The Early Stages Of Grieving
During the grief process, a person may encounter a number of different stages of grief at the same time, which involves acceptance, depression, anger,
bargaining and denial. These stages are not in any type of sequential order or based on a progression that's predictable. They're a collation of the 5
common experiences for the grieving that may occur in any particular order, if at all. During these times, a person needs to be honest with themselves.
Often times, the behavior continues even in the early stages of recovery causing a person to fall to their knees in deep depression when mirroring
themselves feeling powerless during the substance separation. To encounter fear of purpose and the unknown, this is common, and understanding brings

Counseling Grieving Children
Abstract Children who are grieving often struggle with life because they have lost a loved one. The loss may have been expected or unexpected,
but the pain is still great. However, the way the person was lost and other factors surrounding the death, as well as the age of the child, can all affect
how a counselor handles the child and his or her grief. Children can also grieve something other than a death, so there are many situations in which a
child might need to see a grief counselor. Additionally, children who have been part of traumatic events where someone else has died may need more
than just grief counseling because they will have survivor guilt and others issues which they will also have to face and work through. Empirical studies
show that there are many different ways to provide a child with grief counseling, and that children can react very differently based on many
characteristics. Counseling that is tailored to the child is the most significant way to help that child – and that is still not enough to convince every
scholar that grief counseling actually has any benefit at all. Counseling Grieving Children Introduction When a loved one dies, children handle their
grief differently than adults, but they still often grieve very deeply in their own way. Much of the grief children experience comes from the fact that
children often lose friends to a sudden death such as a traffic accident. The loss of older loved ones may be more anticipated, such as

The question is how do people reconcile while they are still grieving? My answer is that you can try but you can never fully reconcile while you
are still in the stages of grieving. Grieving comes in many ways and it is a roller coaster of emotions and feelings. We all know the saying 'time
heals all wounds' and I believe that comes into play when grieving. You need to take things little by little in order to fully recover. So the first few
weeks, people may be sad and disorganised after losing such a big part of their life. Soon enough, that sadness turns into guilt. All those 'what if'
questions fill their heads and they started to take responsibility of what has happened and punish themselves for it. Everyone is different and takes their

Grieving Is Not Just About Death
Grieving Is Not Just About Death
When we think about grief we automatically think about death. Yes death might be number one in our minds. However, I believe grief is not just
about losing a loved one or a friend. I strongly believe about the any big challenges that we face in life can make us grieve. For example, a woman who
cannot have babies can grieve all her life. Not having a baby can make a person devastated for her entire life. When parents have a drug addict or
alcoholic child is always worrying if he is going to make it in life. There are big and small situations that can make a person to grieve.
I do believe that grief is a powerful emotion to endure. Especially when we experience an unexpected death of a loved one or a friend it is very hard
to take. The death of someone is the most painful and tragic emotion a person can feel. This pain feels like a knife is introduced into your chest. Your
heart is broken into pieces and your body feels like had been struck by electricity. The world keeps turning, but you want it to stop. You wish to go
back, but it is impossible. There is no meaning for your life to continue.
The pain is unbearable. Each of us grieves the death of our family or friends differently. This is something we all have to deal with at some point in
our lives. This type a grieving is the hardest to take. However some people only grieve for short period of time compering to others that grieve for long
time or forever. On the following paragraph I am

Why Grieving Is Important
The loss of a loved one will leave you feeling empty inside – as if the world will never be the same again and nothing will ever be able to heal your
pain. Bereavement is something that we all experience at some stage of our lives, but not often, therefore we do not get much opportunity to learn
how to deal with it. Everybody reacts differently to the loss of someone close. Grieving is a natural process which ever way it is manifested. The time
that immediately follows the death can be filled with a stunned belief even if the death was not totally unexpected. The truth is that time heals all
wounds and the world keeps on going as if nothing happened.

Many people think after you put you're loved one to rest that your grieving period is over. People think you're suppose to just overcome this
terrible lost of your loved one within a blink of a eye. What people don't realize is loss changes our lives dramatically. Whether its denied, ignored
or resisted, it doesn't go away. Living Through Personal Crisis, gave me comfort for myself for when I experience a significant lost or crisis. It also
gave me a better understanding on how to be supportive of someone who is grieving. I learned that you have to let go of time expectations, recognize
that grief comes in many different stages, and to rests on telling them how strong they are and just to be that friend with patience to just stand along
side them.
As been noted, grief does not just go away and not everyone will understand what you're going through. The thing about grief is that you can't
control it. The best you can do is try to let yourself feel it when it comes and let it go when you can. The worst part is when you think it passes, it
comes right back without even asking. It isn't just grief we have to deal with; it's life, it's loss, it's change. The way you deal with it is up to you and
will shape the person you turn out to

Loved One Grieving
The Loss of a Loved One
The grieving after a loved one has committed suicide is unbearable to most, but it is occurring more and more each day. Every year in the United
States 33,000, people commit suicide lives, because of something that has happened to him or her, or something they are going though. When doing
this they are leaving six or more loved ones behind, to suffer the loss of their mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, or cousin ("Left Behind After
Suicide" 4). Each person grieves in different ways, but there are six main feelings a person may feel while going through a grieving period. These
could be shock, a feeling of being detached or dazed from the other parts of the world. Denial, to refuse to accept the fact that something this bad
would happen, even when people keep telling them over and over again. Guilt, thinking what happened was all their fault. Next is sadness or
depression, this is the feeling of not wanting to do anything, and always thinking about what could have done to save their life. ... Show more content on

As some say when losing a loved one is like a rollercoaster. It having the good days then the next could be the worst day of their life. They have
days where they could wake up as happy as could be, then in an instant their mood could change, to being very unhappy or down on themselves as
well as others. As anyone can see now is that the effect of losing a loved one to suicide is long term. It is something a person just cannot go on with
their life like nothing has happened; it stays with people forever and affects them each day of their lives. Losing loved ones is hard enough the way it
is, but losing one to suicide is ten times worse. Knowing someone could have helped them and maybe they would still be here today, but sometimes
things just go though people's minds that make them want to hurt themselves or others, these thoughts we cannot

Teens & Grief.
Eventually every person, no matter what age they are, will have to deal with grief in one form or another. Below are some important things to
remember when it comes to grieving, and how it can affect a teen.
1. It's important to allow your teen to grieve in their own way. Allow emotions to happen naturally, but manage and monitor them in order to not only
show support, but also be there in case emotions get out of hand, or become too much for your teen to handle on their own.
2. Each teen's grieving experience is unique. Not all teens cry right away, or sometimes at all. A lot of times humor and jokes allow your teen to mask
anger and depression, while still allowing an emotional outlet for what they are experiencing internally. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no "right" and "wrong" way to grieve. Be careful to stay away from phrases like "right" and "wrong" because what you don't want to do is
make your teen feel like their emotions are abnormal or inappropriate. Instead, communicate your own feelings with your teen, and reassure them that
what they are feeling is natural.
4. Dealing with grief is about choices, good and bad. Just like adults, some teens will turn to mood/mind altering substances and destructive behavior
in order to express the rage/anger/sadness they are going through. My suggestion is that instead of giving your grieving teen time to explore these
paths you provide them with alternatives, such as music or writing in a journal, as well as art and even simple things like going through pictures and
photos of the recently deceased, sharing memories and stories with your grieving teen.
5. In my experience, it is important that your teen have an outside support system. Friends, relatives, counselors, and other outside influences are
important when it comes to support and growth. Allowing your teen the freedom to express themselves, and to others they feel close enough to share
their experience with, should not be considered a slight on the parents, but rather a relief to the parents that their teen is talking to anyone, and showing
that they are still trying to process what has

Adolescents grieving is similar to a child than an adult. Adolescents range from the ages of ten to twenty–two years old. Throughout their grieving
process adolescent have a range of many emotions and inner conflicts which are greatly influenced by their biologically changes in their bodies. During
times of grief, adolescents also face inner conflicts of life, death, loneliness, frustration, depression and so forth. These questions of life and death gives
opportunities to many adolescents to explore their spirituality or religion. Adolescents also have an egocentric altitude, which makes them believe that
their situation is different then everyone else's. Even though the youth can be dealing with inner conflicts, many youth would not express their
emotions with others. Even though adolescents may not express their feeling their actions, low grades, violence, sexual behavior is an alert sign to
parents that there something wrong. Teenagers would also think that their "immoral" and would do risky activities just to test their lives. After reading
the assign reading, what stood out the most was knowing that adolescents would do risky activities in order to test their morality. I thought that

Sometimes death can become a part of your life so suddenly, it can be difficult to deal with the reality of it, or even be sure of what your next
course of action should be. Fortunately, both of my parents are alive and well and yet, for the purposes of this document, I will be looking at the
proper steps one should expect to take when met with the terrible circumstance of both parental figures passing away, and, moreover, leaving the
responsibility of the resulting affairs to oneself. Fortunately for our local area, there are support groups available to help with the grieving process, but
one should be prepared to deal with the paperwork, as well.
The death of a parent can often leave one feeling extremely off, isolated and alone. It may shatter and crumble a sense of security and stability that
has been in place for most likely all of one's life. There may be surfacing of concerns for those affected by the death, including siblings and
grandparents, or even our parents' grandchildren. Expanding on a presentation done by Miller (2010), rites of passage may trigger strong and deeply
felt reactions and inner movements, as well as special occasions, activities or locations. If in the case the relationship was unhealthy, broken, or
abusive, the grieving process can become even more complicated than it already is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Preservation Of Memories And Grieving Process
In Anne Carson's Nox, the preservation of memories and grieving process are shown by formatting and themes of imagery, encapsulation, isolation, and
completion. Upon first impression, Nox's pages look photocopied, but real enough that the pages feel three–dimensional, as though there's a residue
from the author lingering on the pages. Her brother's death prompts Carson to act as his historian and detail his life through different media. Carson
compiles images from different sources, including herself, and then brings them together to form an epitaph in the form of a collage. Collaging becomes
a collection of preserved emotions from the author. Collaging helps express emotions of the self that simple words cannot express. Nox's format being
a collage pulls the audience into memories of childhood. Young children making collages in art class and excitedly running home to show their
families. Except, Carson cannot show her brother or mother the collage. Reading Nox feels very voyeuristic as a result. The audience watches
Carson's grieving process literally unfold. Carson becomes her brother's historian, collaging his life whether positive or negative. Carson and her
brother were closer as children but not at all as adults, and many photos focus on their childhood. The photos are interspersed after definitions (Carson
5.4). Nox becomes a vessel for the preservation of Carson's memories of her brother, whether they be positive or negative. Light imagery, in contrast to

Grieving In Old Yeller
The basic argument of Old Yeller is that death is something that is necessary and merciful. This movie also focuses on ways to cope with the death.
There is an emphasis on focusing on the positive things in live to help cope with death. (Anderson & Stevenson, 1957.)
One of my favorite parts of this film was when the father was comforting the son over the loss of Old Yeller. While providing words of wisdom, the
father emphasizes that this is something that the son must come to terms with and acknowledges that it will be a difficult process. Also, the dad
struggles to find an appropriate way to explain how to move on. This provides a genuine example of how grieving occurs that is not always present in
cinema.
Old Yeller can be compared to The

The Grieving Process
Grief is a sense of loss which is a natural emotion. If one does, not grieve properly it can lead to emotional and physical problems. To avoid this from
happening allow time to grieve, feel the pain and sorrow and let it out. This is natural, this is also healthy. There are five steps of the grieving process:
anger, bargaining, depression, and resolution (Manning, Curtis, McMillin, & Attenweiler, 2011). Denial is being in disbelief that loss has actually
happen (Manning, et al, 2011). This is a feeling at some point in someone's lives that we can relate to this grieving process. Someone we know has
died all of sudden and that person could have been in good health, but died suddenly and the denial of disbelief has hit. Anger the feeling

Essay Of Grieving
Greetings to all, Artistic Director of Artslink Queensland and significant others. Thank you for taking time and giving me the opportunity to let me
present to you my dramatic treatment to the 7 Stages of Grieving. This presentation will display my chosen scene and other significant ideas to this
opportunity and I will present this with the justification of my dramatic decisions.
Throughout my production I aim to produce an empowering dramatic feeling for the audience. It is to foreshadow the feeling that throughout my scene
Aboriginals are moralised and seen as inhumane and always fighting, this purpose and context helps my audience and actors feel as they are begging
just to be treated as humans with emotions and feelings.

In this section I have chosen and is present on the screen, evidently it talks about a crowd of people; representing the Indigenous community, then
talking about family which is one of my chosen themes and then talks about the grief and details how they are not fighting and they do not wish to fight
which emphasises my empowering dramatic purpose and context. I have chosen to manipulate physical theatre and employ the use of shakuhachi,
butoh expressive of grief, slowly of speech and pauses and/or freezes, which successfully communicates an empowering dramatic effect and plays on
the audiences of emotion with grief and their family. My actions chosen in scene help represent my work as a poetic, dramatic, grotesque piece of art.
The sole justification for my dramatic choices of such given in this scene was to communicate a solid connection through my actors to my script to my
actions and then to my audience which is my main objective through the play so they can identify my dramatic meaning of society always undermining
the Indigenous community as they have been stereotyped to be seen as drunkards and abusive people within our society of racism, inequality and

Response To Grieving
Men in out society are referred to as tough, emotionless, strong and dependable. Often a man that cries is perceived as soft and weak; therefore we
may be led to believe that men do not have a problem. However, this statement is incorrect. Men who are "tough" and do not cry as a response to
grief are actually the men we should be most worried about because they tend to bottle up their emotions. Masculine patterns of coping with grief are
different but not less effective than the more conventional or feminine ways of dealing with a loss (Doka, K. J., & Martin, T. L., 2010). The use of
the word masculine response to grief is not always the most proper term. Some women respond in the same way as men when responding to grief and

harmful but, they both require a different type of support. Men who internalize their feeling and try and stay tough need support through someone
being with them and having a presence in their life. They do not want to talk and communicate as much because this makes them feel uncomfortable
and soft. They prefer that the person with them talk and that they can just listen. Sometimes the men who internalize their feelings do not even need
the person with them to talk they just need the presence and company of someone being with them. These individuals also tend to be more spiritual
but they do this alone. Although these individuals like someone to be present they also like to be left alone, asking too many questions will make this

Working in the nursing field presents itself a likely opportunity that you will have patients that die due to their sickness and can no longer go on.
It's something you can't really prepare for unless it happens to you. As the odds are likely that a nurse will experience this event, taking time after
one of your patients have died is essential for your mental health as this event is very stressful and sad. When one takes this time off to grieve the
ultimate goal is to be able to be mentally strong walking back onto your floor. The authors in our text book talk about five themes that have to deal

The Grieving Process
In todays ever–changing society, many schools and students have been forced to face a variety of stressors. Specifically, adolescents face some of
the greatest challenges related to academic, social and personal aspects of their lives while also at a very vulnerable and fragile stage of
development. Unfortunately, one of the most severe challenges adolescents may face is the death of a loved one; this may include parents, siblings,
relatives, peers, pets or anyone who has influenced the adolescent's life in some way. According to Minino & Smith (2001), "The top three leading
causes of death for adolescents are accidents, suicides, and homicides" (p. 386). It is important to address these areas of loss in an adolescent's life

School counselors are often at the front lines of crisis and trauma prevention and intervention implementation. While it may be helpful to make all
school personnel aware of the grieving process and adolescent development it is exclusively important for the school counselor in the school
community to become aware of the students within the school, experiences students may be facing and ultimately organize and implement a
comprehensive school counseling program that provides the necessary services that best accommodate students. Although much of the research has
addressed bereavement in adulthood, we know that it is not to be expected that adolescents grieve the same as adults and often face a variety of
other challenges related to developmental influences. When reaching out to students and adolescents who have experienced a loss, it is important to
consider the type of loss, the timing of the loss and to appreciate and recognize that each individual's grieving process is very different. Grief can be
and is often seen as a complicated concept but it is an area that should be explored in order to ensure healthy development and well–being (Slyter,

Grieving as manifested in children
A Short Course for RNs by James Potter
Goals of this course
To understand that grieving is a complex phenomenon
To understand how different age groups of children deal with loss
To take what we learn here into practice to better support our youngest and most vulnerable populations
Quick facts
You may be asking yourself how often will we seegrief of a loved ones as we work in the hospital? Keep these facts in mind
One in twenty children will have a parent pass away before he or she graduates from high school
By age ten, one in seven children have had an immediate family member pass away.
Roughly 73,000 children die each year in the USA. 83% of those are survived by a sibling.

This age group is developing self–identity and self–esteem. Deaths can be devastating for this.
As RNs we can work to facilitate normal socialization time with friends and be there to listen. It's important to assess the psychosocial changes that can
happen from lost self–identity or self–esteem and work towards repairing it.
Teenagers
Like age 9 to 12, this group is very rooted in peer relationships
They are attempting to find balance between independence and dependence of caregivers
Very likely to either try to hide feelings of grief completely, or to lash out in anger.
Some can react with increased risky behavior believing death will not happen to them, while others may show emotional maturing given new priorities
May feel anxiety or guilt about leaving remaining family members for college at the end of high school
As RNs we can give them time to grieve without having to use energy to hide it. Most prefer to grieve privately, but still offer to be there if needed
Summary
Grieving is a complicated process that changes with age, but is present in all ages of children in some form

Examples And Disadvantages Of Grieving
Grief stages Before grieving happens, the life of people is functioning normally to carry out their daily routine. But when something unfortunate happen
to them, grieving takes place. Grief or grieving is a condition that occurs in response to an individual's loss of a close relationship, own terminal illness
or to the death of a someone who is important or pet (PsychCentral.com, 2006 ). Schultz and Videbeck (2002) suggested that people should be
necessary to walk through the stages, evincing and accepting the emotions involved in the situation. Otherwise, dysfunctional grieving takes place.
Schultz and Videbeck defined dysfunctional grieving as the delayed or absent of the conscious grieving. In dysfunctional grieving, people may face

It is usually characterised by sayings "It is going to be okay", "I can't avoid it, but I must do something for it" or even "Nothing is impossible". As
compared to the previous stage, one is able to look at the bright side of the future and the otherwise in an optimistic way (Howarth, 2011). For
example, after the break–up of a long–term relationship, one may start to accept the truth that both may not be on terms again in the future. One may
perceive that the partner is not the right one and consequently the break–up. However, it is distinguishable from getting over it. In layman terms, it is
one way ahead of "getting–over–it" (Howarth, 2011). In the aforementioned case, one may look at future with anticipation that they may get back on
the right track again in the future (Hogan & Wright, 2008). To elaborate, after trying out at the previous stage, one usually takes shelter that one has
put the greatest effort on it, it is good if workable, however, the otherwise can be accepted without much sense of loss. Hence in this stage, one does
not expect the outcome to be as one's will anymore. (Howarth, 2011). As compared to the previous stage, one anticipates things to turn out well, if
not better. Thus, it would end up a disaster again if the expectation is not realised (Hogan & Wright, 2008). However, acceptance is rather a positive
stage, where one has sailed through from having any expectations. Be it a good one, or the otherwise, one will be contented that it is going to an end

INTRO: " Grief is NOT a disorder, a disease or sign of weakness. It is an emotional, physical and spiritual necessity, the price you pay for love. The
only cure for grief is to grieve" (Earl Grollman) The first step of the grieving process is denial. Denial is the unwillingness or inability to accept that
a loss has occurred. During this stage, the person may not talk to you or she my act as the deceased person is still there. When in denial the person
that is grieving normally acts like everything is fine and nothing has happened. The first stage is the brains defense mechanism; it allows the death to

The ability to express thoughts and emotions is a unique characteristic that allows individuals to define themselves. Social media platforms provide the
perfect opportunity for millennials to create their own identities and connect with one another. In this way, these platforms serve as a melting pot of
ideas that fosters a diverse community of individual experiences. Social media is beneficial to the well–being of many young adults because it allows
them to freely express their emotions and to reach out to the digital community whenever they encounter hardships. This is especially important during

One specific hardship that many individuals may face during young adulthood is the death of a close friend or loved one. Michelle Palmer, author
of the article "Understanding and Supporting Grieving Adolescents and Young Adults" states, "Online sources suggest that one in 10 adolescents
aged 10 to 18 years are grieving the death of a close loved one, and roughly 22% to 30% of college undergraduates are in their first 12 months of
grieving for a parent, grandparent, sibling, or close friend" (Palmer). These statistics demonstrate that there is a copious quantity of grieving
young adults who are in need of a listening ear. The grieving process associated with the loss of a loved one can take a toll on the mental health of
an individual; however, social media platforms provide grieving teens with a support system and a creative outlet to express their emotions. Palmer
claims that "the most positive aspect of social media as a source of grief support is a shared location for young people to express support and
condolences" (Palmer). While grieving, it is not uncommon for a teenager to feel as though he or she is alone. Social media can help alleviate these
feelings of solitude by providing mourning adolescents with a grief circle in which they can connect with others who are going through the same
experience. One of the many benefits of using social media as a source of grief support is that it allows individuals to sort out their thoughts and

In Home Supportive Services and Losing a Significant Other
The loss of a significant other is one of the most dramatic events a person can experience in this life. Even so, the passing of loved ones is a natural
part of the life process. Despite our understanding of this reality, when a part of our life is lost, it may be difficult to move on.
Most cultures and religions have rituals and processes designed to help with the mourning and grieving process. During mourning, an individual may
not be able to look forward as they cling to the past and what was. Working through the reality of the loss through mourning is healthy and therapeutic.

Grieving refers to how we "experience" the loss of a loved one. Per Psychology Today, "The 'living' grieve for the dead, but more, they grieve for that
part of them selves that "dies" along with the loved one." You might say that mourning involves the emotional response todeath and grieving the way
we live it out.
Both mourning and grieving the loss of a loved one impacts the decisions we make in our daily lives. After losing a significant other, many seniors do
not know if they can go on, or what they can or should do with the rest of their lives. One of the things that can help is the support of in home

Consider these suggestions when dealing with the loss of a significant other:
1. Take time for yourself. Many people let themselves go during the grieving process. They do not see what the purpose is of going on. It is
important to reevaluate how life is going to be without a loved one by their side. For some, it means learning to love themselves, for others it means
re–focusing their energy. Regardless of the purpose, time is an important component that cannot be taken out of the process. For some, this time needs

Grieving Windows Essay
Ted: Let's talk about grieving windows, something that we can all relate to. The subject matter is oddly specific. Why don't we start off with The
Coast of Wales, since to me it is the most optimistic story we've read in this class. To me it feels like the sad parts are still talked about in a
positive way because the way that the story puts it makes it feel like the depression that people face after the death of a love a loved one is feels
like less of a problem to overcome and more of a part of the cycle that lead to happiness. Liam: I feel as if the author has a very skewed
understanding of happenings, I mean a skewed perception of happiness. I also feel less that she is happy and that she is more resigned to sadness.
Ted: Even in the end, because she seems to grow a little bit. Seeing through the eyes of someone with multiple years of therapy under their belt. I
feel as if she is coping not at all healthily. She seems to be isolating, though me saying this is a bit hypocritical, isolation is not great in large doses. In
small doses it can be helpful to distance yourself from the situation to assess it, but you have to go back to the situation eventually, you have to deal...

This story is different, since it deals with a larger scope in terms of loss and moving on. Even if the protagonist of The Coast of Wales had lost her
husband a longer time before Vera did in In the Middle of the Fields, the writing style of the latter produces a feeling that a longer time has past. To
me, Vera feels like she has had more time to think about her life without her husband and how she will continue to carry on and function without him.
She has become the sole supplier for her family and takes up the role of both matriarch and patriarch for her children. She also tries to protect her land

Buddhism: The Role Of Grieving In Buddhism
When it comes to grieving, it is very typical to for Buddhist to go through such times. Like mentioned earlier, grieving in the Buddhist religion is
known to be a natural part of life, just like is known to be a natural time to come for everyone. It is said to be an "universal emotion," so literally
everyone at one or multiple points of their lives, will have to endure it. They all go by this one story in which a woman who lost her child and asked the
Buddha to bring him back to life. To fulfill her wishes she was asked by the Buddha to search for a mustard seed from a household where no one has
died. However, on her journey to find this seed, she had to come to the harsh conclusion that she couldn't find the seed, and because of this, she

Grieving Process Of Grief
If I were diagnosed with AIDS, I would respond in confusion, and I would probably be asking God, "Why me!" In Lecture 5 it talks about grief
being a process that consists of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Everyone experiences the grief process differently ("Lecture 5,"
2018). I can see me going through this grieving process, but I know there is hope, and God would not let me go through anything I could not handle.
Because of the break in Shalom, there is disease death and suffering ("Lecture 4," 2018). Suffering is a part of life in a fallen world. Some problems are
the direct result of a person's sin or the result of evil in this world or something that we have no control over (Shelly & Miller, 2006). Therefore,

Examines the grieving process and experience of unemployed people, and suggests a solution to benefit the organization and displaced employee.
Procedure(s): N/A. This is not a research paper based on a study or experiment; rather it analyzes previous works to arrive at a final conclusion.
Summary of work: This paper sought to examine the effects of job loss on workers (who are considered unemployed), making recommendations for
solutions using information from personal experience and previous researchers' work. The author used his job loss experience as a reference, detailing
how he felt when his company told the employees that they would be closing in two years. He also discussed the psychology of job loss, hitting on
financial stressors, loss of self–identity and self–esteem, grief, distress over unemployment, and anger. He went on to suggest how organizations
/companies should act in a socially responsible manner, supporting employees through this transition to decrease the likelihood of the aforementioned
feelings associated with job displacement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Process Of Grieving
Process of Grieving Everyone experiences a very strong and sometimes overwhelming emotion, known as grief. As overwhelming as this emotion can
be, it is a natural response for most human beings. Grief is known differently among individuals; some know it as "the mourning process" and others
know it as a cultural expectation. This period of grief can also be known as bereavement which means experiencing loss, but only for a period, not
forever. Besides how it is known, it is most commonly experienced after the loss of a loved one, or after receiving life threatening news. It is very
important to know about grief and the stages it includes along with the peripheral issues associated with the grieving process. The stages of grief
include loss, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One would be that people grieve in unique ways. Examples of how people "grieve in unique ways" could be simply be what they do with the ashes
or getting a tattoo. Some people like to wear the ashes in a piece of jewelry and others like to dump the ashes in a meaningful place to them or to
the person. There is no right or wrong way to how you grieve and people do not have to do it in specific ways, that is what makes it so unique.
Another peripheral issue to understand is that people will experience new emotions and that leads to a clashing of emotions. An example of clashing
emotions could be when someone passes away but during the same time something good happens. The mixture of extreme happiness and sadness can
cause a person to feel a way they have never felt before and it is important to understand that it is completely normal, but talking to someone about it
can help. More peripheral issue to talk about is how people need a starting point for the grieving process. For example, having a funeral because it is
hard to start the process without a starting point. Another issue could be not having a self–identity; it is easier to grieve when people have their own
title and not one that was shared between them and the passed loved one. Last, the things called "unspoken losses." This is seen after someone passes
away and others cannot mention the loss to them or even bring it up around the time of the death. As uncomfortable as it may be, it is very important
to bring it up because having the person talk about it is a healthy thing to do. It also makes that person feel like others truly

Nurses And Grieving : A Time For Change
Nurses and Grieving: A Time for Change
Elli Hunt
Denver School of Nursing Abstract
Individuals enter nursing with a wide array of experiences in how they grieve the loss of someone or something. These experiences follow them into
their career and express themselves in the way they grieve for the loss of a patient. Evidence shows that this has historically been inadequate and
unhealthy. To prevent the negative impact that ineffective grieving has upon the individual the approach to the grieving process must change. In doing
so nurses will become more emotionally and physically stable while going through these difficult times, ultimately helping the healthcare institution to
thrive.
CASE STUDY
My husband, Bob, a veteran nurse for 30 years stares into the distance with a seemingly emotional detachment as he recollects the horrifying events
of that day. As a new nurse working in a small rural hospital he was wrapping up his typical day finalizing charts and making sure his 32 patients
were doing well when he received the call from an Emergency Room (ER) technician. A father had frantically called the ER stating he was bringing
his 18–month old boy in who he had accidently run over with his riding lawn mower. Bob responded immediately and within minutes saw a man
running toward the door holding a small lifeless figure wrapped in a blood soaked towel. Bob took the child from the father and ran into the trauma
room where he unwrapped the towel from the child. The

Death In Ophelia's 'Grieving Laertes'
The first event, in which Ophelia's "death" adds to the plight of the already grieving Laertes may influence the reader/audience to feel sympathetic
towards him. Shakespeare could have used a random messenger to deliver the news of Ophelia's death but the use of Gertrude in this scene makes this
news more heartbreaking for Laertes. In the speech spoken to Laertes by Gertrude, it is somewhat implied that Ophelia knowingly committed suicide.
Ophelia's mental state in the scene's before the drowning definitely did foreshadow her downfall. The neglect she received from Hamlet and the death
of her father was too much for her to handle. In the case of Ophelia, her relationship with Hamlet was the direct cause of her demise. Similarly, this
also applies

Anger Grieving Process
Anger is a common, normal response to bereavement. We get angry when we cannot control what is happening to us. It can be one of the most
confusing feelings during bereavement, and is at the root of many problems in the grieving process.
If anger is not expressed in a safe way it can be a very damaging emotion, eating away at the bereaved person and destroying relationships vital for
overcoming loss. Quarrels commonly resulting from ill–directed expression of anger during the acute stage of grief, may lead to social isolation /loss
of support from friends and relatives at a time when it is most needed. Anger can create a vicious circle whereby friends and relatives tend to back
away when the bereaved are hostile and angry which in turn leads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They may take out their frustration, hostility and irritability on family and friends or be overcome with a deep sense of resentment. Anger may be
directed at the dead person, at other people such as friends, family, medical people, or at oneself or even to God.
Anger can be experienced in many ways within the grieving process. Some clients can talk easily about their feelings of anger; many others initially
express it as envy, resentment, injustice, hatred, or blame. For example, blaming oneself for not noticing that the person was unwell or blaming the
deceased for dying. Blaming can cause guilt and further anxiety and become a vicious circle. Sometimes people get survivor guilt or may feel it is
safer to be guilty than angry.
As I said earlier anger is a natural reaction to grief and loss; getting mad occasionally is normal. But if anger stays too long, it can develop into a
stronger emotion called rage, and that can turn out of control. Anger that is unresolved can create bitterness. If it is left to fester too long, anger can
also turn into fury and vengeance. These are all dangerous and destructive by–products of a normal emotion that you do not want to

The Pros And Cons Of Firefighter Grieving
"On average there are there are 70 on duty firefighter fatalities in the United States every year." ("Firefighter Fatalities in the United States"). This
means that an on duty firefighter dies about every 5 days. Firefighters have enough stress with their everyday job, then you add losing a fellow
member it puts another level to that stress. Imagine two siblings go out to play basketball like they do multiple times everyday and one of them
end up dying in a freak accident. Horrible right? It is the same thing with firefighters. They go out on a call. There is a freak accident and there is not
a great outcome. "The death of a fellow firefighter is like losing a brother or sister because you are living with them for almost one–third of your life."
(Johnson). Firefighters are one big family. There has always been firefighter fatalities. The questions has always been: How to deal with one when it
happens. What is the right amount of time off for grieving? Should there be mandatory counseling? Who do we bring in to support the firefighters? The
problem is that every fatal incident... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grieving is a large part of the healing process. When there is any death anyone who is close with the person grieves. The closer someone is to the
person the longer it may take for them to finish the grieving process. Giving firefighters mandatory time off for grieving is another way to deal with
firefighter fatalities. "Failure to provide emotional and psychological support may result in the resurgence of emotions during stressful situations,
which may have a detrimental impact on safe operations." (Theil, 19). Providing time for grieving is important. The problem is that the fire department
has to run and it cannot run without the firefighters. Giving mandatory grieving works in theory but in reality there would not be anyone to run the fire

Grieving : The Grieving Process
The Grieving Process
According to Thomas Attig, who made an important distinction between grief and the grieving process, the grieving process is a complex coping
process which gives and challenges and opportunities for the griever and also the choices to be made and tasks to be presented with a tremendous
amount of energy to be invested. Most people have negative thoughts about grieving process and they believe that grieving process can render the
individual passive and helpless. However, according to Attig, "It is misleading and dangerous to mistakegrief for the whole of the experience of the
bereaved. It is misleading because the experience is far more complex, entailing diverse emotional, physical, intellectual, spiritual and social ... Show

There are many similarities between the grieving process (denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance).
Shock and Denial: when someone hears the news of someone who is very close to that person is dying or expected to die, the first reaction can be
denying the process by thinking that it cannot be true. It is kind of similar to going to a "temporary safe place" from the ugly realities that one can
experience. The denial is a common experience among the newly bereaved and also serves positive functions in the process of adaptation. With time,
they tend to understand the losing process and may feel like it is impossible for one to deal with all of the social meanings of death at once. However,
denial can protect someone from hearing unbearable experiences at first.
Disorganization (confusion): Disorganization or confusion is a bereavement process in which one may feel totally out of control or out of touch with
the reality of everyday life.* They feel like life has no meaning and normal/everyday happenings nothing makes sense.*(Some of them go through this
disorganization process like 2 to 3 day time period just before the funeral as if on "automatic pilot" or "in a daze")*Disorganization and confusion are
normal responses when one's normal social life has been dramatically changed/destroyed due to some traumatic experiences.
Volatile Reactions:
When someone's going through a grieving process, they have a natural tendency to feel angry, frustrated, helpless

Grieving for Children and Adults
"Grief can't be shared. Everyone carries it alone. His own burden in his own way" (Lindbergh). Grieving the loss of a loved one can be the most
emotionally draining time of any human being's life. Not only is this a time for saying good bye to the ones we hold dear in our hearts, but it is also
a time for change, change that is not seen as pleasant or embraced. This change is continuing on in life without the ones we have lost. For the
majority, this experience is difficult but most have the support and love of family to make it through, but for others, this can be a lonesome and maybe
even an impossible task. This experience will affect a person both emotionally and physically, but it is important to learn how to cope with the pain,...

But if a child does wish to participate, it is helpful to them in getting closure. During grieving children will feel the same pain, confusion, and fear just
as any adult will. Family and those that are close to the deceased are not the only ones who feel anguish. They aid in grief counseling and handling the
departed. Funeral directors may help a family deal with a loss through grief counseling themselves or refer families to a grief therapist. Either way, a
huge part of a funeral director's job is to show compassion and empathy towards families during this difficult time. It is a fine line when dealing with
emotions while being a mortician or a funeral director. They have to show sympathy and support to the family, but they cannot let their emotions get in
the way of their work because they still have a job to do. Morticians or embalmers might not deal with loved ones of the deceased directly, but they
also are affected. Witnessing tragedy after tragedy and attending countless funerals can take a toll on any mortician's mental and emotional health. A
mortician's degree of sympathy may also vary depending on the circumstances of the death. Andrew Weeks, a director of his own funeral says ""I hate
senseless death." Old people are expected to die, children are not"" (Weeks). While death is upsetting in any situation, a mortician might feel more
saddened by the death of a younger person, such as a

Examples Of Grieving Of A Death
There are many things you can say to someone who is grieving of a death of a loved one. One example is, offer them your support by saying is
there anything I can do for you. Knowing that there is someone there for you is a great thing. Another example, is telling them it is okay to mourn
for a little. For most people losing someone they loved takes time to get over it and time to realize they are not coming back. Some people will not
get over it but will move on. A personal example for me is that I lost my dad at a young age. Even now I think about him and how things could have
been different. I know he would want me to get on with my life and still make him proud while he is watching down on me. While dealing with a death
of a loved one is very hard. There are many things that they do not want to hear. Some things that you should not do is compare their loss to yours.
Also, you should not tell them how they should feel. Telling an individual who is grieving how to feel is not helpful. It might make them feel ashamed
or wrong. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Early Stages Of Grieving

  • 1. The Early Stages Of Grieving During the grief process, a person may encounter a number of different stages of grief at the same time, which involves acceptance, depression, anger, bargaining and denial. These stages are not in any type of sequential order or based on a progression that's predictable. They're a collation of the 5 common experiences for the grieving that may occur in any particular order, if at all. During these times, a person needs to be honest with themselves. Often times, the behavior continues even in the early stages of recovery causing a person to fall to their knees in deep depression when mirroring themselves feeling powerless during the substance separation. To encounter fear of purpose and the unknown, this is common, and understanding brings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Counseling Grieving Children Abstract Children who are grieving often struggle with life because they have lost a loved one. The loss may have been expected or unexpected, but the pain is still great. However, the way the person was lost and other factors surrounding the death, as well as the age of the child, can all affect how a counselor handles the child and his or her grief. Children can also grieve something other than a death, so there are many situations in which a child might need to see a grief counselor. Additionally, children who have been part of traumatic events where someone else has died may need more than just grief counseling because they will have survivor guilt and others issues which they will also have to face and work through. Empirical studies show that there are many different ways to provide a child with grief counseling, and that children can react very differently based on many characteristics. Counseling that is tailored to the child is the most significant way to help that child – and that is still not enough to convince every scholar that grief counseling actually has any benefit at all. Counseling Grieving Children Introduction When a loved one dies, children handle their grief differently than adults, but they still often grieve very deeply in their own way. Much of the grief children experience comes from the fact that children often lose friends to a sudden death such as a traffic accident. The loss of older loved ones may be more anticipated, such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Grieving Research Paper The question is how do people reconcile while they are still grieving? My answer is that you can try but you can never fully reconcile while you are still in the stages of grieving. Grieving comes in many ways and it is a roller coaster of emotions and feelings. We all know the saying 'time heals all wounds' and I believe that comes into play when grieving. You need to take things little by little in order to fully recover. So the first few weeks, people may be sad and disorganised after losing such a big part of their life. Soon enough, that sadness turns into guilt. All those 'what if' questions fill their heads and they started to take responsibility of what has happened and punish themselves for it. Everyone is different and takes their ... • 4. Grieving Is Not Just About Death Grieving Is Not Just About Death When we think about grief we automatically think about death. Yes death might be number one in our minds. However, I believe grief is not just about losing a loved one or a friend. I strongly believe about the any big challenges that we face in life can make us grieve. For example, a woman who cannot have babies can grieve all her life. Not having a baby can make a person devastated for her entire life. When parents have a drug addict or alcoholic child is always worrying if he is going to make it in life. There are big and small situations that can make a person to grieve. I do believe that grief is a powerful emotion to endure. Especially when we experience an unexpected death of a loved one or a friend it is very hard to take. The death of someone is the most painful and tragic emotion a person can feel. This pain feels like a knife is introduced into your chest. Your heart is broken into pieces and your body feels like had been struck by electricity. The world keeps turning, but you want it to stop. You wish to go back, but it is impossible. There is no meaning for your life to continue. The pain is unbearable. Each of us grieves the death of our family or friends differently. This is something we all have to deal with at some point in our lives. This type a grieving is the hardest to take. However some people only grieve for short period of time compering to others that grieve for long time or forever. On the following paragraph I am ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Why Grieving Is Important The loss of a loved one will leave you feeling empty inside – as if the world will never be the same again and nothing will ever be able to heal your pain. Bereavement is something that we all experience at some stage of our lives, but not often, therefore we do not get much opportunity to learn how to deal with it. Everybody reacts differently to the loss of someone close. Grieving is a natural process which ever way it is manifested. The time that immediately follows the death can be filled with a stunned belief even if the death was not totally unexpected. The truth is that time heals all wounds and the world keeps on going as if nothing happened. In Dr. Ann Stearns words, "Younger people often grieve longer and harder when loosing a spouse".... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people think after you put you're loved one to rest that your grieving period is over. People think you're suppose to just overcome this terrible lost of your loved one within a blink of a eye. What people don't realize is loss changes our lives dramatically. Whether its denied, ignored or resisted, it doesn't go away. Living Through Personal Crisis, gave me comfort for myself for when I experience a significant lost or crisis. It also gave me a better understanding on how to be supportive of someone who is grieving. I learned that you have to let go of time expectations, recognize that grief comes in many different stages, and to rests on telling them how strong they are and just to be that friend with patience to just stand along side them. As been noted, grief does not just go away and not everyone will understand what you're going through. The thing about grief is that you can't control it. The best you can do is try to let yourself feel it when it comes and let it go when you can. The worst part is when you think it passes, it comes right back without even asking. It isn't just grief we have to deal with; it's life, it's loss, it's change. The way you deal with it is up to you and will shape the person you turn out to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Loved One Grieving The Loss of a Loved One The grieving after a loved one has committed suicide is unbearable to most, but it is occurring more and more each day. Every year in the United States 33,000, people commit suicide lives, because of something that has happened to him or her, or something they are going though. When doing this they are leaving six or more loved ones behind, to suffer the loss of their mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, or cousin ("Left Behind After Suicide" 4). Each person grieves in different ways, but there are six main feelings a person may feel while going through a grieving period. These could be shock, a feeling of being detached or dazed from the other parts of the world. Denial, to refuse to accept the fact that something this bad would happen, even when people keep telling them over and over again. Guilt, thinking what happened was all their fault. Next is sadness or depression, this is the feeling of not wanting to do anything, and always thinking about what could have done to save their life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As some say when losing a loved one is like a rollercoaster. It having the good days then the next could be the worst day of their life. They have days where they could wake up as happy as could be, then in an instant their mood could change, to being very unhappy or down on themselves as well as others. As anyone can see now is that the effect of losing a loved one to suicide is long term. It is something a person just cannot go on with their life like nothing has happened; it stays with people forever and affects them each day of their lives. Losing loved ones is hard enough the way it is, but losing one to suicide is ten times worse. Knowing someone could have helped them and maybe they would still be here today, but sometimes things just go though people's minds that make them want to hurt themselves or others, these thoughts we cannot ... • 7. Teen Grieving Research Paper 31 Teens & Grief. Eventually every person, no matter what age they are, will have to deal with grief in one form or another. Below are some important things to remember when it comes to grieving, and how it can affect a teen. 1. It's important to allow your teen to grieve in their own way. Allow emotions to happen naturally, but manage and monitor them in order to not only show support, but also be there in case emotions get out of hand, or become too much for your teen to handle on their own. 2. Each teen's grieving experience is unique. Not all teens cry right away, or sometimes at all. A lot of times humor and jokes allow your teen to mask anger and depression, while still allowing an emotional outlet for what they are experiencing internally. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no "right" and "wrong" way to grieve. Be careful to stay away from phrases like "right" and "wrong" because what you don't want to do is make your teen feel like their emotions are abnormal or inappropriate. Instead, communicate your own feelings with your teen, and reassure them that what they are feeling is natural. 4. Dealing with grief is about choices, good and bad. Just like adults, some teens will turn to mood/mind altering substances and destructive behavior in order to express the rage/anger/sadness they are going through. My suggestion is that instead of giving your grieving teen time to explore these paths you provide them with alternatives, such as music or writing in a journal, as well as art and even simple things like going through pictures and photos of the recently deceased, sharing memories and stories with your grieving teen. 5. In my experience, it is important that your teen have an outside support system. Friends, relatives, counselors, and other outside influences are important when it comes to support and growth. Allowing your teen the freedom to express themselves, and to others they feel close enough to share their experience with, should not be considered a slight on the parents, but rather a relief to the parents that their teen is talking to anyone, and showing that they are still trying to process what has ... • 8. Grieving Research Papers Adolescents grieving is similar to a child than an adult. Adolescents range from the ages of ten to twenty–two years old. Throughout their grieving process adolescent have a range of many emotions and inner conflicts which are greatly influenced by their biologically changes in their bodies. During times of grief, adolescents also face inner conflicts of life, death, loneliness, frustration, depression and so forth. These questions of life and death gives opportunities to many adolescents to explore their spirituality or religion. Adolescents also have an egocentric altitude, which makes them believe that their situation is different then everyone else's. Even though the youth can be dealing with inner conflicts, many youth would not express their emotions with others. Even though adolescents may not express their feeling their actions, low grades, violence, sexual behavior is an alert sign to parents that there something wrong. Teenagers would also think that their "immoral" and would do risky activities just to test their lives. After reading the assign reading, what stood out the most was knowing that adolescents would do risky activities in order to test their morality. I thought that information was interesting because at one point in our lives as teens we did believe that we would live forever. When... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. Grieving Process Sometimes death can become a part of your life so suddenly, it can be difficult to deal with the reality of it, or even be sure of what your next course of action should be. Fortunately, both of my parents are alive and well and yet, for the purposes of this document, I will be looking at the proper steps one should expect to take when met with the terrible circumstance of both parental figures passing away, and, moreover, leaving the responsibility of the resulting affairs to oneself. Fortunately for our local area, there are support groups available to help with the grieving process, but one should be prepared to deal with the paperwork, as well. The death of a parent can often leave one feeling extremely off, isolated and alone. It may shatter and crumble a sense of security and stability that has been in place for most likely all of one's life. There may be surfacing of concerns for those affected by the death, including siblings and grandparents, or even our parents' grandchildren. Expanding on a presentation done by Miller (2010), rites of passage may trigger strong and deeply felt reactions and inner movements, as well as special occasions, activities or locations. • 10. The Preservation Of Memories And Grieving Process In Anne Carson's Nox, the preservation of memories and grieving process are shown by formatting and themes of imagery, encapsulation, isolation, and completion. Upon first impression, Nox's pages look photocopied, but real enough that the pages feel three–dimensional, as though there's a residue from the author lingering on the pages. Her brother's death prompts Carson to act as his historian and detail his life through different media. Carson compiles images from different sources, including herself, and then brings them together to form an epitaph in the form of a collage. Collaging becomes a collection of preserved emotions from the author. Collaging helps express emotions of the self that simple words cannot express. Nox's format being a collage pulls the audience into memories of childhood. Young children making collages in art class and excitedly running home to show their families. Except, Carson cannot show her brother or mother the collage. Reading Nox feels very voyeuristic as a result. The audience watches Carson's grieving process literally unfold. Carson becomes her brother's historian, collaging his life whether positive or negative. Carson and her brother were closer as children but not at all as adults, and many photos focus on their childhood. The photos are interspersed after definitions (Carson 5.4). Nox becomes a vessel for the preservation of Carson's memories of her brother, whether they be positive or negative. Light imagery, in contrast to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Grieving In Old Yeller The basic argument of Old Yeller is that death is something that is necessary and merciful. This movie also focuses on ways to cope with the death. There is an emphasis on focusing on the positive things in live to help cope with death. (Anderson & Stevenson, 1957.) One of my favorite parts of this film was when the father was comforting the son over the loss of Old Yeller. While providing words of wisdom, the father emphasizes that this is something that the son must come to terms with and acknowledges that it will be a difficult process. Also, the dad struggles to find an appropriate way to explain how to move on. This provides a genuine example of how grieving occurs that is not always present in cinema. • 12. The Grieving Process Grief is a sense of loss which is a natural emotion. If one does, not grieve properly it can lead to emotional and physical problems. To avoid this from happening allow time to grieve, feel the pain and sorrow and let it out. This is natural, this is also healthy. There are five steps of the grieving process: anger, bargaining, depression, and resolution (Manning, Curtis, McMillin, & Attenweiler, 2011). Denial is being in disbelief that loss has actually happen (Manning, et al, 2011). This is a feeling at some point in someone's lives that we can relate to this grieving process. Thank you for taking time and giving me the opportunity to let me present to you my dramatic treatment to the 7 Stages of Grieving. This presentation will display my chosen scene and other significant ideas to this opportunity and I will present this with the justification of my dramatic decisions. Throughout my production I aim to produce an empowering dramatic feeling for the audience. It is to foreshadow the feeling that throughout my scene Aboriginals are moralised and seen as inhumane and always fighting, this purpose and context helps my audience and actors feel as they are begging just to be treated as humans with emotions and feelings. I have chosen to manipulate physical theatre and employ the use of shakuhachi, butoh expressive of grief, slowly of speech and pauses and/or freezes, which successfully communicates an empowering dramatic effect and plays on the audiences of emotion with grief and their family. My actions chosen in scene help represent my work as a poetic, dramatic, grotesque piece of art. The sole justification for my dramatic choices of such given in this scene was to communicate a solid connection through my actors to my script to my actions and then to my audience which is my main objective through the play so they can identify my dramatic meaning of society always undermining the Indigenous community as they have been stereotyped to be seen as drunkards and abusive people within our society of racism, inequality and ... • 14. Response To Grieving Men in out society are referred to as tough, emotionless, strong and dependable. Often a man that cries is perceived as soft and weak; therefore we may be led to believe that men do not have a problem. However, this statement is incorrect. Men who are "tough" and do not cry as a response to grief are actually the men we should be most worried about because they tend to bottle up their emotions. Masculine patterns of coping with grief are different but not less effective than the more conventional or feminine ways of dealing with a loss (Doka, K. J., & Martin, T. L., 2010). The use of the word masculine response to grief is not always the most proper term. Some women respond in the same way as men when responding to grief and men sometimes responds... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... L., & Doka, K. J., 1999). There are some men who do show emotion and express how they are feeling to others. Men who internalize their feeling and try and stay tough need support through someone being with them and having a presence in their life. They do not want to talk and communicate as much because this makes them feel uncomfortable and soft. They prefer that the person with them talk and that they can just listen. Sometimes the men who internalize their feelings do not even need the person with them to talk they just need the presence and company of someone being with them. These individuals also tend to be more spiritual but they do this alone. Although these individuals like someone to be present they also like to be left alone, asking too many questions will make this person's grief worse and may completely shut them off. As the odds are likely that a nurse will experience this event, taking time after one of your patients have died is essential for your mental health as this event is very stressful and sad. When one takes this time off to grieve the ultimate goal is to be able to be mentally strong walking back onto your floor. • 17. The Grieving Process In todays ever–changing society, many schools and students have been forced to face a variety of stressors. Specifically, adolescents face some of the greatest challenges related to academic, social and personal aspects of their lives while also at a very vulnerable and fragile stage of development. Unfortunately, one of the most severe challenges adolescents may face is the death of a loved one; this may include parents, siblings, relatives, peers, pets or anyone who has influenced the adolescent's life in some way. According to Minino & Smith (2001), "The top three leading causes of death for adolescents are accidents, suicides, and homicides" (p. 386). Although much of the research has addressed bereavement in adulthood, we know that it is not to be expected that adolescents grieve the same as adults and often face a variety of other challenges related to developmental influences. When reaching out to students and adolescents who have experienced a loss, it is important to consider the type of loss, the timing of the loss and to appreciate and recognize that each individual's grieving process is very different. But when something unfortunate happen to them, grieving takes place. Grief or grieving is a condition that occurs in response to an individual's loss of a close relationship, own terminal illness or to the death of a someone who is important or pet (PsychCentral.com, 2006 ). Schultz and Videbeck (2002) suggested that people should be necessary to walk through the stages, evincing and accepting the emotions involved in the situation. As compared to the previous stage, one is able to look at the bright side of the future and the otherwise in an optimistic way (Howarth, 2011). For example, after the break–up of a long–term relationship, one may start to accept the truth that both may not be on terms again in the future. One may perceive that the partner is not the right one and consequently the break–up. However, it is distinguishable from getting over it. In layman terms, it is one way ahead of "getting–over–it" (Howarth, 2011). In the aforementioned case, one may look at future with anticipation that they may get back on the right track again in the future (Hogan & Wright, 2008). To elaborate, after trying out at the previous stage, one usually takes shelter that one has put the greatest effort on it, it is good if workable, however, the otherwise can be accepted without much sense of loss. Hence in this stage, one does not expect the outcome to be as one's will anymore. (Howarth, 2011). As compared to the previous stage, one anticipates things to turn out well, if not better. Thus, it would end up a disaster again if the expectation is not realised (Hogan & Wright, 2008). The only cure for grief is to grieve" (Earl Grollman) The first step of the grieving process is denial. Denial is the unwillingness or inability to accept that a loss has occurred. During this stage, the person may not talk to you or she my act as the deceased person is still there. When in denial the person that is grieving normally acts like everything is fine and nothing has happened. The first stage is the brains defense mechanism; it allows the death to "hit" them for a period of time before the person actually comes to terms with the loss. Social media is beneficial to the well–being of many young adults because it allows them to freely express their emotions and to reach out to the digital community whenever they encounter hardships. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One specific hardship that many individuals may face during young adulthood is the death of a close friend or loved one. Michelle Palmer, author of the article "Understanding and Supporting Grieving Adolescents and Young Adults" states, "Online sources suggest that one in 10 adolescents aged 10 to 18 years are grieving the death of a close loved one, and roughly 22% to 30% of college undergraduates are in their first 12 months of grieving for a parent, grandparent, sibling, or close friend" (Palmer). These statistics demonstrate that there is a copious quantity of grieving young adults who are in need of a listening ear. The grieving process associated with the loss of a loved one can take a toll on the mental health of an individual; however, social media platforms provide grieving teens with a support system and a creative outlet to express their emotions. Palmer claims that "the most positive aspect of social media as a source of grief support is a shared location for young people to express support and condolences" (Palmer). While grieving, it is not uncommon for a teenager to feel as though he or she is alone. Social media can help alleviate these feelings of solitude by providing mourning adolescents with a grief circle in which they can connect with others who are going through the same experience. Examples of how people "grieve in unique ways" could be simply be what they do with the ashes or getting a tattoo. Some people like to wear the ashes in a piece of jewelry and others like to dump the ashes in a meaningful place to them or to the person. There is no right or wrong way to how you grieve and people do not have to do it in specific ways, that is what makes it so unique. Another peripheral issue to understand is that people will experience new emotions and that leads to a clashing of emotions. An example of clashing emotions could be when someone passes away but during the same time something good happens. The mixture of extreme happiness and sadness can cause a person to feel a way they have never felt before and it is important to understand that it is completely normal, but talking to someone about it can help. More peripheral issue to talk about is how people need a starting point for the grieving process. For example, having a funeral because it is hard to start the process without a starting point. Another issue could be not having a self–identity; it is easier to grieve when people have their own title and not one that was shared between them and the passed loved one. Last, the things called "unspoken losses." This is seen after someone passes away and others cannot mention the loss to them or even bring it up around the time of the death. Nurses And Grieving : A Time For Change Nurses and Grieving: A Time for Change Elli Hunt Denver School of Nursing Abstract Individuals enter nursing with a wide array of experiences in how they grieve the loss of someone or something. These experiences follow them into their career and express themselves in the way they grieve for the loss of a patient. Evidence shows that this has historically been inadequate and unhealthy. To prevent the negative impact that ineffective grieving has upon the individual the approach to the grieving process must change. In doing so nurses will become more emotionally and physically stable while going through these difficult times, ultimately helping the healthcare institution to thrive. CASE STUDY My husband, Bob, a veteran nurse for 30 years stares into the distance with a seemingly emotional detachment as he recollects the horrifying events of that day. As a new nurse working in a small rural hospital he was wrapping up his typical day finalizing charts and making sure his 32 patients were doing well when he received the call from an Emergency Room (ER) technician. A father had frantically called the ER stating he was bringing his 18–month old boy in who he had accidently run over with his riding lawn mower. Bob responded immediately and within minutes saw a man running toward the door holding a small lifeless figure wrapped in a blood soaked towel. Bob took the child from the father and ran into the trauma room where he unwrapped the towel from the child. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some clients can talk easily about their feelings of anger; many others initially express it as envy, resentment, injustice, hatred, or blame. For example, blaming oneself for not noticing that the person was unwell or blaming the deceased for dying. Blaming can cause guilt and further anxiety and become a vicious circle. Sometimes people get survivor guilt or may feel it is safer to be guilty than angry. As I said earlier anger is a natural reaction to grief and loss; getting mad occasionally is normal. But if anger stays too long, it can develop into a stronger emotion called rage, and that can turn out of control. Anger that is unresolved can create bitterness.
