1. Hinglish: an approach to cultural sensibilization and
acceptance towards Indian English exposure.
-
2. -
There is a negative attitude towards accented English. This happens because
learners are rarely exposed to it, so it appears unintelligible and very difficult to
understand. The main goal of our research study is to expose learners to a
different accent ( Indian English) and hence, improve their tolerance and
acceptance towards it, since they will get familiar with it, develop positive
attitudes as well as affect, and comprehend it better.
Bresnahan, M. ( 2002). Stated that a different accent is regarded as a
differentiation mark and can be an indicator that someone is an outsider to a
group, which can led to rejection and exclusion.
It is important to highlight that in real life there are no “standard accents”, since
everybody’s speech has specific features that make their accents unique.

What are we going to
do?
We will be creating online classes where autonomous
learners can go and find different lessons and task in
Hindi English (Hinglish), for them to be exposed to the
language and develop a sense of tolerance and
acceptance towards this dialect that is now part of group
of standard Englishes of the world.
4. -
Why ?
BECAUSE:
• ENGLISH SPEAKERS AND
LEARNERS ARE INTOLERANT AND
REJECTIVE TOWARDS ACCENTED
ENGLISH
• BECAUSE ENGLISH HAS MANY
VARIATIONS AND THEY ARE VALID
AND AS THEY ARE WIDELY
SPOKEN, THEY ARE WORTH TO BE
INSTRUCTED AND USED
• BECAUSE WE WANT TO
ENCOURAGE AUTONOMOUS
LEARNERS TO APPROACH
DIFFERENT ACCENTS AND
DIALECTS TO IMPROVE THEIR
COMPRHENSION AND LANGUAGE
SKILLS
5. Through an online platform
that is already created to
provide lessons on
Vernacular English. The aim
of our project is to expand
this platform with lessons of
Hindi English (Hinglish).
