The document discusses what mankind has attempted to do to deal with the problem of evil and sin throughout history. It describes how various religions have tried to gain freedom from evil through practices like idol worship, sacrificing babies, pursuing philosophical ideals, obeying moral rules, and the belief that humans can become gods. However, it argues that nothing man can do on his own is sufficient, as sin and death entered the world when Adam disobeyed God. The only solution is what God has done through Jesus Christ - by sending His Son to die for humanity's sins, those who believe in Him can be forgiven and granted eternal life.

Robust and Scalable ETL over Cloud Storage with Apache SparkDatabricks
The majority of reported Spark deployments are now in the cloud. In such an environment, it is preferable for Spark to access data directly from services such as Amazon S3, thereby decoupling storage and compute. However, there are limitations to object stores such as S3. Chained or concurrent ETL jobs often run into issues on S3 due to inconsistent file listings and the lack of atomic rename support. Metadata performance also becomes an issue when running jobs over many thousands to millions of files.

Dr. John Oakes gave a presentation for the South Florida Church of Christ in Miami on 9/1/13 on answering the hard questions (the question of evil, the question of suffering and the question of hell). The power point is attached.
This sermon explores the changing cultural attitudes towards sin and looks to Jesus as an example of how to minister to sinful people and point them towards their need for remedy from sin.
The Roman Catholic Church
This denomination is a traditional group of Christians who believe in Natural Law: doing what God intended in a natural way. Up until the C16th Catholics were the dominant group of Christians in Europe. Catholics are controlled by the Pope in Rome
Protestant Churches
These are the Christian groups that developed after Martin Luther’s debate in 1517.
These are modern Christians who have re-interpreted the Bible and have a different view to the Roman Catholics.
These Christians are NOT controlled by the Pope.
Many people have wondered what God might be like. Christians believe that he has certain attributes that define him.
Adam and Eve were created by God and placed in the garden of Eden. They had everything they wanted. But one day a serpent appeared and asked Eve to get him some fruit. He asked for fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This was the one tree whose fruit they couldn’t eat. Eve took the fruit and ate some herself. Seeing that nothing bad had happened she took the fruit to Adam to eat and he did. God knew of their disobedience and punished them for their actions. It is due to them that nature is out of balance with humanity and evil exists in the world. Had Adam and Eve obeyed God, evil would not exist
Lucifer was an angel in Heaven with God and all the other angels. However, he was not happy with his situation; he was jealous of God’s power. Lucifer challenged God, but God is omnipotent and easily defeated Lucifer, casting him out of Heaven into Hell below. Since then, Lucifer, or Satan, has worked to get revenge on God. He does this through causing pain and suffering to what God loves best: humans
Although millions of people believe in God there are still plenty of people who argue that God cannot exist if evil does: they are a contradiction
The Problem of Evil and Suffering
If God is omnipotent and omnibenevolent then how can evil exist?

Slide 1: Title: Exploring the Mindfulness: Understanding Its Benefits
Slide 2: Introduction to Mindfulness
Mindfulness, defined as the conscious, non-judgmental observation of the present moment, has deep roots in Buddhist meditation practice but has gained significant popularity in the Western world in recent years. In today's society, filled with distractions and constant stimuli, mindfulness offers a valuable tool for regaining inner peace and reconnecting with our true selves. By cultivating mindfulness, we can develop a heightened awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, leading to a greater sense of clarity and presence in our daily lives.
Slide 3: Benefits of Mindfulness for Mental Well-being
Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress and anxiety levels, improving overall quality of life.
Mindfulness increases awareness of our emotions and teaches us to manage them better, leading to improved mood.
Regular mindfulness practice can improve our ability to concentrate and focus our attention on the present moment.
Slide 4: Benefits of Mindfulness for Physical Health
Research has shown that practicing mindfulness can contribute to lowering blood pressure, which is beneficial for heart health.
Regular meditation and mindfulness practice can strengthen the immune system, aiding the body in fighting infections.
Mindfulness may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity by reducing stress and improving overall lifestyle habits.
Slide 5: Impact of Mindfulness on Relationships
Mindfulness can help us better understand others and improve communication, leading to healthier relationships.
By focusing on the present moment and being fully attentive, mindfulness helps build stronger and more authentic connections with others.
Mindfulness teaches us how to be present for others in difficult times, leading to increased compassion and understanding.
Slide 6: Mindfulness Techniques and Practices
Focusing on the breath and mindful breathing can be a simple way to enter a state of mindfulness.
Body scan meditation involves focusing on different parts of the body, paying attention to any sensations and feelings.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

3. The following discussion is my attempt to give a very
broad dealing with what man has done. You may find
weaknesses in the presentation, but I wanted to give
somewhat of a picture of what men have done to try to
deal with the problem of evil.
4. • Before we consider this question, let’s look at what man has
attempted to do.
• Though mankind forfeited the earth to Satan in the Garden of
Eden II, and though he joined Satan in renouncing his
allegiance to God, Satan didn’t succeed in getting man to
pledge allegiance to him, either (at first).
• But he did succeed in subjugating man through fear of bodily
harm and death.
• And man himself tried all sorts of ways to make himself free
from evil and sin.
• The most common way was to make an idol that substituted
for God and represented evil angelic beings.
• They then worshipped those idols and set up systems of
religion connected to those idols thus worshiping Satan.
5. • We can see all around us evidence of man’s attempt to rid
himself of sin and gain immortality.
• One of the earliest religions was a system of idols which
required babies to be burned alive to the idol/god in order to
attempt to gain protection of the god and prosperity and
eventual eternal life for the followers.
• Another system of religion attempted to use philosophy to
cause the followers to give up any hope of anything but death,
but if you lived a good enough life, or if you still needed to
burn sins off your spirit, it would be re-born as someone else
to suffer and burn off more sins until one’s spirit reached a
point of no longer having sin on the spirit and then it would
go into a state of total cessation of being when it would cease
being re-born.
6. • Still other religions offered no hope for eternal life, but
concentrated on living in this life with peace and a measure
of pleasure.
• One of the common ideas of these religions was that of
having peace, comfort and prosperity in this life.
• For the most part this was achieved by living a good life and
not doing anything bad or having evil thoughts.
• To achieve this peace, some of them practiced self-denial of
all pleasure in order to “purify” themselves.
• Others practiced TM to keep their minds from having evil
thoughts.
• And still others have resorted to trying to obey a lot of moral
rules and laws.
7. • Finally, there are those religions that taught and
still teach that each of us is on our way to becoming
a god as the next step in our development.
• We can see, then, that men have had a variety of
ways to try to handle the problem of evil.
• None of them answer the main problem: our
separation from the God who created us and who
alone can give us eternal life and free us from sin.
8. What can man do about this problem?
•The answer is quite simple – nothing in himself.
•When Adam and Eve sinned by eating the forbidden
fruit with it’s penalty of death, they brought sin and
death into the human race.
Like a hereditary defect or disease that is passed
down from generation to generation, the sin nature
and death passed down to you and me, and everyone
else.
We’re all destined to die physically.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die,
but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27)
Heb 9:27 มีข้อกำหนดสำหรับมนุษย์ไว้แล้วว่ำจะตำยครั้งเดียวและ
หลังจำกนั้นก็จะมีกำรพิพำกษำฉันใด

…as in Adam all die…(1 Corinthians 15:22a)
เพรำะว่ำคนทั้งปวงต้องตำยเกี่ยวเนื่องกับอำดัมฉันใด
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world,
and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men,
for that all have sinned: (Romans 5:12)
10. There is our situation.
•Sin came into the world through Adam , with its
penalty of physical death for everyone.
•And then sin has been passed down to us with its
penalty of physical death.
•And we can’t do anything to stop it from
happening.
•The sin is on our spirits and souls and we can’t get
rid of it no matter what we try.
•And the sad thing is we will continue to sin more
and more, adding to our condemnation.
So far, I’ve only dealt with the immediate result of sin
(although it may take from 70-120 years to happen)
and that’s physical death.
11. There’s another death that is more terrible and each
soul with sin on it is destined for that death, too.
•This death is to be thrown into the lake of fire (we
call it hell) forever.
•Because nothing with sin on it can enter into
heaven in God’s presence.
God’s holiness would destroy us if we entered
into His presence with just one sin on our soul.
It’s his mercy that we are kept out of His
presence while we have sin on our souls.
His justice demands the penalty of the Lake of
Fire for that one sin.
•Therefore, our souls and spirits (which are the real
us) cannot enter into heaven but are destined for the
Lake of Fire in our natural sinful condition.
12. • That’s the law; that’s strict justice which can never
be administered with mercy.
• We’re in a lot of trouble, but there is a solution in
what God has done about the problem of evil.
• We’ll look more into detail about that in the next
lesson. But we don’t have to be condemned to the
Lake of Fire.
• God took the punishment for us in the crucifixion of
His only begotten Son to pay for all our sins and to
clean our souls and spirits of the sins that were on
them from the past.
• We have to only ask God to forgive us and cleanse us
of all unrighteousness and for Jesus to be our Savior
and Lord.
13. • John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
• John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through him
might be saved.
