The Bungling Host Summary
Group 1, Question C) One of the stories that I thought was mostly for entertainment was "The Story
of Ong". From what I noticed was that in most of the stories it taught some sort of lesson or tells us
why things are the way they are. But in this story there wasn't really anything that we learned from
it. For example, in "Damollale and the Water Baby" at the end it says, "Then the lake returned to its
original bed, but as it retreated it left water in all the depressions in the area. That is why there are
many small lakes in the mountains near Lake Tahoe," which is directly telling us what we need to
know from hearing this story (Glotfetly 27). But in the story of the Washo and the Ong, It just tells
us how the Washo managed to escape safely. But even though the story was short it kept us at edge
and intrigued the whole time. Group 2, Question B) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the "Bungling Host" it tell us the reason why certain animals look the way they do, it also has a
lot of unnecessary details. While reading it I was expecting a different ending. But it tells us that the
Coyote pushes in the Wildcats nose while the Wildcat sharpens and makes the Coyote's nose pointy
(Glotfelty 9). While in ""Wolf and Coyote–Origin of Death" it is more direct and get to the point a
lot faster. It was also a bit more predictable. In this story the wolf wants to make humans immortal,
but the coyote tells him no because humans are old enough they die and he enjoys eating them
(Glotfelty 24). One thing I noticed that is similar between both stories is that the coyote character is
the reason why things turned out the way they are; the Coyote character is the reason why humans
die, and the reason why wildcats and coyotes have the noses they

Snail Host Compatibility
General concept of snail host compatibility in schistosome infection
It is conceptualised that digenean trematodes were primitively parasites of molluscs; they only later
learned to utilise vertebrate hosts as a result of evolutionary host switching (Muller and Wakelin,
2002; Lockyer et al., 2004). Nevertheless, transmission of vector–borne parasites is eminently
dependent on the degree of vector susceptibility. In a vector–parasite system, compatibility occurs
when the parasite is capable of infecting and being transmitted through the vector and this
compatibility is often at the specie or strain level for both parasite and vector (Lockyer et al., 2004;
Perrin et al., 2013). In contrast to the non–schistosome molluscan vectors such as Lymnaea
truncatula and Physa acuta, higher levels of calcium (Ca2+) and linoleate in Biomphalaria and
Bulinus vectors make them a suitable host ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Red Queen hypothesis is based on the assumption that parasite must genetically match its host
for a successful infection (King et al., 2011) and therefore, they must both have an adaptive
molecular dialogue. Compatibility polymorphism where some parasite strains are compatible with
certain host strains but not with others and vice versa also occurs (Mitta et al., 2012; Perrin et al.,
2013). Strains such as BS–90, 13–16–R1 and 10–R2 displaying resistance, and susceptible strains
such as the M–line and NMRI serve as a means to evaluate and better understand the driving
mechanisms underpinning snail resistance and susceptibility (Pila et al., 2016). The susceptibility or
resistance of a snail to schistosome infection is a heritable characteristic, and both snail and parasite
genetic constitutions shape the outcome of infection. In Biomphalaria species, resistance appears to
be a dominant character. The expression of a single dominant gene during the adulthood of some
Biomphalaria glabrata stocks confers their resistance to S. mansoni infection whereas, susceptibility

The Host
The Host, produced in 2013, is an American sci–fi, romantic, thriller movie adapted from the novel
written by Stephanie Meyer, writer of the Twilight series. It is told from the perspective of Melanie,
a young woman who is captured by the parasitic aliens named "Souls" after the human race is taken
over.
Andrew Niccol brings yet another adrenaline–filled movies to the big screen. Who successfully
wrote "The Truman Show" (1998). We meet Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan), after she has recently
been inhabited by a "Soul". She somehow manages to retain her own identity, which rarely happens.
This leads to conversations between soul Melanie, known as Wanderer, and Earth Melanie. Soon
Wanderer trusts that what Melanie is telling her to do is the right thing, and goes to find Melanie's
family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once reunited, they hide from the soul patrols in search cars and helicopters, allowing "The Host" to
live in Melanie's body, as she is causing no harm, until they can find an alternative body.
Andrew Niccol co–wrote the script with Stephanie Meyer. His films' ground rules limit the depth
and variety of possible relationships, and "The Host" is top–heavy with profound, deep
conversations, all tending to sound like farewells. This movie really opens your eyes to how two
beings, completely opposite to each other, can form a bond and friendships stronger than any other.
And it makes you wonder why, in society, racism exists at all. If two creature nothing alike can find
harmony, why can't

Evolution Of Host Parasite Relationships

Evolution Case Study #1
Dr. Amanda Duffus
The Evolution of Host–Parasite Relationships
Since Darwin's "dangerous" idea in the nineteenth century, the causes and significances of evolution
have been investigated unceasingly. One evident example of evolution is between parasite and host
relationships, in which host and parasite partners maximize their own fitness, by evolving to reduce
the fitness of the other. Parasites are hypothesized to evolve and cause hosts to evolve, as well as
promoting sexual recombination. There are two major hypotheses of evolution pertaining to host–
parasite relationships: the Red Queen hypothesis and the Red King model. The Red Queen
hypothesis claims that there is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientist Van Valen used this as a metaphor for the evolutionary race saying that species keep
running (evolving) to stay in the same place, but if they stop, they become extinct. This theory has
been consistently added to and built upon by G. Bell in 1982, who applied it to host and parasite
relationships, showing how evolution affects genotype frequencies and that changes come from
maintaining sexual reproduction. (Lively, 2010) The Red Queen hypothesis demonstrates how
species rely on competition for initiating evolution, and how there is a domino effect of change
causing change. (Barnett and Hansen, 1996) In studies done by Barnett and Hansen (1996) using an
organizational approach, evidence was found for Red Queen evolution in that organizations
exhibited less failure if there was more competition. The research used banks as a model, and the
results showed that in places only one existed, there was an advantage of a monopoly, but did not
have any experience when exposed to competition. (Barnett and Hansen, 1996) The Red Queen
hypothesis also shows that selection favors hosts that have rare resistance alleles. There also is
research that shows generation time affects selection for sex, in that the longer it takes to reproduce,
the more opportunity there is for evolution. The Red Queen hypothesis suggests that when in regard
to parasite and host relationships, when parasites are low in number, the costs of sex outweigh the
benefits and

Host Stereotypes
It is well known that is normal for a host society to create stereotypes in regards to new non–native
groups. To be more accurate, stereotypes occur because diverse groups possess their own primary
characteristics that are different from the host group's features. Karel D.Bicha presented two types of
possible stereotypes such as negative and positive. It all depends how the diverse group acts when
introduced to the host society. If diverse group adapts to the mores and ethics of the host society
within fast time, stereotypes wouldn't exist. Respectively, if diverse group starts pushing its own
characteristics without accepting the host's way of doing things, then there might be created a
negative stereotype. From one side stereotypes provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these groups held high social statuses. Jews and Italians were both known to contribute to
the introduction of alcohol. Jews used wine for their religious practices; however, Italians used wine
for their culinary processes. Jewish were known to own businesses and play a major role in a
commercial–agricultural industry same as Italians. Crime rate indicator is a major factor that shows
the difference in diverse cultural groups. Slavic group was known to have very low criminal rate.
Mostly drunk bar fights and minor–theft. Jews were the group with almost no criminal record; thus,
if something ever happened police knew it wasn't anything serious. However, Italians had talent in
creating criminals. They held the highest criminal rate in American society. Boarding was another
factor that distinguished several diverse groups. Slavs were labeled as cheap men (hunky labor);
thus, they were boarding with non–family members as well. They were trying to economize. This
further showed a negative result on Slavic groups by lowering the tone of family life. Some Slavic
male tenants (except Czechs) contacted owners to provide them full boarding which included wife
of the tenant besides the house. Jewish and Italians preferred family boarding on their

WELCOME ADDRESS by Host Pastor
The great God that deserves to be praised greatly is our God (Psalm 145:3). Jesus Christ, the same
yesterday, today and forever. Hallelujah! It was just like yesterday when the Lord told us three years
before this parish was birthed that we would be coming to Akron. As it is written, "Though thy
beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase," we have seen God's faithfulness
over the last seven years in every life, every marriage, every home in the church, in the parish and in
our land.
Our ever faithful, ever true Lord and Savior has proven Himself in innumerable ways as "The Alpha
and the Omega." We remember the Stow Ohio dinner with friends held on Sunday, May 9th 2010.
HE has shown that He alone has the final say in the affairs of men, "The Almighty." As our Helper,
He told us we are stepping into "our season of help." HE is still manifesting Himself as the ever–
fresh, ever–new God, the God of "a new thing." In His mercy HE taught us the "power ... Show

Types Of The Human Host
All bacteria require certain amounts of transition metals to sustain life. These metals are necessary
to carry out important metabolic processes in the cell. Among other things, transition metals can act
as cofactors and they can be incorporated into metalloenzymes, transcription factors and storage
proteins (10). A. baumannii requires efficient mechanisms to acquire these transition metals,
especially when confined in a human host. The human host carries an abundant amount of metals
that can be harnessed by invading pathogens. To hinder a bacterium's exploitation of these metals,
the human host employs a variety of techniques collectively termed "nutritional immunity" (10). For
instance, calprotectin (CP) in the host chelates intracellular stores of manganese (Mn) and zinc (Zn)
to inhibit bacterial growth [5]. All pathogens require essential metals such as iron to sustain life. Iron
is a significant component in oxidative phosphorylation, contributing to ATP production (21). The
human host also sequesters iron via various mechanisms in an attempt to further inhibit bacterial
growth. These iron limitation strategies include storing iron intracellularly by complexing it to
ferritin, serum transferrin and lactoferrin in mucosal surfaces (10). In the blood, iron is also
complexed to heme (10). Even when a red blood cell is lysed, hemoglobin is quickly bound by
haptoglabin and free heme is bound by hemeopexin (Hpx), further limiting A. baumannii's access to
iron (10).

Security Issues With Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
Abstract– The paper discusses security issues with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
and four different approaches proposed to secure DHCP. DHCP assigns network parameters to
existing and new clients. A misconfigured client is a big security breach as the traffic from and to
such client can be intercepted. The two main issues with DHCP are rogue server and Media Access
Control (MAC) address spoofing. The techniques discussed in the paper attempt at solving these
problems by encrypting the plain text send in DHCP, using digital signatures and key exchange
algorithms to maintain data integrity and security.
1. Introduction–
Internet grew rapidly over the last few decades. This has led to increase in the size of networks and
number of network devices. The network infrastructure today needs improvement and changes daily,
so adding new devices to network is very essential. The traditional way of assigning network
configuration to clients with the help of a network administrator is difficult. DHCP has now owned
the responsibility to perform this task. DHCP has its security issues because at the time of its
development internet security was not as important as dynamic allocation of the network parameters
were [2]. The major security concern in DHCP is interception of plaintext messages and illegitimate
client or server that compromises the network.
In section 4 of the paper, four different techniques to secure DHCP have been discussed. The first
approach makes use of

Polyphemus Is An Improper Host Of Odysseus
The Odyssey written by Homer is a classic tale of Odysseus's lengthy journey home to Ithaca. The
story includes many positive and negative examples of proper behavior of a host to his guest. A
proper host would have three main qualities. These qualities are being respectful to their guest,
offering them a place to stay, and providing them with food. Odysseus, being the guest, has
encountered many hosts on his journey with very different personalities.
Polyphemus is a more negative and improper host with a bad quality of eating Odysseus's crew.
When Odysseus is first greeted by Polyphemus on a island home to cyclopes, two men of
Odysseus's crew are eaten and Odysseus and the rest are trapped with Polyphemus. The men
couldn't leave and became food for the cyclops. Eventually, they devised a plan to escape and leave
the island. Seeking revenge, Polyphemus asked his father, Poseidon, to make sure that Odysseus
never returns home. Polyphemus is not a very polite host eating and attacking his guests. He does
not exhibit proper behavior as a host. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Host Theme
"The Host" was directed by Andrew Niccol, and was released in March of 2013. This is a dramatic
science fiction movie, There are many actors in this movie, but the most important ones are the main
one such as Saoirse Ronan and Emily Browning. There are also two supporting who play a big in
the plot they are, William Hurt and Diane Kruger. The "Host" was first a book before it came a
movie. This is a story of Earth, in a post apocalyptic time, being invaded by a parasitic alien race,
known as "Souls", and follows one Soul's predicament when the consciousness of her human host
refuses to co–operate with the takeover of her body. The genre of this movie is Science Fiction, and
the tone is futuristic, romantic drama. The are many layered structure types in the movie like flash–

memory or a specific, then it will pick right back up where it left and continue back on the original

The characters development, the acting, and the plot were the things that stood out to me that were
unsuccessful. This movie made me feel like I should never watch another science fiction movie

Host Rocks Essay
TYPE OF ROCK WHERE OPALS ARE FOUND
The New South Wales opal fields are all situated in arid inland areas, on ridges surrounded by black
soil plains. Opal deposits mainly occur in Cretaceous rocks formed 65 to 135 million years ago
within the Great Australian Basin. Opal is found at shallow depths in sedimentary rocks through
which there has been considerable silica seepage into cavities and other structures where gradual
loss of water from the silica gel has resulted in hardening of the material and the formation of opal.
Host rocks contained a variety of voids formed by the weathering process, which leached carbonate
from boulders, nodules, fossils, cracks, hollow centres of ironstone nodules and horizontal seams.
Most opaline silica deposited is common opal (or potch). It does ... Show more content on

Geological mapping of the opal fields has shown that the sandstone is thickest in areas that have
produced large amounts of opal. Opal is rarely produced from areas in which the sandstone is thin or

2.2 OPAL PROSPECTING METHODS1
"Geological, geophysical or geochemical exploration techniques to locate the mining site"
Opal mining at Lightning Ridge takes place within Opal Prospecting Areas (OPAs) which are within
the four opal prospecting area (OPAs 1–4) designated within the Narran–Warrambool Reserve;
established over the Lightning Ridge Mineral Claims District in 1993, covering approximately 5000
square kilometres of land surrounding the Lightning Ridge opal fields.
The reserve was designed to protect the heritage of the small miner by preventing the granting of
large exploration licences and mining leases, effectively limiting operations to small scale mining.

Host: A Fictional Narrative
Spencer clipped the gunmetal watch onto his right wrist, fitting it snuggly alongside the Armani
bracelet a girl had given him as a present for his birthday a few months ago. He wore the bracelet
because she still came to the club and it was a nice bracelet. Running a hand a long his jaw he felt
the prickle of day old whiskers. Bright green eyes stared back at him from the glass; blonde hair was
slicked back away from his face. New York girls loved the biker/business man look.
He had to work the floor tonight; they had two birthdays and a bachelorette party on top of it, and
he's been demanded for two of them. He was looking forward to the money aspect, but not the chit
chat with the females whose names he'd forget by tomorrow. He shrugged into a black dress shirt,
leaving the top button undone to expose a little bit of his throat and collar bone. A black leather
jacket followed and he left the purposefully ripped jeans on, throwing on an Armani belt and his
biker boots. The leather band wound around his neck in a black line, while a silver mock dog tag,
dangled peeking out from his shirt. Rings littered his fingers and a bandanna was tied around his left
wrist, hiding the tattoo there.
Nothing that could distinguish him outside of the walls of his work. He liked to remain anonymous
when he wasn't in the club, sit down in a cafe and watch people walk by, catch a movie; act like a
man his age would, not catering to desperate females who came to a club to drink and

The Host In Canterbury Tales
The Host of Canterbury Tales (Chaucer)
In the Canterbury Tales the Host is the main person and the one who proposes the game the pilgrims
will play on the trip. The Host is assumed to be a jolly fellow, large, bright eyes, and is in charge of
the adventure the pilgrims were going on. The Host is explained to be a man who just wants to have
fun and very serious. The Host often also tries to keep everyone happy, basically like a peace keeper.
In the Canterbury Tales the host is not revealed but could be Chaucer, Harry Bailey, or other
pilgrims.
Chaucer is the author of the Canterbury Tales which is why it is assumed he is the Host. The Host is

Parasite-Host Relationships
Organisms in an ecosystem have relationships with individuals of their own species, individuals of
different species, and non–living resources. A group of different species living within an ecosystem
is called a community. The relationships within a community of organisms can be grouped into
different types of interactions, including predator–prey relationships and symbiotic relationships.
An animal that hunts and eats other animals is called a predator. The animal that gets eaten is called
a prey animal. Predator–prey relationships involve both adaptations of the predator to catch the prey
and adaptations of the prey to avoid the predator. Population sizes are also connected to this
relationship. When a prey population changes, the predator ... Show more content on

These are relationships in which individuals live close to each other for extended periods of time.
In a parasite–host relationship, one organism benefits at the expense of the other organism.
Typically, the host organism is not killed by the parasite. A tick attaching itself to a deer is an
example of a parasite–host relationship. The tick is the parasite, and the deer is the host.
In symbiotic mutualism, the two organisms benefit each other. A good example is the relationship
between some ants and acacia trees. Acacia trees have large thorns that the ants can hollow out and
live inside. The trees also excrete sweet nectar that feeds the resident ants. In return, the ants benefit
the acacia tree by attacking any insects that attempt to eat the tree.
Commensalism refers to a relationship in which one organism benefits and the other organism is not
significantly affected. The relationship between cattle and birds called cattle egrets is a good
example of commensalism. As cattle graze in grasslands, they disturb many insects that hide among
the grasses. Egrets follow the cattle and eat the insects that are disturbed by the grazing cattle. The
egrets benefit, but the cattle are not significantly affected by this

Pilgrim's Host
No one likes to be the butt of a joke, Pilgrim Chaucer included. In the Prologue to Sir Thopas, the
Host, Harry Bailey, a crude, hulking man, taunts Pilgrim Chaucer by making fun of his quiet
manners and delicate appearance. Lacking a physical advantage over the Host, Pilgrim Chaucer
wisely chooses to get back at him by using his wits. Rather than getting upset over Harry's slurs, the
Pilgrim takes his revenge in a more subtle way by telling a tale guaranteed to irritate his Host: a
lilting, ridiculous piece of fluff about a hopelessly effeminate knight called Sir Thopas. Through the
use of camp language and phallic symbols, Geoffrey Chaucer, in his poem the Tale of Sir Thopas,

The Host In The Canterbury Tales
On its surface, the Host's presence in the Merchant's account from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales
seems to portray the Host as empathetic towards the Merchant. This makes sense because the Host is
initially depicted as a Christ–like figure in the General Prologue. Close reading reveals, however,
that the deeper significance of the story is that the Host uses the Merchant as a mechanism to
express his own desires. Consequently, the Christ–like persona that the Host embodies in the
General Prologue becomes antithetical throughout the Merchant's story. This thesis will be
demonstrated by means of close reading, including reference to the following Principles of Close
Reading: Structure, Temporal Order, and Diction. Several instances in the General ... Show more

After the Host finishes talking about his own wife and the vices of women, he concludes with the
following statement: "To tellen al, wherfor my tale is do" (211.2440). Essentially, the Host says to
tell all, therefore his tale is finished. The use of the word "tale" embodies a much deeper
significance here. Because this word is used to describe each character's story, it appears as though
the Host has created his own story of sorts in The Epilogue. This supports the idea that the Host uses
the Merchant as a mechanism to exploit his own personal interests. For the Host tells the Merchant
what type of tale to tell, claiming that his tale is finished implies that the Host is actually in control
of the Merchant's story. Moreover, because the Host makes this statement in the very last line of The
Epilogue, there exists a sort of finality in his statement. The Host quite literally has the last word
here, which implies that he ultimately takes priority over the Merchant. In the end, the Host's
personal interests are at the forefront of this story, and the Merchant is merely a mechanism through
which the Host can prioritize his own

Host City Economy
For the host city to be determined it has to be appealing to tourist, sponsors and spectators. That is

The NFL, local governments and various associations of hotels and restaurants normally predict the
economic impact that the hosting will have on the city (Depken & Wilson, 2003). This mainly takes
into account the expenditure that the city is likely to incur while determining the real benefits that it
will get. For instance the police and fire departments are paid for the overtime hours that they work
to ensure safety and security is maintained. The spending is done according to the projected impact
and the extent to which the prevailing economy can allow. Tampa Bay had to scale back spending

Introduction and Goals
The goals of this lab were to install DNS, DHCP, NTP and OpenLDAP on a new RLES Red Had
Enterprise Linux server within the jps5374.corp domain. Both DHCP and DNS were services that I
have implemented before in System Administration I, so this section was mostly review. However,
NTP and OpenLDAP were services that I've never worked with, so this lab was my first
implementation. The overall idea for this lab was to install services and configure them with an
enterprise network in mind.
Procedure
Domain Name System
The first thing I did when setting up DNS was to install everything. Once I got everything installed,
it went right to the configuration files.
The first configuration file I worried about was named.conf. This file lets the named daemon know
where to find information about both forward and lookup zones.
Here is a screenshot of the named.conf file: Here is a screenshot of the forward lookup zone file:
This file is found at /var/named/forward.jps5374.corp. Here I am setting the name server at
serv.jps5374.corp, setting the serial number as the current date and making A records for all of the
clients that are on the network.
Here is a screenshot of the reverse lookup zone file:

Host Europe
Host Europe
Advancing CSR and Sustainability in a Medium–Sized IT Company
I. Introduction/Overview
Host Europe is a webhosting company in Germany. In 2009, it set a course for development of its
sustainability and corporate social responsibility strategy (Hahn, 2010, p. 1). Since then it has been
proactive in improving its energy efficiency and environmental performance (Hahn, 2010, p. 1). It
has also made a substantial effort to live up to its corporate social responsibility (Hahn, 2010, p. 1).
Corporate social responsibility means that a corporation should act in a way that enhances society
and its inhabitants and be held accountable for any of its actions that affect people, their
communities, and their environment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Host Europe should make an effort to educate its customers of the realities and benefits of
virtualization. If it is able to convince customers to switch to virtual servers, it will enhance its
profits by reduced energy costs. Host Europe may even consider pricing virtual servers lower than
dedicated servers, which are servers that do not share hardware. The loss of profit may be made up
through the previously mentioned reduced energy costs.
Highly Specialized and Gender Shift Employees
While Host Europe provides a wide range of benefits for employees (memberships for a local gym,
ergonomic workplaces, catered food, staff development, open–door policy, family benefits such as a
day–care for kids, etc.) there remains a low proportion of women currently working for the
company.
Host Europe can potentially increase the proportion of women by continuing to offer a family
friendly environment, which includes support in childcare and its own daycare center. There was no
mention of maternity leave, but this should also be highlighted and embedded as a benefit. The
company can also offer scholarships for women in the ICT sector to invest into the future.
The other issue Host Europe can address is their need to hire more specialized employees. The
company can obtain more specialized employees by investing in specialized

The Host: Movie Analysis
The way I see is that Americans are truly the villain in The Host. Americans do illegal, dangerous
actions in Korean, which causes the monster, so Koreans did not like and support how the US
operates in their country. For example, in the opening scene, an American ordered his Korean
subordinate to dump all the dusty bottle into Han river. It is so crazy and irresponsible. Through the
rest of the movie, there is an American doctor with a cross–eyed. That character looks like an idiot,
and by extension make the country he represents look idiotic too. Finally, when the US Military in
the film decided to use Agent Yellow to cleansing the area and to kill the monster. Koreans
organized demonstrations to against the release of Agent Yellow by the ... Show more content on

The importance and symbolism of this theme is food. Food is important part of national identity. It
is also an important part of Korean culture. For example, Gang Do worried that his daughter might
not have anything to eat. Huyn Seo and Se–joo discussed what they will eat after getting out the
sewer. At the end, Gang Do and Se Joo (his new son) are at the food home. They were watching
television and eating the dinner. However, Se Joo said that there is nothing good on the the news and
asked his father to turn off the TV. Then, they can enjoy their dinner. I think it is the message that
the director wants to send to Korea. Koreans should focus and remain the culture of South Korean
instead of consuming America culture. The film handle humor and horror sides by Gang Do
character. The conversations between Gang Do and other characters are often funny. There are
multiple scenes that Gang Do make audiences to go for a laugh even there are serious scenes. For
example, when the family was at a memory for the monster's victim, they were crying at her picture.
That scene makes audiences to feel sorry or terrible, but it also makes audiences to laugh. The point
of blending humor and horror is dialogues. Zombieland by Ruben Fleischer is one of the movies that

Malware Problem Analysis Paper
Problem
Malware, as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, "refers to a program that
is covertly inserted into another program with the intent to destroy data, run destructive or intrusive
programs, or otherwise compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the victim's data,
applications or operating system. (M. & K., 2013)" This is a threat to all companies with any type of
internet access and/or electronic information storage. That is currently a large number of both small
and big businesses.
Some important terms to take into account here is confidentiality, integrity and availability. These
terms are known as CIA and are the core principles of information security. Malware will affect all
three indefinitely if left unchecked. This will not only hurt a company's revenue but will potentially
also hurt their reputation if wide scale enough. Malware is, by Gulf South Tech Solutions,
considered to be the biggest threat to a business. With over 5,000 new malware attacks every day,
the average time to resolve being over 25 days, the average financial cost being $3 million, and over
60% of the websites that infect a computer being legitimate sites that were compromised makes
defense of paramount importance now more than ever. (Gulf South Technology Solutions, 2015)
Solution
The fix to the Malware problem is the implementation of the NIST SP 800–83 regulation. It covers
all aspects of malware handling and will assist in mitigating the

Dhcp, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol ( Dhcp )
DHCP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), allows a computer to join a network without
a statically assigned Internet Protocol (IP) address (Mitchell, n.d., para 1). With DHCP a device can
be assigned a unique IP address, as it joins the network (Mitchell, n.d., para 1). DHCP is done on a
server, and parameters are set on the pool of IP addresses that can be assigned (Mitchell, n.d., para
4). In Server 2012 there are options to allow for fault–tolerance for DHCP. The three options
available including, a failover cluster, setting up a split–scope DHCP, and a DHCP failover (De
Clercq, 2014). It is recommended that Kris Corporation uses fault–tolerance for DHCP. The
recommended method of fault–tolerance is DHCP failover, which is new in Server 2012. This
option can replicate a complete DHCP scope to another DHCP server (De Clercq, 2014). When
configuring there is an option to use a hot standby or to do load sharing (De Clercq, 2014). Hot
standby uses one server as the active DHCP server, the second server is only used if the first DHCP
server is not available (De Clercq, 2014). Load sharing uses both DHCP server at the same time, and
the request are shared between the two servers (De Clercq, 2014). Load sharing is the default option,
and the recommended option for Kris Corporation. Kris Corporation is interested in tracking IP
addresses of all of the devices on the network. This can be done using IP address Management
(IPAM) in Server 2012 ("What is

Airbnb Marketing Strategy
INTRODUCTION Airbnb, founded during the economic downturn of 2008, is one of many
innovative businesses operating within the growing shared economy. Airbnb offers an alternative to
the traditional hotel business and allows property owners, termed "hosts," to advertise and rent their
extra space, be it a spare room, apartment or treehouse. "Guests" search through the Airbnb website,
read reviews and connect with hosts to find less conventional and, often more, affordable lodging.
Key to Airbnb's business success is establishing a framework of trust on which both hosts and guests
can rely, a system Airbnb has developed through a strong marketing strategy and through specific
practices that support host and guest throughout the rental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

People are collaborating informally in their communities out of both necessity and as a lifestyle
choice. A sharing economy company should concentrate on branding, networking and experience to
ensure its success (Olson). Branding is key because sharing economy companies want consumers to
have confidence in their brand. The sharing economy is at an advantage, being relatively new with a
market that is interconnected through online commerce and social media. Outside of spreading the
work, a sense of community is built within the network. Finally, a sharing economy company has to
concentrate on customer experience. Customers are looking for ease of use and product value. When
these desires are met, consumers will return to use the service as well as recommend it to others.
One very successful example of a company with the sharing economy employing these factors is
Airbnb, who in less than a decade has built a major competitor to the centuries old hotel industry.
WHAT IS AIRBNB? Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia founded Airbnb in San Francisco, when they

Threats Facing The Server, Workstations, And Website
Recently, a series of security incidents on the company 's website, workstations, and network have
been brought to the attention of the company. These incidents include the slow and sluggish
behavior of workstations, advertisement pop ups on workstations not accessing the internet, deletion
and defacement of the website, and reports by customers of the website becoming unavailable.
While the incidents are being remediated, this has necessitated compiling information on potential
threats the company 's network assets face. In that endeavor, it is recommended to review this list of
the current top 5 threats facing the server, workstations, and website. Understanding how these
threats potentially impact the company is vital in developing controls and countermeasures to the
threats listed and could prevent additional future threats that take advantage of the same vectors.
Threats to the Server 1. Buffer Overflow Attack A buffer overflow attack is a threat to the server
with serious potential consequences. In a buffer overflow attack overly long input streams are sent
to the server. This will cause the server to overflow parts of the servers memory, the goal of the
attack will be to execute arbitrary code embedded in the input streams as if it was the servers code.
Even if the attack fails, it can cause a process, application, or the server to crash. Upon a successful
attack data can be added, destroyed, or an attacker can gain control of the server. Without data

Critic As Host
J. Hillis Miller's theoretical essay "A Critic as Host" demonstrates a deconstructive reading's
understanding of how a citation acts within an extraneous text, and whether the reading of it could
be univocal or equivocal. Miller introduces the relationship between a citation and the criticism it
dwells in as equal to the relationship of a parasite and host, where he defines the parasite as actively
consuming the host. However, Miller does not initially confirm which text is equivalent to parasite
and which to host, rather he explores this relationship by building on the structuralist idea of the
binary, the idea that the meaning of an object or idea is held in place by its opposition or
counterpart. Miller uses the foundation of structuralism

Perspective is something a scarce number of people consider when attempting to find a solution to
an issue. In The Host, written by Stephenie Meyer the importance of point of view is greatly
emphasized. Wanderer is the main character, and she is not from Earth. She has experienced many
lives on several planets, and in this story she has her view on the human race challenged when she
lives alongside them. The Host has a main idea that one's personal perspective is their reality until
they can see the other side. To begin, people who have lived their entire lives being told lies are not
likely to understand that what they have been told is false, unless someone or something proves it to
them. In The Host, Wanderer has lived her entire life acting

As was mentioned above, their core business is the supply–demand matching platform they create.
They tend to keep traditional activities and transactions outside of the company as much as they can.
Although they don't need to maintain or manage the buildings or any other physical property for
their business, their main challenge is to manage the information in their market platform. They also
need to find their suppliers rather than only managing only customers. 3. Double income sources,

The Host, a masterful blend of post–apocalyptic danger and moral dilemmas, has very few
characters that a reader can actually dislike. Between the modest and serene Wanda, explosive Kyle

completely understand. Jamie, the younger brother of Melanie seems oblivious to the fact that being

It is important to understand how media welfare is presented in both shows, what are the differences
and the similarities, once it is a strategy used in both cases, it is a value that is integrated with the
Makeover format. To analyze this strategy in two different contexts it is necessary to have a clear
understanding of what is media welfare. Welfare is described as being a strategy used by dominant
classes in society (Ruscheinsky,2000). Welfare is also part of media strategies. Known as media
welfare, it is when the audience believe that a channel, a show or a host are good and deserve to be
watched, because they help people, i this way perpetuating the dependency relationship, as in other
types of welfare (Augusti, 2007). The Reality TV show that promote that dependency give away
material prizes, amounts of money or provide services to the participants, that share their life stories
with the audience and the production of the show. The show uses this strategy in a way to promote
themselves. According to Redden (2007) by promoting this dependency, Makeover shows have the

Feminine Soul In The Host
In the opening of the novel, The Host (Meyer, 2010), the protagonist, a feminine soul, who comes to
be named Wanderer, has been placed in the body of Melanie, a twenty year old female "rebel" who
was caught as she tried to reunite with her still–human cousin, Sharon. Melanie, rather than be
caught by the "parasites" threw herself down an elevator shaft to escape the Seeker souls, encased in
human bodies, who were chasing her (Meyer, 2010, p. 12). Melanie is one of an unknown number
of remaining humans who have so far eluded being inserted with an alien soul during the past few
years of alien occupation on Earth (p. 18). The souls' silver bodies are small enough to fit in the

As a result, the social environment on Earth has become much less violent. As Wanda (short for
Wanderer) says, "No one could compare what had been and what was now and not admit that Earth
was better thanks to us" (Meyer, 2010, p. 60). In fact, soul–infected humans began being so kind to
one another that the remaining humans knew that something was changing. Keeping with the
dystopian genre framework there has been a cataclysmic change on Earth through this alien
invasion. Those humans who have not had an alien "inserted" into their brain now have to hide their
existence from the souls' Seekers who are less bothered by the use of violence than the other peace–
loving souls. Wanda and other souls see this as a sign that a Seeker is a lesser individual and "that
only the least civilized souls, the least evolved, the lesser among us, would be drawn to the path of
Seeker" (p. 22). However, on Earth, unlike on other planets where occupation was relatively easy,
humans have proven to be resistant to becoming hosts and the occupation has gone awry and has
turned into "a fierce and bloody battle" (p. 22). Therefore, the Seekers have had a greater influence
on the occupation as they hunt down and capture humans such as

Human Cognition In The Hosts
WestWorld's portrayal of artificial intelligence draws both similarities and differences to true human
cognition. Within the world of the show, Hosts are controlled via a tablet and are programed to
attend to Newcomer's fantasies. While the Newcomers can do whatever they like to the Host, the
Hosts literally cannot hurt the Newcomers. The Hosts operate without knowledge of what they are,
aka not human. However, in many aspects they function similarly to human cognition.
The components of cognition that Humans and Host can in common are all functions that shape how
they interpret the world and the world interprets them. The declarative memory component of Long–

They have no free will, no sense of self preservation, both of which are keystones of humanity.
These Host characteristics come from the strictly controlled nature of their intentions to act. With
Humans, intentions to act are made only briefly before the action occurs, six seconds to be exact
(Perilloux, 1/25/17). Whereas with Hosts, actions are built in, such as Hosts inability to harm
Newcomers (WestWorld #1), and specifically formulated to play into storylines written by
programmers. This gives Hosts themselves have no control of their own actions or the intentions
behind them. We see Maeve confronted with this lack of free will when Bernard shows her her own
programming, and we see that every last action that she thought was of her own doing was actually
scripted out, down to the last word (WestWorld #10). In Humans, memory errors can occur through,
decay, interference, and retrieval failure (Perilloux, 3/1/17). Though these errors can happen due to
the passage of time or the weakening of pathway strength, they are not purposeful. However for
Host, memory errors are less errors and more specific erasing in order to reset a storyline. They are a
result of deliberate interference. We see this repeated use of controlled memory errors, or wiping of
the Hosts in the repeated scenes of characters waking up in their beds and starting a new day
(WestWorld #1). This departure from human cognition ties back into the overall difference of a lack
of control over their own actions, and brain

She is the soul that has been placed inside the body of an unwilling human host that once belonged
to a girl named Melanie Stryder. Her true form owns the same appearance as all "souls"; ghostly,
silver, and reflective with many small, feather–like attachments. However, while inhabiting the body
of her host, Melanie Stryder, she obtains her physical attributes, which include tan skin and long,
dark, and glossy hair. Her name implies her traits; she was named Wanderer because, in her previous
eight lives, she had traveled to many planets and knows little to nothing about human culture and
behavior, making her stick out of the crowd of humans. It is safe to assume that she is a pacifist, for
she states in the book multiple times that her kind doesn't believe in violence. At the end of the
book, Wanderer is placed into another host and gains long, golden hair, freckles, gray eyes, a
dimple, and a decrease in height. She becomes delicate and petite, for the soul that was in the body

Melanie Stryder is a major character in the book, for she is the previous owner of the body that
Wanderer was placed into. She is quite defiant in the beginning, refusing to cooperate and allow
Wanderer to take over her body completely. This creates conflict for both girls because they are
nothing alike. Melanie is very determined and is known to have a negative mind,

The Bungling Host Summary

  • 1. The Bungling Host Summary Group 1, Question C) One of the stories that I thought was mostly for entertainment was "The Story of Ong". From what I noticed was that in most of the stories it taught some sort of lesson or tells us why things are the way they are. But in this story there wasn't really anything that we learned from it. For example, in "Damollale and the Water Baby" at the end it says, "Then the lake returned to its original bed, but as it retreated it left water in all the depressions in the area. That is why there are many small lakes in the mountains near Lake Tahoe," which is directly telling us what we need to know from hearing this story (Glotfetly 27). But in the story of the Washo and the Ong, It just tells us how the Washo managed to escape safely. But even though the story was short it kept us at edge and intrigued the whole time. Group 2, Question B) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the "Bungling Host" it tell us the reason why certain animals look the way they do, it also has a lot of unnecessary details. While reading it I was expecting a different ending. But it tells us that the Coyote pushes in the Wildcats nose while the Wildcat sharpens and makes the Coyote's nose pointy (Glotfelty 9). While in ""Wolf and Coyote–Origin of Death" it is more direct and get to the point a lot faster. It was also a bit more predictable. In this story the wolf wants to make humans immortal, but the coyote tells him no because humans are old enough they die and he enjoys eating them (Glotfelty 24). One thing I noticed that is similar between both stories is that the coyote character is the reason why things turned out the way they are; the Coyote character is the reason why humans die, and the reason why wildcats and coyotes have the noses they ... • 3. Snail Host Compatibility General concept of snail host compatibility in schistosome infection It is conceptualised that digenean trematodes were primitively parasites of molluscs; they only later learned to utilise vertebrate hosts as a result of evolutionary host switching (Muller and Wakelin, 2002; Lockyer et al., 2004). Nevertheless, transmission of vector–borne parasites is eminently dependent on the degree of vector susceptibility. In a vector–parasite system, compatibility occurs when the parasite is capable of infecting and being transmitted through the vector and this compatibility is often at the specie or strain level for both parasite and vector (Lockyer et al., 2004; Perrin et al., 2013). In contrast to the non–schistosome molluscan vectors such as Lymnaea truncatula and Physa acuta, higher levels of calcium (Ca2+) and linoleate in Biomphalaria and Bulinus vectors make them a suitable host ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Red Queen hypothesis is based on the assumption that parasite must genetically match its host for a successful infection (King et al., 2011) and therefore, they must both have an adaptive molecular dialogue. Compatibility polymorphism where some parasite strains are compatible with certain host strains but not with others and vice versa also occurs (Mitta et al., 2012; Perrin et al., 2013). Strains such as BS–90, 13–16–R1 and 10–R2 displaying resistance, and susceptible strains such as the M–line and NMRI serve as a means to evaluate and better understand the driving mechanisms underpinning snail resistance and susceptibility (Pila et al., 2016). The susceptibility or resistance of a snail to schistosome infection is a heritable characteristic, and both snail and parasite genetic constitutions shape the outcome of infection. In Biomphalaria species, resistance appears to be a dominant character. The expression of a single dominant gene during the adulthood of some Biomphalaria glabrata stocks confers their resistance to S. mansoni infection whereas, susceptibility in ... • 5. The Host The Host, produced in 2013, is an American sci–fi, romantic, thriller movie adapted from the novel written by Stephanie Meyer, writer of the Twilight series. It is told from the perspective of Melanie, a young woman who is captured by the parasitic aliens named "Souls" after the human race is taken over. Andrew Niccol brings yet another adrenaline–filled movies to the big screen. Who successfully wrote "The Truman Show" (1998). We meet Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan), after she has recently been inhabited by a "Soul". She somehow manages to retain her own identity, which rarely happens. This leads to conversations between soul Melanie, known as Wanderer, and Earth Melanie. Soon Wanderer trusts that what Melanie is telling her to do is the right thing, and goes to find Melanie's family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once reunited, they hide from the soul patrols in search cars and helicopters, allowing "The Host" to live in Melanie's body, as she is causing no harm, until they can find an alternative body. Andrew Niccol co–wrote the script with Stephanie Meyer. His films' ground rules limit the depth and variety of possible relationships, and "The Host" is top–heavy with profound, deep conversations, all tending to sound like farewells. This movie really opens your eyes to how two beings, completely opposite to each other, can form a bond and friendships stronger than any other. And it makes you wonder why, in society, racism exists at all. If two creature nothing alike can find harmony, why can't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Evolution Of Host Parasite Relationships Betsy Gladden Evolution Case Study #1 Dr. Amanda Duffus The Evolution of Host–Parasite Relationships Since Darwin's "dangerous" idea in the nineteenth century, the causes and significances of evolution have been investigated unceasingly. One evident example of evolution is between parasite and host relationships, in which host and parasite partners maximize their own fitness, by evolving to reduce the fitness of the other. Parasites are hypothesized to evolve and cause hosts to evolve, as well as promoting sexual recombination. There are two major hypotheses of evolution pertaining to host– parasite relationships: the Red Queen hypothesis and the Red King model. The Red Queen hypothesis claims that there is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientist Van Valen used this as a metaphor for the evolutionary race saying that species keep running (evolving) to stay in the same place, but if they stop, they become extinct. This theory has been consistently added to and built upon by G. Bell in 1982, who applied it to host and parasite relationships, showing how evolution affects genotype frequencies and that changes come from maintaining sexual reproduction. (Lively, 2010) The Red Queen hypothesis demonstrates how species rely on competition for initiating evolution, and how there is a domino effect of change causing change. (Barnett and Hansen, 1996) In studies done by Barnett and Hansen (1996) using an organizational approach, evidence was found for Red Queen evolution in that organizations exhibited less failure if there was more competition. The research used banks as a model, and the results showed that in places only one existed, there was an advantage of a monopoly, but did not have any experience when exposed to competition. (Barnett and Hansen, 1996) The Red Queen hypothesis also shows that selection favors hosts that have rare resistance alleles. There also is research that shows generation time affects selection for sex, in that the longer it takes to reproduce, the more opportunity there is for evolution. The Red Queen hypothesis suggests that when in regard to parasite and host relationships, when parasites are low in number, the costs of sex outweigh the benefits and ... • 9. Host Stereotypes It is well known that is normal for a host society to create stereotypes in regards to new non–native groups. To be more accurate, stereotypes occur because diverse groups possess their own primary characteristics that are different from the host group's features. Karel D.Bicha presented two types of possible stereotypes such as negative and positive. It all depends how the diverse group acts when introduced to the host society. If diverse group adapts to the mores and ethics of the host society within fast time, stereotypes wouldn't exist. Respectively, if diverse group starts pushing its own characteristics without accepting the host's way of doing things, then there might be created a negative stereotype. From one side stereotypes provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these groups held high social statuses. Jews and Italians were both known to contribute to the introduction of alcohol. Jews used wine for their religious practices; however, Italians used wine for their culinary processes. Jewish were known to own businesses and play a major role in a commercial–agricultural industry same as Italians. Crime rate indicator is a major factor that shows the difference in diverse cultural groups. Slavic group was known to have very low criminal rate. Mostly drunk bar fights and minor–theft. Jews were the group with almost no criminal record; thus, if something ever happened police knew it wasn't anything serious. However, Italians had talent in creating criminals. They held the highest criminal rate in American society. Boarding was another factor that distinguished several diverse groups. Slavs were labeled as cheap men (hunky labor); thus, they were boarding with non–family members as well. They were trying to economize. This further showed a negative result on Slavic groups by lowering the tone of family life. Some Slavic male tenants (except Czechs) contacted owners to provide them full boarding which included wife of the tenant besides the house. Jewish and Italians preferred family boarding on their ... • 11. Host Pastor WELCOME ADDRESS by Host Pastor The great God that deserves to be praised greatly is our God (Psalm 145:3). Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever. Hallelujah! It was just like yesterday when the Lord told us three years before this parish was birthed that we would be coming to Akron. As it is written, "Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase," we have seen God's faithfulness over the last seven years in every life, every marriage, every home in the church, in the parish and in our land. Our ever faithful, ever true Lord and Savior has proven Himself in innumerable ways as "The Alpha and the Omega." We remember the Stow Ohio dinner with friends held on Sunday, May 9th 2010. HE has shown that He alone has the final say in the affairs of men, "The Almighty." As our Helper, He told us we are stepping into "our season of help." HE is still manifesting Himself as the ever– fresh, ever–new God, the God of "a new thing." In His mercy HE taught us the "power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ha! As it is written, you are "complete in Him" (Colossians 2:10), I prophesy a completion for you, your household, your vocation and your ministry IJN! Even as the Lord had to touch the blind man twice (Mark 8: 22–25) to bring restoration and completion his way. I rejoice with you, as you rejoice with the RCCG Jesus House Akron as we celebrate seven years of God's faithfulness that the Sovereign Lord himself will give you strength and support, and make you complete in every good thing (1 Peter 5:10). • 13. Types Of The Human Host All bacteria require certain amounts of transition metals to sustain life. These metals are necessary to carry out important metabolic processes in the cell. Among other things, transition metals can act as cofactors and they can be incorporated into metalloenzymes, transcription factors and storage proteins (10). A. baumannii requires efficient mechanisms to acquire these transition metals, especially when confined in a human host. The human host carries an abundant amount of metals that can be harnessed by invading pathogens. To hinder a bacterium's exploitation of these metals, the human host employs a variety of techniques collectively termed "nutritional immunity" (10). For instance, calprotectin (CP) in the host chelates intracellular stores of manganese (Mn) and zinc (Zn) to inhibit bacterial growth [5]. All pathogens require essential metals such as iron to sustain life. Iron is a significant component in oxidative phosphorylation, contributing to ATP production (21). The human host also sequesters iron via various mechanisms in an attempt to further inhibit bacterial growth. These iron limitation strategies include storing iron intracellularly by complexing it to ferritin, serum transferrin and lactoferrin in mucosal surfaces (10). In the blood, iron is also complexed to heme (10). Even when a red blood cell is lysed, hemoglobin is quickly bound by haptoglabin and free heme is bound by hemeopexin (Hpx), further limiting A. baumannii's access to iron (10). ... • 15. Security Issues With Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Abstract– The paper discusses security issues with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and four different approaches proposed to secure DHCP. DHCP assigns network parameters to existing and new clients. A misconfigured client is a big security breach as the traffic from and to such client can be intercepted. The two main issues with DHCP are rogue server and Media Access Control (MAC) address spoofing. The techniques discussed in the paper attempt at solving these problems by encrypting the plain text send in DHCP, using digital signatures and key exchange algorithms to maintain data integrity and security. 1. Introduction– Internet grew rapidly over the last few decades. This has led to increase in the size of networks and number of network devices. The network infrastructure today needs improvement and changes daily, so adding new devices to network is very essential. The traditional way of assigning network configuration to clients with the help of a network administrator is difficult. DHCP has now owned the responsibility to perform this task. DHCP has its security issues because at the time of its development internet security was not as important as dynamic allocation of the network parameters were [2]. The major security concern in DHCP is interception of plaintext messages and illegitimate client or server that compromises the network. In section 4 of the paper, four different techniques to secure DHCP have been discussed. The first approach makes use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story includes many positive and negative examples of proper behavior of a host to his guest. A proper host would have three main qualities. These qualities are being respectful to their guest, offering them a place to stay, and providing them with food. Odysseus, being the guest, has encountered many hosts on his journey with very different personalities. Polyphemus is a more negative and improper host with a bad quality of eating Odysseus's crew. When Odysseus is first greeted by Polyphemus on a island home to cyclopes, two men of Odysseus's crew are eaten and Odysseus and the rest are trapped with Polyphemus. The men couldn't leave and became food for the cyclops. Eventually, they devised a plan to escape and leave the island. Seeking revenge, Polyphemus asked his father, Poseidon, to make sure that Odysseus never returns home. Polyphemus is not a very polite host eating and attacking his guests. Opal deposits mainly occur in Cretaceous rocks formed 65 to 135 million years ago within the Great Australian Basin. Opal is found at shallow depths in sedimentary rocks through which there has been considerable silica seepage into cavities and other structures where gradual loss of water from the silica gel has resulted in hardening of the material and the formation of opal. Host rocks contained a variety of voids formed by the weathering process, which leached carbonate from boulders, nodules, fossils, cracks, hollow centres of ironstone nodules and horizontal seams. Host: A Fictional Narrative Spencer clipped the gunmetal watch onto his right wrist, fitting it snuggly alongside the Armani bracelet a girl had given him as a present for his birthday a few months ago. He wore the bracelet because she still came to the club and it was a nice bracelet. Running a hand a long his jaw he felt the prickle of day old whiskers. Bright green eyes stared back at him from the glass; blonde hair was slicked back away from his face. New York girls loved the biker/business man look. He had to work the floor tonight; they had two birthdays and a bachelorette party on top of it, and he's been demanded for two of them. He was looking forward to the money aspect, but not the chit chat with the females whose names he'd forget by tomorrow. He shrugged into a black dress shirt, leaving the top button undone to expose a little bit of his throat and collar bone. A black leather jacket followed and he left the purposefully ripped jeans on, throwing on an Armani belt and his biker boots. The leather band wound around his neck in a black line, while a silver mock dog tag, dangled peeking out from his shirt. Rings littered his fingers and a bandanna was tied around his left wrist, hiding the tattoo there. Nothing that could distinguish him outside of the walls of his work. A good example is the relationship between some ants and acacia trees. Acacia trees have large thorns that the ants can hollow out and live inside. The trees also excrete sweet nectar that feeds the resident ants. In return, the ants benefit the acacia tree by attacking any insects that attempt to eat the tree. Commensalism refers to a relationship in which one organism benefits and the other organism is not significantly affected. In the Prologue to Sir Thopas, the Host, Harry Bailey, a crude, hulking man, taunts Pilgrim Chaucer by making fun of his quiet manners and delicate appearance. Lacking a physical advantage over the Host, Pilgrim Chaucer wisely chooses to get back at him by using his wits. Rather than getting upset over Harry's slurs, the Pilgrim takes his revenge in a more subtle way by telling a tale guaranteed to irritate his Host: a lilting, ridiculous piece of fluff about a hopelessly effeminate knight called Sir Thopas. • 35. The Host In The Canterbury Tales On its surface, the Host's presence in the Merchant's account from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales seems to portray the Host as empathetic towards the Merchant. This makes sense because the Host is initially depicted as a Christ–like figure in the General Prologue. Close reading reveals, however, that the deeper significance of the story is that the Host uses the Merchant as a mechanism to express his own desires. Consequently, the Christ–like persona that the Host embodies in the General Prologue becomes antithetical throughout the Merchant's story. This thesis will be demonstrated by means of close reading, including reference to the following Principles of Close Reading: Structure, Temporal Order, and Diction. After the Host finishes talking about his own wife and the vices of women, he concludes with the following statement: "To tellen al, wherfor my tale is do" (211.2440). Essentially, the Host says to tell all, therefore his tale is finished. The use of the word "tale" embodies a much deeper significance here. Because this word is used to describe each character's story, it appears as though the Host has created his own story of sorts in The Epilogue. This supports the idea that the Host uses the Merchant as a mechanism to exploit his own personal interests. For the Host tells the Merchant what type of tale to tell, claiming that his tale is finished implies that the Host is actually in control of the Merchant's story. Moreover, because the Host makes this statement in the very last line of The Epilogue, there exists a sort of finality in his statement. The Host quite literally has the last word here, which implies that he ultimately takes priority over the Merchant. In the end, the Host's personal interests are at the forefront of this story, and the Merchant is merely a mechanism through which the Host can prioritize his own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dhcp, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol ( Dhcp ) DHCP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), allows a computer to join a network without a statically assigned Internet Protocol (IP) address (Mitchell, n.d., para 1). With DHCP a device can be assigned a unique IP address, as it joins the network (Mitchell, n.d., para 1). DHCP is done on a server, and parameters are set on the pool of IP addresses that can be assigned (Mitchell, n.d., para 4). In Server 2012 there are options to allow for fault–tolerance for DHCP. The three options available including, a failover cluster, setting up a split–scope DHCP, and a DHCP failover (De Clercq, 2014). It is recommended that Kris Corporation uses fault–tolerance for DHCP. This will cause the server to overflow parts of the servers memory, the goal of the attack will be to execute arbitrary code embedded in the input streams as if it was the servers code. Even if the attack fails, it can cause a process, application, or the server to crash. Upon a successful attack data can be added, destroyed, or an attacker can gain control of the server. Without data execution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. Critic As Host J. Hillis Miller's theoretical essay "A Critic as Host" demonstrates a deconstructive reading's understanding of how a citation acts within an extraneous text, and whether the reading of it could be univocal or equivocal. Miller introduces the relationship between a citation and the criticism it dwells in as equal to the relationship of a parasite and host, where he defines the parasite as actively consuming the host. However, Miller does not initially confirm which text is equivalent to parasite and which to host, rather he explores this relationship by building on the structuralist idea of the binary, the idea that the meaning of an object or idea is held in place by its opposition or counterpart. Miller uses the foundation of structuralism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Perspective In The Host Perspective is something a scarce number of people consider when attempting to find a solution to an issue. In The Host, written by Stephenie Meyer the importance of point of view is greatly emphasized. Wanderer is the main character, and she is not from Earth. She has experienced many lives on several planets, and in this story she has her view on the human race challenged when she lives alongside them. The Host has a main idea that one's personal perspective is their reality until they can see the other side. To begin, people who have lived their entire lives being told lies are not likely to understand that what they have been told is false, unless someone or something proves it to them. Introduction Of New Networking Company Introduction of new networking company IT does indeed have a lot of influence on traditional hospitality businesses, such as hotels and bed and breakfasts, which own properties and run the businesses in them. Neural network, sharing economic, etc... these terms are not new, nevertheless, it is the information technology that realizes the full potential and capabilities of these ideas. They tend to keep traditional activities and transactions outside of the company as much as they can. Although they don't need to maintain or manage the buildings or any other physical property for their business, their main challenge is to manage the information in their market platform. They also need to find their suppliers rather than only managing only customers. 3. Double income sources, two–sided networks. As they are acting as a matching medium, they have to satisfy the needs of a group of people. It increases their costs, but also increase their revenue. Unlike the traditional travel companies who only have one large income source from their customers, these companies have two part of smaller income sources; one is from the "hosts" and the other is from the "travelers". Moreover, their targets are wider than traditional traveling companies. Since they are charging a small fee, they need to scale up their booking in order to make profit. Therefore, they have to find a way to better identify and discriminate their target audience. • 63. The Host Character Analysis The Host, a masterful blend of post–apocalyptic danger and moral dilemmas, has very few characters that a reader can actually dislike. Between the modest and serene Wanda, explosive Kyle and calculated Jeb there is only one character that I feel like someone can't connect with, or completely understand. Jamie, the younger brother of Melanie seems oblivious to the fact that being one of the few surviving humans makes him priceless to the furthering of the human revolution. He is willing to put the rest of the colony at risk, all on the word of their biggest enemy. It may be the body of his sister, but he has spent his entire life running from the silver eyed 'parasites' that now inhabit the body of Melanie. The fact that he is so easily persuaded ... Host Discourse when the makeover formats are distributed worldwide, showing families that are unhappy and have personal issues receive the help of the show and have their houses renovated or reconstructed as being a solutions for their life issues. That idea is being perpetuated around the world. The show intensifies Americans' already increasing use of extrinsic, material solutions to fill in intrinsic holes in their consciousness, such as a need for security, happiness, and belonging (De Graaf et al.115). Materialism is also part of this values being spread, once it is a preoccupation with material objects combined with a belief that those material good will ultimately provide one with the greatest happiness and contentment in life (Ratliff, 2007). 2) What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to understand how media welfare is presented in both shows, what are the differences and the similarities, once it is a strategy used in both cases, it is a value that is integrated with the Makeover format. To analyze this strategy in two different contexts it is necessary to have a clear understanding of what is media welfare. Welfare is described as being a strategy used by dominant classes in society (Ruscheinsky,2000). Welfare is also part of media strategies. Known as media welfare, it is when the audience believe that a channel, a show or a host are good and deserve to be watched, because they help people, i this way perpetuating the dependency relationship, as in other types of welfare (Augusti, 2007). The Reality TV show that promote that dependency give away material prizes, amounts of money or provide services to the participants, that share their life stories with the audience and the production of the show. The show uses this strategy in a way to promote themselves. According to Redden (2007) by promoting this dependency, Makeover shows have the ability to modify attitudes, behaviours and ... • 67. Feminine Soul In The Host In the opening of the novel, The Host (Meyer, 2010), the protagonist, a feminine soul, who comes to be named Wanderer, has been placed in the body of Melanie, a twenty year old female "rebel" who was caught as she tried to reunite with her still–human cousin, Sharon. Melanie, rather than be caught by the "parasites" threw herself down an elevator shaft to escape the Seeker souls, encased in human bodies, who were chasing her (Meyer, 2010, p. 12). Melanie is one of an unknown number of remaining humans who have so far eluded being inserted with an alien soul during the past few years of alien occupation on Earth (p. 18). The souls' silver bodies are small enough to fit in the palm of a human's hand and have thousands of long, thin, feathery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, the social environment on Earth has become much less violent. As Wanda (short for Wanderer) says, "No one could compare what had been and what was now and not admit that Earth was better thanks to us" (Meyer, 2010, p. 60). In fact, soul–infected humans began being so kind to one another that the remaining humans knew that something was changing. Keeping with the dystopian genre framework there has been a cataclysmic change on Earth through this alien invasion. Those humans who have not had an alien "inserted" into their brain now have to hide their existence from the souls' Seekers who are less bothered by the use of violence than the other peace– loving souls. Wanda and other souls see this as a sign that a Seeker is a lesser individual and "that only the least civilized souls, the least evolved, the lesser among us, would be drawn to the path of Seeker" (p. 22). However, on Earth, unlike on other planets where occupation was relatively easy, humans have proven to be resistant to becoming hosts and the occupation has gone awry and has turned into "a fierce and bloody battle" (p. 22). Therefore, the Seekers have had a greater influence on the occupation as they hunt down and capture humans such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Human Cognition In The Hosts WestWorld's portrayal of artificial intelligence draws both similarities and differences to true human cognition. Within the world of the show, Hosts are controlled via a tablet and are programed to attend to Newcomer's fantasies. While the Newcomers can do whatever they like to the Host, the Hosts literally cannot hurt the Newcomers. The Hosts operate without knowledge of what they are, aka not human. However, in many aspects they function similarly to human cognition. The components of cognition that Humans and Host can in common are all functions that shape how they interpret the world and the world interprets them. The declarative memory component of Long– Term memory operates very similarly to human memory. The components of a Host's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have no free will, no sense of self preservation, both of which are keystones of humanity. These Host characteristics come from the strictly controlled nature of their intentions to act. With Humans, intentions to act are made only briefly before the action occurs, six seconds to be exact (Perilloux, 1/25/17). Whereas with Hosts, actions are built in, such as Hosts inability to harm Newcomers (WestWorld #1), and specifically formulated to play into storylines written by programmers. This gives Hosts themselves have no control of their own actions or the intentions behind them. We see Maeve confronted with this lack of free will when Bernard shows her her own programming, and we see that every last action that she thought was of her own doing was actually scripted out, down to the last word (WestWorld #10). In Humans, memory errors can occur through, decay, interference, and retrieval failure (Perilloux, 3/1/17). Though these errors can happen due to the passage of time or the weakening of pathway strength, they are not purposeful. However for Host, memory errors are less errors and more specific erasing in order to reset a storyline. They are a result of deliberate interference. We see this repeated use of controlled memory errors, or wiping of the Hosts in the repeated scenes of characters waking up in their beds and starting a new day (WestWorld #1). This departure from human cognition ties back into the overall difference of a lack of control over their own actions, and brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her name is Kim Helvaty and she currently lives in Brownsburg in Indiana. I used to talk to her a lot because she is easy to talk to. Also, since she was my guardian, I had to update my plan to her so I had much time to talk to her. However, I came to the university, and everything is totally different than high school. I am so thankful to all my host family because I could adapt well to the new place in different state without guardians. On March 6th, I called to Kim through Facetime. Her true form owns the same appearance as all "souls"; ghostly, silver, and reflective with many small, feather–like attachments. However, while inhabiting the body of her host, Melanie Stryder, she obtains her physical attributes, which include tan skin and long, dark, and glossy hair. Her name implies her traits; she was named Wanderer because, in her previous eight lives, she had traveled to many planets and knows little to nothing about human culture and behavior, making her stick out of the crowd of humans. It is safe to assume that she is a pacifist, for she states in the book multiple times that her kind doesn't believe in violence. At the end of the book, Wanderer is placed into another host and gains long, golden hair, freckles, gray eyes, a dimple, and a decrease in height. She becomes delicate and petite, for the soul that was in the body last was that way. Melanie Stryder is a major character in the book, for she is the previous owner of the body that Wanderer was placed into. She is quite defiant in the beginning, refusing to cooperate and allow Wanderer to take over her body completely. This creates conflict for both girls because they are nothing alike. A few chapters in we had met these characters and could remember for yourself what race they were. With racism such a relevant topic in the current media, i could not help but constantly be distracted but the stereotypes Cook snuck into each page. Michael was never written about as a person but always an african american in a hospital full of white people. The contrast of michael to everyone else, might of helped in the initial character development phase but it was so blatantly thrown in throughout the whole book that it took away from how great of a character Michael Pender truly was. Michael was not the only great character. The book had many great characters and storylines. It just took a large amount of decoding to pull them out. The book was split into three parts, and by far the third part was the best written. The sense of adventure and urgence finally shone through leaving readers on the edge of there seat. Robin ...
