2. My Target Audience
My target audience for this documentary is for a very large
range of people, from children in the age range of 12+ to
adults and parents in the age category 25-45. As well as
this, there is also another target audience that will be of the
people who are much older than this and are interested in
the subject. Because the topic of this documentary is very
unique compared to other topics, there is an element of
more people maybe wanting to watch as they are
interested in the subject of the documentary.
I have chosen this target audience as it is likely that
children who would want to watch this, are those whom do
Ballroom and Latin dancing themselves or want to dance.
The middle category can shape the parents of children that
do this type of dance, or even adults that still enjoy this
dance type as a social thing. Finally, the eldest category
are for those who may have liked this dance category in
their youth, or still feel as though this type of dance is
something that should be documented for.
Overall, the target audience for this documentary is such a
lager range that my focus group will take people from all
categories in order to suit everyones needs within the
documentary.
I am planning on using people for my focus group that
either attend my dance school, Southend Dance Centre, or
who are parents of the children that dance there. As well
as this I will include people who have no knowledge of the
dance type and also people who are of an older category.
