The International Services Office at the George Washington University
facilitates international educational exchange through it’s services and
programs. They offer advising for our J-1 and F-1 students relating to
immigration status, academic, personal, and cultural adjustments.
4. Check In with ISO When You
Arrive in the U.S.

Mandatory In-Person Check-In
Once you have completed E-Check In, you are required to visit
the ISO in person with your passport to complete In-Person
Check-In. Your passport and identity will be confirmed by an ISO
staff member. In-Person Check-In is required in order for ISO to
validate your student immigration status in SEVIS.
5. You must have attended the ISO Orientation for new
graduate students.

6. As an international student, to maintain legal visa status, you
must be enrolled in classes as a full time graduate student
during Fall and Spring semesters.

7. You may need less than 9 credits complete your degree
requirements during your last semester. In that case,
you may apply for a reduced course load. Please
contact the ISO and SEAS Graduate Advising to begin
the process.

8. Do I need to take the EAP course?
If you need to take the EAP course, it will be listed on
your admissions letter.
• The EAP course is one 3-credit course that you
MUST take during your first semester.
• You must receive a grade of a B- or better, in order to
fulfill the requirement.

9. Review the official transcript policy for SEAS graduate students
at https://graduate.seas.gwu.edu/official-transcript-policy
Deadlines to submit official transcripts
• Fall Admission: November 1st
• Spring Admission: April 1st
What if I don’t submit my transcripts on time?
Failure to submit your transcripts will result in a hold being placed on
your record which will block your enrollment.
Please Note: Students from China, India and Iran have special
instructions on how to submit official transcripts. Please see website.
