world internationally." Payne Fessterman c/o 2013
7. IB Math
"The IB program is the best
vehicle available for complete
integration of all the different
academic disciplines into one
cohesive program. IB students

English, but they also learn how to
apply math to science, history to
English, etc.
IB Math
Students learn how to write about
and discuss topics that they would
not normally consider in such
verbal contexts, and they learn to
relate concepts to their own
lives, and to society." Mr. McHugh
8. English
III The objective of this course is to build upon your
knowledge of literature while strengthening both
your oral and written powers of expression. During
the course of these two years, we will examine a
variety of literature while exploring a diversity of
discussion styles and techniques.
9. IB English IV
"Students are offered something
very much needed in today’s
secondary education system: high
academic standards combined
with rigorous exams aligned to
those standards and are also
expected to make sense of
complex, and sometimes
contradictory, materials; to write
and defend their opinions about
these materials intelligently; and
to apply their knowledge in
creative and productive ways.
These are the skills that will serve
them well in later years" Mr.
Knight

15. Quotes from RHS Students: Class of 2014
"The IB program is a very rigorous
experience that is not for the faint of
heart. The work is difficult and I have
often found myself working late into
the night on an assignment that was
due the next day. However, the
program has taught me the virtues of
time management and how to get
work done in an efficient manner. The
IB program as a whole is a very
difficult transition but once you get
used to it it becomes a very good lead
up into future college life." Forrest
Gamble

conceptually and experimentally) there is nothing better than IB
Biology. The amount of time spent in lab in IB Biology is
significantly more, and the level of understanding you will acquire
over two years of time spent in class will prepare you for college
better than an AP course could. Past IB students will tell you how
prepared they are for college science classes. If you want to
pursue a career in any science related field, IB Biology is a
course you need to take. The experience will be prepare you
better than any other advanced level course could." Mr. Williams

day really gave me a chance to see
how the program that I am in is
going to prepare me for the
experiences that I will have in
college. We got to hear from
students and faculty about what
college life will be like. The IB
program gives you many
opportunities to see how to best
advance yourself in the world, and
how to get your name out there."
Savannah Chaney
24. "The trip to Wake

and allowed the IB

true nature of college
and college courses."
Christopher Cotter c/o
