3. INTRODUCTION
Low beams illuminate the road of short range.
While high beams have a longer range and wider
angle.
The system prevents from blinding off the drivers
and allow us to keep high beam function.
Approximately 30% of drivers are stressed by glare
causing hundreds of fatalities every year.
More than 300000 crashes are caused by rain and
snow at night annually.
Dazzling of lights are the problem to driver during the
night time - over come through multi beam LED. 3
6. LED
Xenon and halogen are the most used head lamps.
LED has color temperature 6000K, xenon and
halogen comes around 4500K and 3200K.
LED is closer to day light color temperature which
is about 5500K.
LED will last longer for 4000 hours.

7. MODULE
Each module of Mercedes Benz containing
24 individually activated LED chip per head lamp.
Each one of these LEDs can be individually
electronically controlled.
Allow a light distribution of previously unknown
precision and dynamism.
This enables the individual areas of the road
surface to be illuminated in a very specific
manner.
New E-Class uses a newly developed, high- fitted
with 84 high-performance LED chip.
The resolution of light pattern to be increased by a
factor of around 3.5.
7
10. HEAD LAMP BEAMS
Automatic Front Light System (AFS) comprise
four different light systems.
The adjustment of light depend on speed,
road and weather condition.
10
11. CLASSIC BEAM
This beam is low beam, it is default path of
AFS system.
Activated during neutral state.

12. TOWN BEAM
Town light is activated at speed of not exceeding
50km/h.
In town beam offer a wider beam path for
sidewalks visibility.
Visibility up to 150m.

12
13. MOTOR WAY BEAM
Motor way light is activated until its speed
exceeds 70km/h.
Visibility up to 200m.

14. WET ROAD BEAM
Sensor detects rain it increases light illumination
by switching its off side light.
It widens its light up to 30m.
Fig.11 wet road beam 14
15. BEND LIGHTING
Designed to make driving safer by increasing
visibility around curves and over hills.
When driving around a bend in the road,
standard headlights continue to shine straight
ahead.
Illuminating the side of the road and leaving the
road ahead of you in the dark.
Adaptive headlights, turn the beams according to
curve.
so that the vehicle’s actual path is lit up.
15
17. MECHANICAL SYSTEM
In this system two head lights operated by rack and
pinion systems.
The steering rack which is a long toothed bar with
the tie rods attached to each end.
On the end of the steering shaft there is a simple
pinion gear that meshes with the rack.
When you turn the steering wheel, the pinion gear
turns, and moves the rack from left to right.
Changing the size of the pinion gear alters the
steering ratio.
17
20. MECHATRONICS SYSTEM
Mechanical system need more response time in order to
overcome.
AFS combines GPS with object sensing camera which
can predict various kinds of driving conditions ahead.
System split the light before the driver has turned the
wheel.
Range of vision is about 25m in a curve with radius of
200m, swiveling maximum 15° outwards and 8°
inwards.
The round about light function on the basis of navigation
data the light beam is widened to left & right before
entering round about.
20
22. SENSOR
A stereo vision system has two cameras located
at a known distance.
A stereo vision system is designed to extract 3D
information from digital images.
Two images used for examining the position of
objects .
Build an advanced object recognition system that
recognizes objects in different arrangement.
Placed behind the wind screen.
22
24. ACTUATOR
An actuator is a component which is
responsible for moving or controlling a
mechanism or system.
An actuator requires a control signal and a
source of energy.
Rotating free form drum is used as actuator.
Movement to a fixed angular position.
24
26. CONCLUSION
Multi beam LED overcomes convectional
lighting system by preventing from blinding
off the drivers on the road which allow us to
keep high beam function turned on all time.
Hazardous when entering and exiting the
bend can be easily recognized.
