Introduction
 The project method has been recognised as teaching technique
since many years; it has its primary inception in the field of
agriculture sciences where Students carried out some planned
creative activities in a natural environment or a plant work field
to produce certain products.
 Letter it was used in vocational educational progrrams. the
essential characteristics of the project method are planned
activity of in individual and production of tangible results.
Definition
 According to prof. Ballard,
“ a project is a bit of real life that has been
imported in to the school further in project method
,learning by living ; this life has spontaneity , purpose,
significance and interest, freedom’.
 According to William kilpartrick,
Project method is a whole – hearted , purposeful
activity proceeding in a social environment.
 According to Stevenson –
“ Project method is a problematic act carried to completion in its natural setting.”
 Stevenson also mentioned that to be a project method the learning activity must
be;
1. problematic in nature.
2. Aimed at a definite attainable goal.
3. Purposefull , Natural and lifelike.
4. directed and planned by the student.
5. Practical in nature.
Characteristics of a good project method
 The method aims at teaching the learner to get the best out of the
life.
 An attemp to use experience trust and the best master whose
lessons are unforgettable.
 The project method gives an opportunity for self expression.
 The project matter proposes the whole sequence of activities
involved in complete understanding.
 A project is a play activity and learner are engaged in carrying out
the activity.
 The project method the produre of the learners point at activity.
 An attempt is made to establish a position relation with life .
 It is a large unit plan of teaching.

Types of the project method.
1. Projector type

3. Consumer type

 Projects where a solution to a problem is to be found out.
Essentials of a good project.
 The project should be timely.
 The project should be challenging.
 The project should be feasible.
 The project must have a bearing on a great number
of subjects and the knowledge acquired through it
may be applied in a variety of ways.
Organising a project
 The teacher must exercise guidance in the selection of a project.
 Project student developes skills the guidance of a teacher.
 Good planning should be done by the students before hands.it
may we in the form of a drawing.
 The project is an activity to accomplish certain purposes.
 Sufficient preprations must we made to avoid Interruptions
and delay letter.
 The evaluations of a project should be done by what the
students and teacher.
The role of teacher in the project method
 Project method is a relatively independent method of teaching
and learning.
 The teacher has to skillfully guide in the selection.
 Student has to be given help when required.
 The teaching should be good promote.
 like is a friends with rich and mature experience.
 The teacher acts as a director.
 The teacher must be in observer and a true sympathizer.
 The teacher should be a storehouse of information and
knowledge.
Advantages of the project method
It follows the psychological laws of
learning:
• Law of readiness
• Law of exercise.
• Law of effect.
 It gives freedom to the students.
 It suited the psychological concept of maturation.
 It drive social values.
 It trans for social adjustments.
 Trance for the democratic way of life.
 It promotes learning through practical problem solving.
 It set up an intrinsic Standard of evaluation.
Disadvantages of the project method
 Role of communication is subordinated to the glorification of
active learning.
 It’s time consuming and limited why availability and cost of
materials.
 Leaves gates and students knowledge.
 It may be to ambitious beyond astudents capacity.
 Projects maybe adopted or abandoned at will.
 Children mein ignore maximum working from simple to complex.
