1. Every person has two parts: Ego and Deeper part
• Ego: showing up in meetings and fighting to look good,
fighting for careers. That’s acceptable.
• But showing up with deeper hopes, deeper longing, very
quickly becomes very risky.
• Example:
• One employee in a Advertising Industry. Imagine a colleague
calling in all the other colleagues and said, “I sometimes wonder
what we are busy with. Creating all these needs with people. For
products that they actually don’t really need. That are produced
in china, pollute the world. Shipped over. Used ones thrown
away. All of those people who cant afford them become
unhappy. What are we dealing with?” Probably the person who
has called that meeting will not make a very long career. Right?
• If a Doctor calls in and say, “I don’t want to turn hospitals into
factories for patients. We should really think of what it means to
care.” Probably he wouldn’t get a very good reception.
• So slowly we learn, let’s not talk too much about
that. And start fight for careers.
2. • In most organizations, Masculine is
appreciated. Whether it is man or
women. Those who are showing results,
determination, Very clear of what we
want to achieve, looking forward and not
backward. That is very much appreciated.
• Feminine: Nurturing, Caring,
Questioning, vulnerable side.
• We quickly learn that this part doesn’t
really help us forward.
• So we all tend to show up much more
masculine, much more determined than
we really are. Never showing doubts.
Never showing vulnerabilities.
3. • We all have a Rational side,
Emotional, Intuitive and Spiritual
side.
• Rational side is very valued in
organizations.
• But intuitive cant really be
proven with numbers.
• And certainly “No emotions” in
organization and spiritual… No!!
4. • So we end up showing this
very narrow ego-
masculine-Rational side of
us. And leaving all of the other
part of us “Who we are”
• This is 1/16th of ourselves.
• If that is the case, people will
show up only 1/16th of our
energy, of our passion of our
creativity.
