In order to gain new clients, you need to have a
marketing plan that includes advertising and
social media. Social media outlets like Twitter,
Instagram and SnapChat are great ways to
increase your market share for very little cost.

Why should you advertise
▸Advertising is the only medium we can control.
▸Advertising allows you to create a credible message and
brings awareness to your product.
▸Advertising allows you to target your desired client.
▸Advertising slowly helps you build your client base.
▸Advertising boosts repeat business.

Determining Where to Advertise
Thinking of your target audience and the type of
advertising you want to do keep these things in mind:
▸You are not allowed to target anyone 21 and under.
▸States are very specific on where they allow advertising
when 30% or more of the viewing audience is under 21.
▸When targeted an aging population, consider material
that could be placed in a doctor’s office.
▸Look to see if you are able to use radio as a medium.
Investment shows and sports radio would be stations to
consider advertising on.

Budgeting
Advertising, regardless of more tradition platforms v.
social media, cost money. There are a few things to
take into account when setting your investment.
▸This is an investment. Treat it like one.
▸Be conservative to start. Once you made an
ad buy you cannot get money back, but you
can always add more money.
▸You will not see an uptick in new revenue
immediately. It takes time.

Social media is turned the advertising world on
it’s head and continues to evolve at a rapid
pace. Reasons are:
▸Cost
▸Ability to create a very targeted campaign
▸Instant results via likes, direct messages,
reposts.
▸Ability for the consumer to contact you
directly moments are seeing the ad.

following to make sure that you are generating

Summary
Advertising and social media are key aspects to your
business plan when it comes to expanding market share.
Once you have defined a target demographic, start to
create content and place it throughout social media
platforms and a few traditional mediums. You will need to
set an advertising budget and determine how much each
medium will receive.
Advertising will not produce a return on investment
immediately, it will take time. Social media, which is a part
of advertising, gives patrons a way to connect with you
directly and quickly. While your brand will stay the same,
your advertising plans will continue to evolve and change.
