2. The brief description of the lesson(s):
The lesson introduces the straw handicrafts as one of the
oldest folk art traditions in Kėdainiai town and in
Lithuania, in general. The main attention is concentrated
on one of the oldest folk art traditions in the native land.”
3. Learning outcomes:
~ To develop the artificial approach to the
handicraft heritage of Kėdainiai town and
Lithuania, in general;
~ To develop the creative understanding of straw
handicraft art as one of the oldest folk art
traditions in the native land;
~ To foresee the possibilities to continue the
uniqueness of the above-mentioned kinds of the
folk art;
~ To encourage the students to cherish and
propagate the uniqueness of the straw
handicrafts an one of the oldest folk art
traditions;
~ etc.
4. At the end of the lesson(s) course,
the students will:
~ Understand:
-the values of the straw handicraft art in the native land;
-the principles how to maintain the cultural heritage of the
native town;
-the generalizations of the importance of the cultural heritage of
the native town/ land that creates the uniqueness of the national
image in the world;
-etc.
~ Know:
-the facts connected with the straw handicraft history, types,
purposes;
-the thematic vocabulary both in the Lithuanian and English
languages;
-etc.
~ Do the activities necessary for an educated and intelligent
student (citizen) of the 21st century:
-the critical thinking/problem solving/
communication/collaboration/ creativity/media
literacy/technology skills;
-the visit to the Arneth House, a part of Kėdainiai folk cultural
center;
-the on-line research;
-the presentation of the public speech based on the analyzed
and generalized materials;
-etc.
5. The search tasks for the small groups
of the students:
I. The history of the straw handicrafts in Lithuania.
II. The past and the present of the handicrafts in
“The Arneth House” situated in the Old Town of
Kėdainiai, Lithuania.
III. The reflection of the straw handicrafts in
Christmas, Easter and other national holidays of
Lithuania.
