1. The document discusses the concept of acting in Krishna consciousness, which means acting in service of Krishna. When one acts in this way, they are freed from sin.
2. It provides the example of Ajamil, who was saved from hell by accidentally chanting the name of Krishna as he called for his son. This illustrates that any work done in Krishna consciousness is never lost and can protect one from dangers.
3. The document advises that one should perform their service to Krishna with endeavor but depend on Him for everything, and act without attachment to results in order to be freed from the cycle of birth and death.

CHAPTER 02
WHO AM I
You are not this body; you are spirit self
The body goes on changing, but the change is never in
self
Lesson-06
WHAT IS ACTION IN KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS?
Krishna has by far explained the knowledge of spirit and
body. (Who we are)
Because we are all parts of God, we are naturallyservants
of God, just as a part of body serves entire body.
Therefore, we should act in service of Krishna. This is
called acting in Krishna Consciousness which frees one
from sin. (Sin means disobedienceto God’s law just as
crime means disobedienceto Government’s law)
KRISHNA’S FIFTH INSTRUCTION: ANYTHING DONE IN
SERVICE OF KRISHNA IS NEVER LOST AND A LITTLE
ADVANCEMENT ON THIS PATH CAN PROTECT ONE FROM
GREATEST DANGERS.
Ajamilapastime
2. There was a brahmananamed Ajamil. He happened to see
a sinful shameless enchantress and was attracted to her.
He got married to her and drove his previous good wife
out of home. Then he did not take care of his father and
mother. He earned money by sinful means and maintained
the enchantressand led a sinful life with her. Because of
his sins, messengers of Yamaraj (the demigod in charge
of death)came to take Ajamil to hell. But then Ajamil
happenedto chant “Narayana”, one of the names of
Krishna. He was actuallycalling his son whose name was
also kept as Narayana, but because he chanted God’s
name somehow or the other, he was saved from hell and
given anotherchanceto reform which he did and went
back to spiritual world, the abode of Krishna.
MORAL: So even a littlework begun in Krishna
Consciousnessis never lost and bears result, while any
other action in thisworld will be unprofitableunless
hundredpercent finished.Even the hundredpercent
finishedmaterial activitywill givesome temporaryresults
and be lost. But any actionin KrishnaConsciousnessis
never lost.
HOW TO WORK IN KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS?
God gives a task to His devotee, “Push the rock with all
your might.” The devotee tries hard but could not move it
an inch. Frustrated he comes to Lord and says, “I am
3. failure, I could not move it.” God: Who told you to move
it? I just told you to push it hard and you did it. So
according to Me, you are not a failure. Your submission
and service is what all I want. Why worry about result?
Exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that it
is still the God who moves the mountain. Just like a
farmer who puts all his effort but humbly dependson rain.
Similarly we perform our service to Krishna with all our
endeavors but depend upon Krishna for everything. We
should do our duty without being attached to results. In
otherwords, we should engage in devotional service of
Krishna for Krishna’s pleasure. Only then we can be free
from the cycle of birth and death and go back to spiritual
world, which is our original home where Krishna is
waiting for us.
HOW CAN I GIVE UP MY BAD HABITS?
One can engage his ears in hearing the sweet sound of
Holy name of Krishna or the divine pastimes of Krishna.
We can engage our eyes in seeing the beauty of the deities
of Krishna in the temple. We can engage our tongue in
tasting Krishna Prasad (foodstuff offered to Krishna) and
glorifying His qualities. This way we can experience the
higher taste of Krishna consciousness, which completely
satisfies and purifies our heart. This is a very simple and
blissful way of living life.
4. Once we are satisfied in Krishna’s service, automatically
we need not engage ourselves in lower things like
watching TV hours after hours damaging our eyes and
heads, or hearing movie songs or reading ordinary novels.
Unless we have the higher taste of Krishna we cannot
give up the lower taste for nasty habits.
The swan and the crow
There were two friends, a swan and a crow. The swan told
the crow that he visited a place in Himalayas which was
so beautiful. “You can drink the fresh nectar like water
there. You can eat fresh juicy fruits. There are beautiful
lotuses in the pond where you can play around. Please let
us go there.”
Crow: Well, what you have said is all good but are there
any garbage pits out there where I can find nice fluffy
rats?
Swan (surprised): No way.
Crow: Are there at least some crabs in that lake so that I
can feast nicely upon them?
Swan: Not really.
Crow: Then what kind of miserable place is that? I prefer
to stay here.
MORAL: This is what happenswhen one has no idea of
what highertasteand higherpleasureis.
5. In the next chapter, Krishna will explain:
How is the action in Krishna consciousness different from
the actions that we usually do out of selfishness? What
will happen if I do nothing?
