1. Charles R. Drew
Charles R. Drew is famous for his work.He was the man who found out how to store
blood. His invention saved millions of lives.
Charels was born in Washington D.C. June 3,1904. He also grew up in Washington
D.C.. He went to college at Morgan College. He was a top student he also won many awards in
swimming at school, then went to many other sports like football,baseball,and basketball. He
had four kids and was married.In 1928 Charles started medical school Charles wanted to be a
doctor it was his dream but he didn't have enough money.He gets invited to Howard University
to teach doctors.
Then went to hospital to learn the separation of white and black blood and there was no
reason to separate it.He get invited to be the directer of the Red Cross Blood Esoseation.In
1941 he quit the Red Cross Blood Esoseation.Then began to teach at Howard University again.I
chose him because he was very interesting and was very smart.
Charles R. Drew is a hero because he was the first man to figure out how to separate
blood from the plasma to store it. That is important so they can have blood for times of
emergencies. From 1939 until today because of his discovery he was able to save millions of
lives.
He saved tons of lives with his invention he is a true hero, with out him the army would not
have blood very fast. Then he died April 1,1950 because of old age.
