Being a manager is hard. I may find myself in situations where
need to make difficult decisions and they won’t always be
popular. While it’s important to gather my team’s input, in the
end, it’s my responsibility to decide what’s best even if that
means disappointing some of my direct reports. Many new
managers fear upsetting others, but trying to please everyone is
a recipe for leadership disaster. Be prepared to explain the
