1. Dear 2nd graders and families,
Hi! My name is Kim Shamet and I am a senior in the elementary education program at
the University of Illinois. I will be working in Mrs. Edwards’ class until Christmas break. I will
be there every Tuesday and Wednesday for the entire day. I will be gradually working up to
teaching a full day by the end of the semester in preparation for my student teaching in the
spring.
Since I will be working with all of you for a couple months I will share a little bit about
myself. I am from the suburbs of Chicago. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family
and friends, shopping, and reading. I worked at my local park district’s camp this summer so I
am very excited to get to work with children in a different setting.
I cannot wait to work with your students. I know that I am going to learn so much from
them! Everything they teach me this semester will be invaluable when I start my student
teaching, as well as throughout my future teaching career. If you have any questions or need to
contact me you can call Fisher Elementary School at 217-897-1133 between 7:45-3:30. I’m glad
that I got to meet most of you at open house and hopefully I can meet everyone else in the
upcoming months!
Thank you so much in advance!
Sincerely,
Kim Shamet
