INTRODUCTION
 The COEX, Convention and Exhibition Center is
a large-scale business town established on
September 7, 1988, primarily for domestic and
overseas businessmen.
 A 57-story assembly hall contains 20 trade
organizations including the Korea International
Trade Association (KITA), as well as 250
companies and financial institutions.
 Convention and Exhibition, which houses three
specialized exhibition halls and permanent
exhibition halls, is composed of a four-story
main building and three-story extension.
 Total Area(m²): 106,612

 Formerly known as KOEX (Korea
Exhibition), the newly renamed Coex
Convention & Exhibition Center is a large
and expanding business town located in
Samseong-dong of Gangnam-gu district,
Seoul and was established on September
7, 1988. The outstanding architecture of
this building was designed by American
architect Larry Oltmanns.

Grand Ballroom
 Being Situated on the lobby(1st) floor of COEX
Annex Building, Grand Ball Room having the
capacity of about 1,800 persons in the size of
1,815m2 is one of the best multi-purpose places
for elegant events.
 Depending on the size and the nature of event,
the Room can be used wholly or divided into 3
to 5 rooms.
 It is fully equipped with 16-language
simultaneous interpretation system of IrDA
wireless method, state of the art presentation
system, audio visual equipment of the highest
quality, and lighting system.
Also, catering service of deluxe hotel class is
served.

COEX Artium
 Coex Artium is designed to minimize the distance between the audience seating and
the stage and to express the expression and emotion of the actor.
 In addition, the sound intelligibility and distribution are thoroughly studied, 1.3
seconds of reverberation time realizes richer sound.
 The use of various stage equipment by the stage where numerous patterns and
advanced techniques were introduced and promptly change the scene. By using such
advanced devices, audiences can enjoy dynamic performances shortly after feeling
bored.
 It was designed not only for public facilities but also for performance rooms for
dressing rooms, actors, directors, staff, etc, considering air conditioning and
movement flow lines.

ASEM Hall Meeting Rooms
 Remodeled in 2018, Conference Room North features asymmetrical meetings
rooms on both sides of rooms 201–203(ASEM Ballroom) in the center. Rooms 201–
203 holds a combined theater-style seating capacity for over 900 and has been
renamed as the ASEM Ballroom in commemoration of the 3rd ASEM Summit
which was hosted here in 2000. The facilities are well-suited for large-scale events,
especially when used in accompaniment with the Grand Ballroom on the first floor.
The twelve small to medium-sized meeting rooms flanking rooms 201-203 can be
used not only for seminars and conferences but also as executive offices and
waiting rooms.

NORTH WING
 ① Grand Ballroom
 The Grand Ballroom is a 1,817m² pillar-free space that can be divided into five sections. It is ideal for conference breakout
sessions and combined conference/exhibition events.
 ② Conference Room North
 This 12-room complex is centered around the historic ASEM Hall, a circular summit venue with 17 simultaneous translation
booths. The grandly decorated hall was host to world leaders during the Asia-Europe Meeting in 2000.
 ③ Auditorium
 The sweeping 1,080-seat Auditorium is furnished with a superb acoustics and a built-in translation system, making it ideal for
international conferences. The 998m² lobby’s glass wall faces the historic Bongeunsa Temple across the street. South Wing
 ④ Hall E
 Hall E is a 1,620m² multipurpose space that divides into 6 sections. The modern, carpeted hall can host exhibitions, conferences,
or banquets.
 ⑤ Conference Room South
 This two-story conference complex holds 31 diverse rooms in total, with capacities ranging from 12 to 300. It is also the location
of Coex’s second tiered auditorium, Room 401, which seats 441 guests.
EXHIBITION HALLS
 Coex’s four exhibition halls are the most popular venues for trade shows in Korea. Each hall
connects directly to spacious loading docks, and is equipped with expansive utility trenches.
Halls A and B on the first floor connect via swing space, as do halls C and D on the third floor.
 ① Hall A
 Hall A is a 10,368m² space. Its size and location next to the Coex Mall entrance makes it the
center’s most popular exhibition facility.
 ② Hall B
 This 8,010 m² hall near the North Wing can be divided into two spaces. Its white LED lighting
renovation makes it ideal for art exhibitions.
 ③ Hall C
 Hall C is a 10,348m² space with a large pillar-free middle section. The hall can hold 520 booths
or up to 10,000 guests for concerts.
 ④ Hall D
 Hall D is a completely pillar-free 7,281m² plenary hall that can hold 6,500 guests. Its honey-
colored wooden interior makes it excellent for both convention sessions or exhibitions.
Green Facilities
 RAINWATER RE-USE AND GRAY WATER TREATMENT
SYSTEM
 Waste water with low levels of toxicity, are recycled
through COEX’s gray water treatment facilities
 The recycled water is used in toilets and urinals in the
convention center complex.
 The output of the grey water treatment system is 500
cubic meters per day and 142000 cubic meters per year,
which reduces yearly carbon emissions by 83 tonnes
URBAN GREEN SPACES
 Three “Green spaces” have been created so far around
the COEX premises: the ASEM garden(2050 m2), Piano
fountain park(4510 m2), and Exhibition Hall Roof
Garden(988m2).
Flooring
 Polished concrete flooring was installed in place of
wasteful carpet flooring, which has to be replaced
constantly due to wear and tear from exhibitions
 In the underground parking lots, flooring was renovated
with eco-friendly epoxy.

INTRODUCTION  The COEX, Convention and Exhibition Center is a large-scale business town established on September 7, 1988, primarily for domestic and overseas businessmen.  A 57-story assembly hall contains 20 trade organizations including the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), as well as 250 companies and financial institutions.  Convention and Exhibition, which houses three specialized exhibition halls and permanent exhibition halls, is composed of a four-story main building and three-story extension.

Rooms 201– 203 holds a combined theater-style seating capacity for over 900 and has been renamed as the ASEM Ballroom in commemoration of the 3rd ASEM Summit which was hosted here in 2000. The facilities are well-suited for large-scale events, especially when used in accompaniment with the Grand Ballroom on the first floor.   • 54. NORTH WING  ① Grand Ballroom  The Grand Ballroom is a 1,817m² pillar-free space that can be divided into five sections. It is ideal for conference breakout sessions and combined conference/exhibition events.  ② Conference Room North  This 12-room complex is centered around the historic ASEM Hall, a circular summit venue with 17 simultaneous translation booths. The grandly decorated hall was host to world leaders during the Asia-Europe Meeting in 2000.  ③ Auditorium  The sweeping 1,080-seat Auditorium is furnished with a superb acoustics and a built-in translation system, making it ideal for international conferences. The 998m² lobby’s glass wall faces the historic Bongeunsa Temple across the street. South Wing  ④ Hall E  Hall E is a 1,620m² multipurpose space that divides into 6 sections. The modern, carpeted hall can host exhibitions, conferences, or banquets.  ⑤ Conference Room South  This two-story conference complex holds 31 diverse rooms in total, with capacities ranging from 12 to 300. It is also the location of Coex’s second tiered auditorium, Room 401, which seats 441 guests.
  • 55. EXHIBITION HALLS  Coex’s four exhibition halls are the most popular venues for trade shows in Korea. Each hall connects directly to spacious loading docks, and is equipped with expansive utility trenches. Halls A and B on the first floor connect via swing space, as do halls C and D on the third floor.  ① Hall A  Hall A is a 10,368m² space. Its size and location next to the Coex Mall entrance makes it the center’s most popular exhibition facility.  ② Hall B  This 8,010 m² hall near the North Wing can be divided into two spaces. Its white LED lighting renovation makes it ideal for art exhibitions.  ③ Hall C  Hall C is a 10,348m² space with a large pillar-free middle section. The hall can hold 520 booths or up to 10,000 guests for concerts.  ④ Hall D  Hall D is a completely pillar-free 7,281m² plenary hall that can hold 6,500 guests. Its honey- colored wooden interior makes it excellent for both convention sessions or exhibitions.

Green Facilities  RAINWATER RE-USE AND GRAY WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM  Waste water with low levels of toxicity, are recycled through COEX’s gray water treatment facilities  The recycled water is used in toilets and urinals in the convention center complex.  The output of the grey water treatment system is 500 cubic meters per day and 142000 cubic meters per year, which reduces yearly carbon emissions by 83 tonnes
  • 57. URBAN GREEN SPACES  Three “Green spaces” have been created so far around the COEX premises: the ASEM garden(2050 m2), Piano fountain park(4510 m2), and Exhibition Hall Roof Garden(988m2).
