2. A K-8 school located in the Denver area, Graland
Country Day School offers a wide range of athletic
programs for students of all ages. Between
kindergarten and third grade, students attend
physical education classes designed to teach them
about mature motor patterns, stability skills, and
fundamental locomotor ability. During this time,
students also learn about the social aspects of
physical activities, including sportsmanship,
cooperation, teamwork, and participation. Starting
in the fourth grade, students learn about the
concepts underlying team games.
3. Once students at Graland reach middle school,
they have the opportunity to participate on a variety
of athletic teams, including basketball, soccer,
tennis, field hockey, volleyball, and even football.
Alternatively, Graland provides coaching in sports
like ballet, golf, ice skating, and horseback riding.
Through its various competitive sports teams,
Graland Country Day School hopes to prepare
students for a lifetime of physical fitness and teach
them about virtues like discipline, respect, and
commitment.
