❖ Here are five major issues that will be positively affected
with blockchain technologies and their evolving distribution
platforms:
❖ Issue #1 – Consumers Ability to Access Content – Content
discovery, affordability, and access due to geography, OTT
app or network availability, and the underlying costs still are
preventing consumers from accessing content as easily as
they want it, when they want it, and in their desired format.
❖ Issue #2 – Producers and Talent’s Ability to Participate in
Intellectual Property Ownership – Streaming companies pay
upfront fees for original programming. This means that
producers and talent are not even awarded profit
participations. The producers don’t have any intellectual
property ownership in their film, TV, AR/VR project.

❖ Issue #3 – Producers Ability to Engage Consumers in the
Production, Distribution, and Marketing – Due to the
proliferation of programming, producers may want to engage
their consumer team members with the development,
production, distribution, marketing and/or curating of
programming. This is much more achievable in a
decentralized, network environment, where everyone’s
contribution is trackable.
❖ Issue #4 – Accurate Tracking of Ownership and Profit
Participations – The current ownership and profit
participation tracking systems in Hollywood could be
improved. With an open and transparent ledger, most
mistakes in tracking ownership and profit participations
could be avoided.
❖ Issue 5 – Ability to Distribute Content to the Engaged
Audience – As streaming companies like Netflix and
Amazon gain access to consumer viewing data, several
large technology companies are on a quest to own
entertainment related consumer data.

Helmed by Swedish film producer Niels Juul, an
entrepreneur and executive producer whose
credits include Martin Scorcese’s Silence and The
Irishman.
● Each NFT will be a membership pass, granting
voting power in studio decisions as well as
other benefits like free merchandise, film
festival afterparty tickets, their name in film
credits, and more NFTs.
● Like other NFT film startups, a portion of the
profits for each film will be funneled back to the
community and earmarked toward the next
project.

The Visible Project
Spike Lee’s The Visible Project is another
example of NFTs forging new paths in the film
industry.
● The collection launch features 3,945 NFTs of
original frames in his 1986 film She’s Gotta
Have It.
● The Visible Project has partnered with Habitat
Labs, an NFT white-label service provider to
implement this new way of filmmaking.

Nas
● Last month, the artist Nas performed his song
“Rare” as part of a medley at the 2022 Grammy
Awards.
● It was noteworthy because some viewers likely
owned a portion of that song’s streaming rights
courtesy of an earlier non-fungible token (NFT)
drop for tokenized royalties.
● In January, the rapper released two tracks as
limited edition NFTs with embedded streaming
royalty rights. A $50 ownership interest earned
0.0143% of the songs’ streaming royalties while
a $4,999 purchase netted 2.14%.

Coachella auctions
lifetime festival passes
as NFTs
● Partnering with cryptocurrency exchange FTX,
Coachella is auctioned off lifetime passes to the
festival as NFTs. 10 one-of-one NFTs that grant
lifetime festival access and VIP on-site
experiences.
● “Only blockchain technology can give us the
unique ability to offer tradable lifetime passes to
Coachella for the first time ever.”

Decentraland X JP Morgan
● In a report titled “Opportunities in the
Metaverse,” J.P. Morgan wrote that the
metaverse “will likely infiltrate every sector in
some way in the coming years”.
● JPMorgan sees a new workforce and expanded
virtual real-estate ownership financed by DAOs.
● In the JP Morgan virtual space, a person's
avatar can watch experts talk about the crypto
market.

Sandbox X Warner Music
● Warner Music Group (WMG) has partnered with The
Sandbox, a gaming virtual world, to create its first
music-themed world, WMG LAND. It will feature
concerts and musical experiences from WMG's leading
roster of artists like Snoop Dogg.
● SandBox and Warner Music will host a Land sale event
that will allow music fans to buy properties close to
WMG in the SandBox Metaverse.

destination where creators, fans, and players can enjoy
first-of-a-kind immersive experiences and be more
closely connected to their favorite musical artists
