DIABETES AND BHRAMARI Dr. Shriniwas Kashalikar
Diabetes is known to invite infections. But I tell myself that there is nothing to worry. The common infections such as the respiratory viral infections can be largely overcome by pranayama such as Bhramari. Humming like a bee with index fingers on the forehead near the eyebrows, middle and ring fingers on the closed eyes, little fingers on the cheek below the lower eyelids and the thumbs on the openings of the ears, during prolonged and peaceful expiration is called Bhramari pranayama. The mechanism by which it works; appears to be vibrations produced from within. This is a unique way of internal
stimulation (not possible by external vibratory equipments), that produces vibratory stimulation of internal organs such as sinuses and oro-pharyngeal and laryngeal areas. But extensive double blind clinical trials have to be done to confirm its utility. But in any case, I find it very peace giving, calming and soothing activity! DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
