through the Fallopian
Tube to the uterus

disintegrates and is
flushed away with
menstruation

ī° If it is fertilized in the Fallopian Tube by a
spermâConception occurs
ī° This Union is what
we call a zygote!
5. The ZygoteâMonth 1
ī° Fertilized egg reaches the uterus and
attaches itself to the uterus.
ī° Cell multiplication begins
ī° Internal organs and circulatory system
begins to form.
ī° Cell Division takes place and at the end of
two weeks the zygote is the size of a pin-
head
ī° Heart begins to beat
ī° Small bumps show the beginnings of arms
and legs
8. The EmbryoâMonth 2
ī° At 5 weeks the embryo is Âŧ inch long
ī° All major organ systems develop
ī° The placenta and Umbilical Cord develop
īŽ Placenta- The tissue that connects the sac
around the unborn baby to the motherâs
uterus
īŽ Umbilical Cord- Tube that connects the baby
to the placenta
ī° Brings the baby nourishment and oxygen from the
motherâs blood
ī° Takes away waster products
ī° Amniotic Fluid surrounds the baby
ī° Face, and limbs take shape
12. The FetusâMonth 3
ī° The fetus is about 1 inch long
ī° Nostrils, mouth, lips, teeth buds, and eyelids
form
ī° Fingers and toes are almost complete
ī° Eyelids are fused shut
ī° Arms, legs, fingers, and toes have developed
ī° All internal organs are presentâbut arenât
ready to function
ī° The genital organs can be recognized as male
or female
15. The FetusâMonth 4
ī° Fetus is 3 inches long and weights 5 oz.
ī° Your baby is covered with a layer of thick,
downy hair called lanugo.
ī° His heartbeat can be heard clearly.
ī° This may be when you feel your baby's first
kick.
ī° The baby can such thumb, swallow and hiccup.
18. The FetusâMonth 5
ī° The Fetus is about 6 inches long and
weighs 4-5 oz.
ī° A protective coating called vernix begins
to form on baby's skin.
ī° Hair eyelashes and eyebrows appear
ī° Organs keep maturing
ī° Fetus is very active
ī° The eyes can open and blink

inches. That's just longer than the length

fluid, and he has started breathing

ī° Fetus is 10-12 inches long and weighs
about 1-2 pounds.

in the pelvis
