1. Radio Show Review
When I first listened to my radio show I was upset because I felt it could have
been so much better, like the ones you hear on BBC radio, but after I listened
to it more I felt that my opinion changed dramatically. I found that it was a lot
better than I originally thought.
At the beginning of the radio show I found that I was really nervous and that I
didn’t speak fluently because I was trying to read from a script, but after the
first 2 songs we played, I kind of got into the swing of it and stopped using the
script. This is because I found that it sounded so much better if I made it up on
the spot.
With some of the facts and figures we had, I think it would have been better if
we made it more our own, instead of reading straight from the script.
When I was presenting some of the slang that I used was very poor, using
words like ‘wicked’ and ‘banging tune’ I foundthat it made the radio show
soundchavy rather than intellectual, but I also felt like it gave it character and
more of a fun and personable style.
I also feel that at some points the way we talked about things was extremely
scripted but also at some points I was very fluent and free, as if a cage had
been lifted.
During the show, we talked about a movie called ‘The Family’ which I had been
waiting months to come out, but what I hadn’t realised until very recently, was
that the movie had beenreleased in September of last year, which means we
made a major mistake and our information was out of date. Therefore for
future reference we need to double check our information.
Also there seemed to be a lot of dead air too, this is because we weren’t sliding
the faders up or down quick enough, this caused a second or 2 of dead air.
But over all I think it was a good first radio show, I think the other 2 will get
better the more we do them.
