4. Compared to the music video I decided to use
and develop forms and conventions of real
music texts in my digipak. Most digpaks of the
alternative genre tend to not use the artist/band
on the cover therefore I interpreted this genre
into my digipak.
I looked at existing examples from the same
genre to develop mine.
5. Existing Digipaks
E.g. ALT J – Natilda
Most digipaks in this genre is very consistent everything is related the pictures used in
the digipak reflects the artists personality and their music videos – a form of synergy.
This allows the audience to be able to distinguish artists from each other.
6. Arctic Monkey’s effective use of synergy in their digipak
website and music video.

8. For my digipak I used adobe photoshop for the design
process which was exciting and both challenging at the
same time. I had many ideas of how I wanted it to look
like. Here is an example of one of the first drafts I did:
I felt that it was too pink and unprofessional as I did not follow conventions and did
what I wanted therefore it did not go according to what I had envisioned. I learnt that at
times following conventions is important,. So I then used a different template and used
images which followed the conventions and did more research into existing digipaks.
9. I took these pictures while we were in the process of filming our music video. I felt
that it was important to use these stills as it creates synergy between products like
Arctic Monkey’s latest album am where their media products were consistent., from
their music video, to album artwork and their website.
10. I also interpreted this convention when creating
VENUS ’website.

11. The edited the images used to create the ‘old film’ ‘faded’ look
which is created in the music video were used for the digipak. As
you can see in my front cover it is very similar to the The XX
cover and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Majestic album covers
and used elements of shape from the The XX album. This created
the overall look of the front cover.
