Data Con LA 2020 Description Los Angeles has a rich ecosystem of technology and data science talent. In this talk, we'll walk through how 88 cities partner with the data science community to achieve greater impact. Through two innovative programs -- Data Angels, which is targeted at professional data scientists who give back to the community, and the Data Science Federation, which is focused on college students -- the City of Los Angeles has demonstrated what can be accomplished by connecting volunteer data scientists with department data projects. This presentation will showcase some successful projects that have emerged from this collaboration. We will also discuss how other public service driven organizations (like nonprofits, foundations, and advocacy organizations) can leverage the data science community to expand their capacity and achieve greater impact. Speaker Eva Pereira, City of Los Angeles, Deputy Chief Data Officer
