1. Earn A Living With Mediavine
July 10, 2020 by samkadya
Did you know that as a blogger you can make a living with Mediavine? If you are not
aware of this then this is the time. The reality is that most people who have switched
from Google Adsense to Mediavine are actually making by far more money now than
with Adsense.
Google Adsense is no longer the only game in town.
Before we go on I should however point out that Mediavine gets most of its ads from
Google Adsense.
But even though they rely on Google they have found a way to only show well-
paying ads on their members’ sites.
Some members have seen more than 80 percent increase in their revenue after
switching from Adsense.

2. I can almost hear some people scratching their heads as to what Mediavine is.
Mediavine is one of the certified Google Adsense Partners and therefore displays
ads from Google but they also have their own network.
Because it is a grouping of website owners they are more interested in making sure
that their algorithm displays well paying ads. This is because they too are relying o
the same algorithm for their websites.
This is what distinguishes them from the competition – they too are bloggers, while
the competition is more interested in what is in it for them.
Besides making you succeed Mediavine will also help connect content creators so
that they can find a way to improve their business.
Actually one of the missions of Mediavine is to help content creators succeed
through networking opportunities.
3. It is through these networks that members learn how to grow their traffic which can
lead to more revenue.
In the interest of fairness, I should add that to make a full-time income with ads you
need lots and lots of traffic. That is why you should consider these display ads as
just one source of your income.
Actually you can get more money selling your own info product or through affiliate
income. You can then use the money you get from ads to supplement that income.
Mediavine Requirements
Like all networks, Mediavine has some requirements for anyone wishing to join their
network. You won’t be accepted unless you meet all these requirements. Such being
the case don’t bother to apply if you don’t meet all these requirements.
1. 50,000 Sessions As Per Google Analytics
To be accepted into Mediavine your site needs to have 50,000 sessions a month
according to Google Analytics. They estimate that this equates to around 60,000
pageviews.
That is a pretty big hurdle for most bloggers let alone new bloggers.
So what is the difference between a pageview and a session? According to Google
sessions is the number of times a visitor visits your page in a given time span of 30
minutes.
The visitor may visit all sorts of pages during that session but it is recorded as one
session. The session ends after 30 minutes.
A visitor may then stop doing any activity on the page and comes back later. If he
comes back after 30 minutes the session cookie will have expired and a new one will
be created. There these two visits will be treated as two sessions even though he
has visited the same page.
2. Must Be in Good Standing With Google Adsense
Table of Contents
4. Another condition is that your website must be in good standing with Google
Adsense. This only makes sense as Mediavine is a certified Google Adsense
Partner and has to be in good books with them.
They therefore cannot serve Google ads on a site that Google deems has not met
their conditions.
Most of their ads are from Google anyway and there will have nothing to offer for you
if you have for example been banned by Google.
3. Original Content
Another requirement is that you must produce original content in categories such as
food, parenting, DIY, health, fitness, fashion, travel, crafts, education, finance,
lifestyle, or entertainment.
While they prefer these categories they still encourage content creators in other
categories to still apply.
4. Exclusive Access
Mediavine also requires that they have exclusive access to both your mobile and
desktop ad inventory.
5. Site Design
Last but not least, Mediavine requires that your site design should be such that it
accommodates their ad placement. This should not be a problem for many platforms
such as WordPress.
You can apply to join Mediavine here.
AdThrive vs Mediavine
Mediavine is not the only alternative to Google Adsense. They are other players that
have joined the fray and they included AdThrive and Ezoic.
At this juncture, I would like to compare AdThrive versus Mediavine and I will leave
Ezoic for another day.
5. Both AdThrive and MediaVine are basically in the same business of offering ads on
websites. They are also both Google Adsense Partners. They offer similar types of
ads.
The first major difference between AdThrive and MediaVine is that AdThrive is larger
than MediaVine. It has a bigger ad inventory than Mediavine and also more higher-
paying advertisers.
This means that all things being equal you will earn more money by joining AdThrive
than MediaVine. If you are jumping from MediaVine to AdThrive you will notice a
bump in your revenue. Some bloggers have reported a jump of 1.5 times.
There have also been others who have noted that with some niches you are better
off staying with MediaVine than jumping ship to AdThrive.
So things are not as straightforward as they seem on the surface. You, therefore,
need to do some research before you decide to change.
The second major difference is that AdThrive being bigger has a higher bar for new
members than MediaVine.
To admitted by AdThrive you need at least 100,000 pageviews a month. They
confirm this by accessing your Google Analytics account.
You, therefore, need to make sure that you have installed Google Analytics for your
blog. This is the only they will confirm that you have had 100,000 pageviews.
6. Such being the case you need to have a running Google Analytics account for at
least a month before applying
They will also only admit you if the majority of your traffic is from the United States of
America.
However their other requirements are basically the same as those of MediaVine.
What To Do If You Don’t Meet The Traffic Requirement of AdThrive
or MediaVine
If you are at the moment failing to meet the traffic requirement of both AdThrive and
MediaVine do not despair. There are other alternatives.
For example, if you are getting at least 10,000 page views per month, you can try
Ezoic. They too are a Google Adsense Partner but also serve ads from other
partners or advertisers.
But since they are a Google Adsense partner you will also need to be in good books
with Google Adsense to be accepted by them. You, therefore, need to be an
Adsense publisher to be admitted.
Because Ezoic chooses the best bidder to show on your site you are most likely to
see a significant increase in your revenue if you switch from Adsense.
Another thing that you can do is to continue working on your site by posting more
content and promoting it.
You can improve the quality of your posts in Google’s eyes by using tools such as
Surfer SEO or Page Optimizer Pro. These tools will advise on the number of words,
7. headings, keyword positioning.
This is all based on the analysis of the results on the 1st page of Google for the
keyword you are targeting.
Below is my review for these wonderful tools.

If your traffic is low, there are a few things you can do to increase your traffic.
Sometimes people think that the only way to get traffic is through Google. That can’t
be farther from the truth. There are so many ways you can increase your traffic.
I have an article called, List of Best Free Traffic Sources, that will open your eyes to
various ways of getting traffic to your site.
One of the unexploited gems of a traffic source is Pinterest. There are people who
get hundreds of thousands of pageviews from Pinterest. Unfortunately, most
bloggers are aware of the traffic potential of Pinterest.
8. The good thing about Pinterest is that it is a search engine too. It is a search engine
for images that you upload.
It is therefore important that you consider opening an account on Pinterest and be
active there. It could be the key to get the traffic you need to meet the requirements
of MediaVine and others.
Another source of traffic that has worked for me is Facebook. I have a few Facebook
pages. I have been very successful in one site where most of my traffic comes from
my Facebook page.
9. The only problem with Facebook is that to get traffic I have to post regularly. Its
search function rarely gets you decent traffic and is the quietest search engine if I
can call it that.
Because you rely on posting frequently you only benefit based on the number of
followers. You, therefore, need to get as many followers as you can as those are the
people most likely to see your posts.
On one page I have 7000 followers and I get an engagement figure of at least 1000
every time I post and 100 or 200 will go to my site.
And from my experience, it appears like the more likes I get the better my ranking in
Google. I am of course aware that Google says that social signals are not a ranking
figure. I am however beginning to think that social signals do help rankings.
Another thing you can do to get more traffic is to participate in Forums for your niche.
You will be surprised at the number of people that will click your link to your blog. It
all depends on the quality of your participation.
I would just advise anyone who wants to join forums to make sure that you
understand the terms and conditions of your participation. Otherwise, you may be
banned and end up losing all your posts.
Another underrated traffic source is the question and answers sites such as Quora.
What you do here to answer questions related to your niche and put a link in your
answers to your site.
I have noted recently that even Google is fond of ranking answers on sites like
Quora.
