Question 4 Presentation for A2 Media

1. How did you use media technologies in
the construction and research, planning
and evaluation stages?

2. The Research
Media technologies were used in all elements of the coursework in order to get
the best out of my research, planning and construction. Beginning with the
research, in order to broaden my research and get the most information possible,
I used different social media platforms, such as youtube for example. Youtube
was used for searching relevant videos to contribute to my coursework, with the
use of youtube I managed to find more than 9 videos which I could then use to
pick out genre conventions and analyse in general in order to enhance my
knowledge and influence my decisions within the group's effort towards the
construction.

3. Other members of the group have also done the same thing
but used different videos, therefore we could all bring
different ideas to the table and then discuss them and in
order for the construction to be a successful group effort.
Youtube videos were not only used for music video research
but also the creation of a youtube video to put what I
gathered myself from theorists, another presentation platform
was slide share, used for the same purpose; to present some
of my research on the theorist Deborah Holdstein.

4. Using different media technologies
for my research meant that I could
put my ideas down diversely and
more broadly, and overall facilitated
my research. Especially with the
embedding of youtube videos onto
my blog to show the range of music
videos and research based upon
them.

5. The Planning
The use of media technologies was also used in the planning stages, for
example for the initial stages of the planning in which the use of the platform
youtube was continued in analysis of other similar and contrasting videos in
order to help us plan for ideas and more conventions. Slideshare was also
used in order to make a presentation of gathered information over our genre's
target audience, facilitating a way of putting information in a easy and
readable format. In order to get hold of actors and their correspondence for
featuring in the video, I used different commucational platforms such as
whatsapp, or imessage or even a phonecall and facebook as well. For
audience research I reached out to people using media technologies such as
chatrooms, and twitter in order to get instant and real replies which would then
contribute to my groups overall music video.

6. All these different social networks made it quick and easy for
me to contact these people and also made the process of
further communication with music video purposes a lot
easier. These different platforms of communication were also
used for target audience research, in order to get as many
opinions and the best idea possible for what was expected in
a Hip-Hop music video.

7. Technology used in
construction (Digi-Pak & Music
Video)
Technology used for the digi-pak was very similar to the
same used for the music video, a canon EOS 100D which
provided HD quality footage and pictures which was then
used for the construction stages of the digi-pak and music
video. A tripod stabilized these shots, serving more useful for
the music video as video footage needed to be stable for
many shots. With the digi-pak, the shots were then put onto
photoshop in order to be edited into a digi-pak. Wix.com was
a creative software used to create the artists website which
was very flexible.
