This task of analysing successful music videos, has helped me to understand
what editing and cinematography techniques work well with different genres.
Even though the music videos that we analysed on here weren’t part of the
genre that I am using, I still learned how which techniques fit certain moods;
for example if the song was sad, then the music video would probably contain
black and white scenes to reflect the sadness, and the camera movement
would be slow.
The use of pan in some of the music videos has enlightened me into using it for
my own music video as it allows the audience to look at the whole location of
the scene, and the location that I am going to use is important to the song.
