1. SHAININ TECHNIQUE
• It is a problem-solving technique which is used for quality-improvement.
• It is also known as “Statistical engineering” or “RED-X” methodology.
• It basically diagnoses the problem and provides a remedy in a structured
manner.
• Firstly, we try to identify the problem, which we term as “GREEN Y”.
• Then, we analyze which types of variability can be attached to it.

2. PROCESS FLOW TO APPLY SHAININ
TECHNIQUE
• Define the problem.
• Quantify the problem.
• Try to generate clues about the problem.
• Perform some experiments(in a repeated manner).
• We try to evaluate the problem in “OFF” and “ON” state.
• We establish new tolerances.
• Fix the improvements.

3. WHEN AND HOW TO APPLY
VARIABILITY?
• First, try to apply within the unit.
• Then, try to apply in many similar units.
• Then, try to apply from time to time.

4. • In unit to unit, try to find Best of Best(BOB) sample and Worst of
Worst(WOW) and try to compare them.
• Then, find the difference of medians to the difference of ranges of
experiments. It will help to find the exact cause.
