RAVISHING
VERSION OF CHARM
Describe yourself and what ac-
cording to you are some vital
skills or characteristics that one
should have to make it to the
modelling world?
My name is Rubal Shekhawat
and I am from Jaipur. I have
done graduation and I am a mod-
el, actress and content creator by
profession. I have travelled
across the country because I hail
from a defense background. This
made me very much interested
in travelling to various places
so that I can discover new cul-
tures and participate in ad-
venturous activities. In
my opinion determina-
tion, a consistently
healthy lifestyle and
true dedication to the profes-
sion are essential for modelling.
If you could go in the future and
give yourself some advice about
your career what would it be?
Yes, I would give myself some
advice regarding the healthcare
regime. I would tell myself to
take better care of my health be-
cause initially, my hectic shoot-
ing schedules taxed my health.
What made you find a model in
you?
Modelling was my childhood
dream and I am delighted that
it came true. I used to look up
to Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya
Rai, Priyanka Chopra and
Manushi Chhillar. They all in-
spired me to become a good pro-
fessional. I think my spontane-
ity also made me discover the
model within me. My passion
and dedication to creating my
own identity made me find the
job I was made for.
What according to you was the
biggest mistake made by you
when you started?
The biggest mistake that I com-
mitted was when I took my
health for granted. I used to
be out for shoots from
early morning to late
night and was left bereft
of home-cooked meals. In
the beginning, I could not
manage it well and at times
even ate unhealthy food. Then
I worked on it and made a health
and skin regime which I reli-
giously follow now.
What has been the most memo-
rable or rewarding moment in
your career?
There are so many memorable
and rewarding moments in my
life. Starting with the most re-
cent, winning the title of Femina
Miss India Rajasthan 2022 made
me proud of myself. One of them
is when I did an advertisement
with Ranveer Singh. I have also
done a song with Emraan Hash-
mi and it made me so happy. I am
proud of all that I have done.
rue beauty is not
limited to great
looks as it also in-
cludes the expres-
sion of skills. It is
all about being the
voice of the voiceless by
helping those in need. It is
about serving the country
of birth by helping the un-
derprivileged for the im-
provement of the commu-

he last novel Ernest
Hemingway saw
published, ‘The Old
Man and the Sea’
had proved itself to
be one of the most
enduring works of American
fiction. Using the simple,
powerful language of a fable,
Hemingway takes the time-
less theme of courage- in the
face of defeat and personal
triumph won from loss and
transforms it into a magnifi-
cent 20th Century classic.
Written in 1952, this hugely
successful novel confirmed
Hemingway’s power and
presence in the literary
world. It got him the Pulitzer
Prize in 1953 and the Nobel
Prize for Literature in 1954.
Hemingway was known
for his larger-than-life per-
sonality- due to his passion
for war (he was injured
twice), bullfighting, fishing
and big- game hunting. He
survived two plane crashes!
He viewed the world of war
as complex, filled with moral
ambiguities and full of una-
voidable pain, hurt de-
struction. To survive in such
a world, and to emerge victo-
riously, one must conduct
oneself with honour, cour-
age, endurance and dignity- a
set of principles that came to
be known as ‘The Heming-
way Code’. This was the
theme established in ‘The
Old Man and the Sea’. It’s a
perfectly crafted story, a
unique and timeless vision
of the beauty and grief of
man’s challenge to the ele-
ments in which he lives. “The
old man knew he had one
good fight left in him- so did
Hemingway- they both won-
as we gain insight into what
it means to struggle- to fight
against long odds, succeed!
Only to be beaten at the last
moment…”
‘The Old Man and the Sea’
is the story of an epic strug-
gle between an old, seasoned,
Cuban fisherman and the
greatest catch of his life. For
84 days, Santiago had set out
to sea and returned empty-
handed. Terming him un-
lucky, the parents of his
young, devoted, apprentice
and friend- Manolin, forced
the boy to leave the old man
for more prosperous fishing
boats. Santiago is a mentor to
the boy, who cherishes the
old man and the life lessons
he imparts. “There are many
good fishermen and some
great ones. But there is only
one you.” He does his best to
help and support Santiago
with the boat, supplies, food,
bait etc.
With age and luck now
against him, Santiago knows
he must row out “beyond all
people”, away from land and
into the Gulf Stream, “where
one last drama would be
played out, in an empty arena
of sea and sky”. The old man
hooks a Marlin fish- which is
even bigger than his boat. All
alone, he is tested to the lim-
its as he works the line with
bleeding hands, to bring his
prized catch close enough to
kill with a harpoon. He strug-
gles with the fish for three
days, admiring its strength,
dignity and faithfulness to its
identity- empathizing with it.
He finally reels the Marlin in
and lashes it to the boat. As
he sets sail for home, the con-
tinuous attack by multiple
sharks begins. He fights off
and kills many, but cannot
save his precious Marlin. He
reaches the shore with only
the skeleton, head and tail of
the great fish. Through his
struggle, Santiago demon-
strates the ability of the hu-
man spirit to endure hard-
ship and suffering to win. It
is also his deep love and
knowledge of the sea, in its
impassive cruelty and benef-
icence, that allows him to
prevail. The essential physi-
cality of the story- the smells
of tar salt fish blood, the
cramp nausea and blind
exhaustion of the old man,
the terrifying death spasms
of thegreatfish-issetagainst
the ethereal qualities of daz-
zling light and water, isola-
tion, the swelling motion
of the sea. And through it all
the narrative is constantly
tugging, unreeling a little
more, and then pulling again,
all in tandem with the old
man’s struggle.
“The best story Heming-
way has written- no page of
this beautiful master-work
could have been done better
or differently”. It is unsur-
passed in Hemingway’s
oeuvre. Every word tells
there is not a word too many
.
It is a story that demands to
be read in a single sitting.

aboutBhoolBhulaiyaa

following, working in
different genres and
many others.
About his on-

actor said, “I
haven’t slept for the
past 48 hours because
the promotions of the
title track were very
important. But be-
cause it has gotten
such great reactions, I
feel very energetic
about everything. I am
very elated by the re-

Talking about his
image as the people’s
star, Kartik shared
that he can relate to
the fans because he
came from a similar
crowd. “I do not try to
form that connection;
it comes out very natu-

. Whenever I meet
a fan, I see my past self
in them. Even yester-

mutual.”
About the

the actor
revealed that although
choosing scripts re-
quires destiny and
strategy, he also ma-

they are loved by the
crowd. “Like if no one
likes a certain film of
mine, there is a pres-

not like it and what
difference can I bring
out that fans would
love to see. There is an
appeal to mass enter-
tainers. I feel blessed
that I am getting the
chance to work on
such scripts and act in
such films and portray
such characters.”
The actor even
called portraying
Rooh in Bhool Bhulai- yaa 2 as playing an
easy game on his turf.
“The idea is that do
what you are good at
but also choose films
from other genres if
they come across you
and if you like the
story
. I am just explor-

am getting
good offers,

The actor further
spoke about his love
life claiming that he is

“I am just happy about

that they like both, my
reel and real character
are what makes me

About comparing
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 to

said, “Since the trailer

Holy Grail:
Serums
Ditching heavy moisturiser in summer but do the
serums work magic on the skin? DrTeena Singh,
Cosmetic Surgeon Facial Aesthetics Expert, tells.
weltering heat and
pollution cause dull-
ness and skin dam-
age along with a
plethora of little bar-
riersspurringskinto
lose its natural glow.
To know how to assimilate
a perfect skincare routine for
summer,DrTeenaSingh,Cos-
metic Surgeon Facial Aes-
thetics Expert shared tips on
how to use serums correctly
.
What is your opinion on
vitamin C and how to in-
corporate it into a skincare
routine?
Vitamin C is a powerful anti-
oxidant that works to stimu-
late collagen production in
your skin. It also fights fine
lines, brightens complexion
 provides a host of other
benefits. You can incorporate
Vitamin C in your skincare
in three forms-
=Cleanser: Choose a non-
irritating, gentle cleanser
that is free of sulphates, and
other harsh ingredients.
=Toner: Toners are a vital
step in the skincare routine
as they help tighten pores,
remove dirt, oil, or makeup,
and restore the pH balance of
the skin. They also aid in
moisture retention for a
healthy, glowing complexion.
=Serum: Using vitamin C
serum is the easiest and most
efficient way to deliver nutri-
ents to your skin. Once or
twice application a week re-
sults in reduced free radicals
and regenerated skin cells.
Unlike cleansers and toners,
a serum offers quick and vis-
ible results with just a few
drops applied to the skin.
What are AHA/BHA prod-
ucts and how can they be
used for effective results?
Alpha Hydroxy Acids(AHAs)
and Beta Hydroxy Acids
(BHAs) are both chemical ex-
foliating agents that help re-
move dead skin cells from the
top layer of your skin. They
also have anti-ageing effects
like smoothing fine lines
improving the texture of the
skin. It’s advisable to get a
patch test done before incor-
porating AHA and BHA into
your skincare routine so It
should be used in prescribed
quantities only followed by a
good amount of moisturiser(
as prescribed by the doctor).
=Along with topical se-
rums and creams, what
supplements are impor-
tant for healthy skin?
=Vitamins, minerals
 probiotics are required
to have good skin, hair
and nails. Achieving an op-
timum level of healthcare
along with great skin,
through diet alone on daily
bases is often not realistic
today. Supplements like A,
B, C, D, E K all are equally
important and incorporate
goodness in overall health.
Along with these vitamins
additional omega 3 fatty ac-
ids, glutathione, zinc, min-
erals and probiotics should
be added as per requirement
for great results.

The Minister es- corted PM Modi from Lok Sabha to Rajya Sabha cham- bers on the day of election of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. As part of Parliamen- tary procedure, the PM was not supposed to sit in Rajya Sabha while the election pro- ceedings were on. Yet being the Prime Minister he could have done that as an excep- tion. But PM Modi still chose to abide by the protocol and preferred to wait in the lobby for about half an hour. There was a flurry of activ- ity in the Parliament on the day as the election for Deputy Chairman was being held in Rajya Sabha. Harivanshji had been nominated by Janata Dal (United) for the post although he had been member of Rajya Sabha for only a short time. Now, according to Parlia- mentary procedures, if the Prime Minister is a member of Rajya Sabha, he/she sits in the House from the very be- ginning of the proceedings, and if the PM is member of Lok Sabha instead, then he or she joins the House after the election proceedings are over and is the first to speak a few words about the newly elect- ed Deputy Chairman. It was around 3 pm on 9 Au- gust, 2018 and I was fortunate to have been given the duty of escorting the PM from Lok Sabha to the Upper House. As I reached, PM Modi asked me if the election proceedings were over. I replied, “Sir, it will take 5-10 minutes more”. The PM then asked me to keep trackof theproceedingsonTV and to inform him as soon as they were over. I entered the PM’s chamber after a few min- utesandinformedhimthatthe proceedings would be over by thetimewereachRajyaSabha. My walk down to the Upper House accompanying the PM began and just as we were about to cross the lobby, we got the information that the proceedings were still in pro- gress. That’s when PM Modi decided to halt in the lobby and sat down on a chair, wait- ing patiently for the right time to go in. Immediately the Marshal came and said “Sir, you are the PM. You can go in. You are allowed.” PM Modi, hearing this, posed a short and simple ques- tion,“What’stheprotocol?”He furthersaid,“IamaLokSabha member.ALokSabhamember can attend election proceed- ings in Rajya Sabha but not as Prime Minister.” The Marshal then checked the Rule Book and said “ As a member of Lok Sabha, thePMdoesn’thavethe righttositduringRajyaSabha proceedingsbuthemayattend if the Chair makes an excep- tion for him.” “Why should I make an ex- ception for myself ? I don’t wish to break any rules,” and our Prime Minister contin- ued to sit where he was. This exchange that Naren- dra Modi had with the Mar- shal had a great impact on me. For about 20 minutes, he and I talked about diverse topics while people kept barg- ing in asking him to come and sit in Rajya Sabha. But no one could budge Modiji from his resolve. He equated his situa- tion with someone waiting at the crossing for the red light to turn green and said he would stay where he was while the light was still red. Those 20 minutes taught valuable lessons to all those whocameintouchwiththePM while he waited on the humble chair outside the Rajya Sabha with stoic and hermit-like pa- tience. In the meanwhile, Hari- vansh Singhji was elected Dep- uty Chairman and everyone congratulated him. The corri- dors were abuzz with talks of Narendra Modi’s forbearance andallegiancetohisdutiesand to parliamentary procedures. This incident will remain etched in the memories of all those fortunate to be part of the edifying experience in- stilling in them the impor- tance of adhering to Parlia- mentary traditions and rules, irrespective of one’s position. TO BE CONTINUED… H MODIJI STOOD LIKE A ROCK WHEN I WAS GRASPING AT STRAWS NAMO MAN OF THE MOMENT ssociated with the Sangh family of Guja- rat, Alkaben Bakshi found a saviour in PM Modi who was then serving as a Sangh Pracharak, when she lost her hus- band in 1982. Alkaben brings to us her story about the gentle and compassionate side of Narendra Modi that illumines the fact that the daughters of the Sangh family always have his back in adversity . “When I lost my husband in 1982 in a gruesome accident, I was devastated. At the time I was living at Maninagar in Ahmedabad while my parents were in Vadodra. The Sangh office was located in Dhor Bazaar and Narendra Bhai used to reside in the of- fice premises. As soon as he received the news about the accident, he rushed to Maninagar to console me and my family in the hour of grief. Narendra Bhai immediately took charge of the ornaments and cash in the house, and my husband’s bike and had them placed safely in the Sangh office. All these belong- ings were handed over to me by Narendra Bhai after about ten days when the last rites had been per- formed. The words of compassion and wisdom he spoke to me at that time still ring in my ears. He asked me to keep all the ornaments safely to secure my daughter’s future. Even now when I am in luck and get to meet Modi- ji, he inquires about my well-being and blesses me. When I was in dire straits and was running pillar to posttohavethemedicalandaccidentclaimprocessed, he sent in a request to Harish Patelji, who was a sen- ior lawyer at Gujarat High Court at the time. My case was handled by Harishji and after his death, by his son and after the judgement was pronounced, they did not charge me a single penny for fighting my case. It is an assurance that I can render based on my personal experiences that under the umbrella care of Narendra Bhai, the daughters of the Sangh fam- ily have little to fear because their brother is always there, looking after them.” A COMPILED AND EDITED BY SHASHIKANT SHARMA AND SHWETA SHARMA PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI l Vol 2 l Issue No. 173 l RNI NO. SHE EVEN SPOKE ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO STRIKE A PERFECT BALANCE IN LIFE. RUBAL SHEKHAWAT: A RAVISHING VERSION OF CHARM Describe yourself and what ac- cording to you are some vital skills or characteristics that one should have to make it to the modelling world? My name is Rubal Shekhawat and I am from Jaipur. I have done graduation and I am a mod- el, actress and content creator by profession. I have travelled across the country because I hail from a defense background. This made me very much interested in travelling to various places so that I can discover new cul- tures and participate in ad- venturous activities. In my opinion determina- tion, a consistently healthy lifestyle and true dedication to the profes- sion are essential for modelling. If you could go in the future and give yourself some advice about your career what would it be? Yes, I would give myself some advice regarding the healthcare regime. I would tell myself to take better care of my health be- cause initially, my hectic shoot- ing schedules taxed my health. What made you find a model in you? Modelling was my childhood dream and I am delighted that it came true. I used to look up to Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Manushi Chhillar. They all in- spired me to become a good pro- fessional. I think my spontane- ity also made me discover the model within me. My passion and dedication to creating my own identity made me find the job I was made for. What according to you was the biggest mistake made by you when you started? The biggest mistake that I com- mitted was when I took my health for granted. I used to be out for shoots from early morning to late night and was left bereft of home-cooked meals. In the beginning, I could not manage it well and at times even ate unhealthy food. Then I worked on it and made a health and skin regime which I reli- giously follow now. YOUR DAY Horoscope by Saurabbh Sachdeva he last novel Ernest Hemingway saw published, ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ had proved itself to be one of the most enduring works of American fiction. Using the simple, powerful language of a fable, Hemingway takes the time- less theme of courage- in the face of defeat and personal triumph won from loss and transforms it into a magnifi- cent 20th Century classic. Written in 1952, this hugely successful novel confirmed Hemingway’s power and presence in the literary world. It got him the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. Hemingway was known for his larger-than-life per- sonality- due to his passion for war (he was injured twice), bullfighting, fishing and big- game hunting. He survived two plane crashes! He viewed the world of war as complex, filled with moral ambiguities and full of una- voidable pain, hurt de- struction. To survive in such a world, and to emerge victo- riously, one must conduct oneself with honour, cour- age, endurance and dignity- a set of principles that came to be known as ‘The Heming- way Code’. This was the theme established in ‘The Old Man and the Sea’. It’s a perfectly crafted story, a unique and timeless vision of the beauty and grief of man’s challenge to the ele- ments in which he lives. “The old man knew he had one good fight left in him- so did Hemingway- they both won- as we gain insight into what it means to struggle- to fight against long odds, succeed! Only to be beaten at the last moment…” ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ is the story of an epic strug- gle between an old, seasoned, Cuban fisherman and the greatest catch of his life. For 84 days, Santiago had set out to sea and returned empty- handed. Terming him un- lucky, the parents of his young, devoted, apprentice and friend- Manolin, forced the boy to leave the old man for more prosperous fishing boats. Santiago is a mentor to the boy, who cherishes the old man and the life lessons he imparts. “There are many good fishermen and some great ones. But there is only one you.” He does his best to help and support Santiago with the boat, supplies, food, bait etc. With age and luck now against him, Santiago knows he must row out “beyond all people”, away from land and into the Gulf Stream, “where one last drama would be played out, in an empty arena of sea and sky”. The old man hooks a Marlin fish- which is even bigger than his boat. All alone, he is tested to the lim- its as he works the line with bleeding hands, to bring his prized catch close enough to kill with a harpoon. He strug- gles with the fish for three days, admiring its strength, dignity and faithfulness to its identity- empathizing with it. He finally reels the Marlin in and lashes it to the boat. As he sets sail for home, the con- tinuous attack by multiple sharks begins. He fights off and kills many, but cannot save his precious Marlin. He reaches the shore with only the skeleton, head and tail of the great fish. Through his struggle, Santiago demon- strates the ability of the hu- man spirit to endure hard- ship and suffering to win. It is also his deep love and knowledge of the sea, in its impassive cruelty and benef- icence, that allows him to prevail. The essential physi- cality of the story- the smells of tar salt fish blood, the cramp nausea and blind exhaustion of the old man, the terrifying death spasms of thegreatfish-issetagainst the ethereal qualities of daz- zling light and water, isola- tion, the swelling motion of the sea. And through it all the narrative is constantly tugging, unreeling a little more, and then pulling again, all in tandem with the old man’s struggle. “The best story Heming- way has written- no page of this beautiful master-work could have been done better or differently”. It is unsur- passed in Hemingway’s oeuvre. Every word tells there is not a word too many . It is a story that demands to be read in a single sitting. DrTeena Singh, Cosmetic Surgeon Facial Aesthetics Expert, tells. weltering heat and pollution cause dull- ness and skin dam- age along with a plethora of little bar- riersspurringskinto lose its natural glow. To know how to assimilate a perfect skincare routine for summer,DrTeenaSingh,Cos- metic Surgeon Facial Aes- thetics Expert shared tips on how to use serums correctly . What is your opinion on vitamin C and how to in- corporate it into a skincare routine? Vitamin C is a powerful anti- oxidant that works to stimu- late collagen production in your skin. It also fights fine lines, brightens complexion provides a host of other benefits. You can incorporate Vitamin C in your skincare in three forms- =Cleanser: Choose a non- irritating, gentle cleanser that is free of sulphates, and other harsh ingredients. =Toner: Toners are a vital step in the skincare routine as they help tighten pores, remove dirt, oil, or makeup, and restore the pH balance of the skin. They also aid in moisture retention for a healthy, glowing complexion. =Serum: Using vitamin C serum is the easiest and most efficient way to deliver nutri- ents to your skin. Once or twice application a week re- sults in reduced free radicals and regenerated skin cells. Unlike cleansers and toners, a serum offers quick and vis- ible results with just a few drops applied to the skin. What are AHA/BHA prod- ucts and how can they be used for effective results? Alpha Hydroxy Acids(AHAs) and Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs) are both chemical ex- foliating agents that help re- move dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. They also have anti-ageing effects like smoothing fine lines improving the texture of the skin. It’s advisable to get a patch test done before incor- porating AHA and BHA into your skincare routine so It should be used in prescribed quantities only followed by a good amount of moisturiser( as prescribed by the doctor). =Along with topical se- rums and creams, what supplements are impor- tant for healthy skin? =Vitamins, minerals probiotics are required to have good skin, hair and nails. Achieving an op- timum level of healthcare along with great skin, through diet alone on daily bases is often not realistic today. Supplements like A, B, C, D, E K all are equally important and incorporate goodness in overall health. Along with these vitamins additional omega 3 fatty ac- ids, glutathione, zinc, min- erals and probiotics should be added as per requirement for great results.
