2. What information is the audience given in terms
of genre and narrative? What does this lead you to
expect from the film?
This makes me believe that the film is jam-packed with twist and turns and
we never know what starts the problems we only see the bad things so this
makes us want to see what is going to happen next.
The genre comes with the storyline as the use of dark music plays with the
shots. the genre conveyed is horror the use of short fast shot that have the
audience on the edge of their seats. The low key lighting sets the mood.
The use of the setting as typical horror films are set in woods and it follows
a bunch of kids getting hurt. Something is has gone wrong and the grime
shots of the girl pulling out something in her leg fits well with horror. This

3. What is the USP or key selling points?
For me, the USP is the whole idea of the kids in the woods and
something goes wrong. it draws people into what to know what
happened. As it doesn't say anything. First, everything is ok and then
next everything goes bad. The question there is something in the
woods engages the audience. The usage of having the camera pov
creates a different atmosphere and we are to get a different feel of the
film as we don't see horror film like this.
4. What questions does it leave the audience
with? Enigma?
The questions that we are left with is one what is in woods. as the
questions leave an enigma. Who are the characters and why are they
in the woods? Who can be trusted and who is out to get them. Why
do things go wrong? There are many questions the trailer leave but I
know that it always has you on the edge of your seat.
How long is the sequence?
The Blair witch sequence is 1.28 which falls into the typical conventions
of a teaser trailer. This means not a lot is given away.
5. How this might be useful for your own production
planning – what have you taken from this? What
elements could you borrow?
This is helpful to me and my group as we want to create the same
thing. 2 YouTubers that go camping and something goes wrong. But
we want to capture it through our iPhones so people feel like we are
vlogging the actual events. The use of the creepy mistakes and fast
shots will allow us to keep the same typical things in a horror film
but with a twist.
Finally, sum up with comments on how this might be useful for your
own production planning – what have you taken from this? What
elements could you borrow?
We would like to also borrow the use of the shape and catchy
tagline that engage the audience and will hopeful leave an enigma. I
hope me and my group will come together and create something
that will get us the top grades.
6. What type of audience is being addressed?
The type of audience being addressed age wise is teenagers and young adults as
the age of the characters cater to them. When looking at the gender type I think it
is catered to both genders as the cast features a mixture of boys and girls brings in
a well-rounded audience. No one is left out. But the shots shown are of the
females hurt which is normal in a horror film. The characters are seen as everyday
teens enjoying life and videoing every moment. The use of having a camera, Vlog
vibe make the audience feel like there are holding the camera themselves. But I
think the first choice of audience is teens.
