During 7 sessions ( one per week) I have been teaching in Hugh Myddelton Primary School about architecture, from the present and for the future.
Urban fauna, food and agriculture, green spaces, skyscraper, public transport, energy, energy, energy!!!...These children are already citizens and they should be prepared and concerned about their built enviorenment, to ask for and to provoque changes. Together we can improve our cities but first we have to open our minds to embrace new solutions.
The Children are our brighter future.

3. The aim of this club has been to learn about our existing cities and to obtain the knowledge
and the curiosity to start designing an environmentally friendly future for all of us.
We have dreamt all together and we really enjoyed.
4. The issues that we have been talking
and learning about, have been a wide
range of subjects which are directly
involved in the mechanism of the
existing and future cities.
Energy,transport, Co2 emissions, local
food, water, urban fauna, flora,
public space, housing, rehabilitation,
population...these are some of the
concepts that we discuss all together
and where we propose changes to
improve the future city.
We have learnt that we consume to much
in our existing cities,so...We need a
change and we are ready to do it!!
Some new designs and ideas from our
young designers have been about Solar
panels, wind mills, algae biodiesel,
active buildings, growing food,
designing new public transport
facilities...
5. In our new city we will
have tall buildings
completely covered by
solar panels, which
ones keep the Sun
energy in big tanks and
later on reflect it to
others. Wow!!
6. We have long solar trains all around the new city.Going Up and Down
7. Should we ask for
a patent with
this design?
We have colourful
solar panels on
the roof and
gardens hanging
from the top full
of tomatoes.
Solar panels in
different colours
is an amazing
idea!!
8.
9. We have wind mills in our new school and all the roof is covered with solar panels, the
shape is inspired by Zaha Hadid´s new school at London ( Evelyn Grace Academy)...I think
ours is even better than hers!
10. We have studied trough several
examples in different cities that
architecture can be beautiful and
fun.
We have studied something really
important in the present growing
process in cities. We have to
allow the new and modern
architecture to have its place in
the existing city and as the same
time we need to care our heritage.
We can do both things and we enjoy
the embrace the future as a nice
chalenge.
We have enjoyed images such as
rehabilitations and new projects
in protected areas. Sir Peter Cook
project in Graz, was the most
impressive for all our new
designers.
11.
12. We have been talking about
how crowded are going to be
the future cities.
In 2050 75% of people will be
leaving in cities.We will
need lots of houses and we
have learnt that there plenty
examples of different houses.
13. We have designed really
tall buildings with lots
of apartments.
Also we have schools in
the air reached by cable
cars linked with the
high high block of
flats. Amazing our daily
trip to school!
14. We have been learning how
important is to grow food close
to the people and how to
minimise the CO2 production.
Obviously I have shown my
projects with green houses
replacing the old roofs.
15. We have designed our coffee shops growing coffee beans in the garden
16. We really know how important is to produce energy. We have a cinema powered by bikes.
