1. Primary 1 - Snow Activities!!
Children will earn 2 smiley faces for every task they complete in the event of the school being closed
due to snow! Tick off the sheet as the tasks are completed and return to Mrs Rice to collect smileys!
This is not extra homework!
Look at your favourite story book – can you find
1) 5 full stops 2) 5 capital letters 3) 5 finger spaces 4) sounds that we have learned – s, a, t,
p, i, n, d, m, e, d, f, g, c, k, r, m, b, u
Draw 5 people who help us – ask a grown up to help you write their job underneath – put a
circle around the one you think is most important – talk about why you think this.
We have been learning about our 5 senses:
Play a fun blindfold game – can you guess what is for dinner or lunch just by using your sense of
smell or your sense of taste?
Try feeling different objects while blindfolded using your sense of touch – does it feel hard, soft, hot,
cold etc – can you guess what the object is without looking?
Close your eyes and listen to the sounds all around you – draw 3 things you heard – talk to a grown up
about this.
Continue a 3 object pattern e.g. – fork, spoon, knife, fork, spoon, knife..... – say the pattern
out loud and check it repeats.
How do you feel when your friend is kind to you? Think of 3 words – can you remember a
time your friend was really kind?
Imagine you are on the X-Factor – what song would you sing? What would you wear?
Look at real money and practise counting using 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p – you could set up a little
shop and let a grown up visit!
Practise writing your numbers up to 10/20 – make sure you write them the correct way! Ask
a grown up to shout a number – you could clap, jump, hop etc that many times!
The Shepherds and Wise Men brought gifts for baby Jesus – what is the best present you have
ever received and why?
Imagine it never stopped snowing!!! Can you think of 1 good thing and 1 bad thing about
this? Draw a picture of yourself having fun in the snow!
