1. Product Registration
• Every cosmetics & supplements must be registered under the National
Agency of Food and Drug Control, also known as Badan Pengawas Obat dan
Makanan (BPOM).
• Import license is also required to clear the items through customs.
• The registration process takes around 3 to 6 months and in some cases
years.
2. Certification
• BPOM only accepts GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certifications which
are issued by governmental institutions. Certifications issued by private
sector entities will not be accepted unless the country where the
manufacturer is located allows it.
3. Local Company/Partner/Distributor
• All imported health food supplements may only be distributed through a
local agent or distributor.
• Only legal entities established under the Indonesian Law can register
cosmetic and supplement products in Indonesia.
