This policy document provides a summary of our companyâs strategic aims for the
next three years. It should be read in conjunction with the Pathway Group Business
Development Plan 2013-2016 which sets out in more depth how we will be seeking
to advance employment opportunities and advance peoplesâ life prospects
generally as well as making a real diff erence to local communities.
Pathway Group will also be supporting the recovery and sustainable growth in the
capacity of the local economies where we are working particularly through quality
skills training that helps meet the skills needs of small and medium employers.

3. BUSINESS AIMS
AIM 1: To further develop our learning off ering for both unemployed people
and those already in employment.
Objectives:
⢠To incorporate ICT qualifi cations into our delivery; expand our e-learning options
⢠To embed and/or contextualise skills for life learning in the areas of Health and
Social Care including Child Care, Customer Services, Hospitality and Creative
Industries
⢠To further develop our vocational training services, specifi cally in the areas of
Customer Services, Health and Social Care, Child Care, Creative Industries and
Hospitality

5. ⢠To expand our employer brokerage and work placement services
⢠To prioritise training and personal development for client groups linked to
social objectives (including, working with priority groups e.g. those at risk or
currently redundant and groups under-represented in programmes including
Apprenticeships)
Key Performance Indicators:
⢠To achieve âPrimeâ contractor status by the end of 2015
⢠To achieve year on year increases in the number of at risk of redundancy/
unemployed clients engaged in re-training/ pre-employment training between
2013-2016
⢠To achieve year on year increases in the number of employer linkages between
2013-2016
⢠To achieve year on year increases in the number of Apprentices completing and
moving into sustainable employment between 2013-2016
AIM 2: To improve the employment and other life opportunities of
disadvantaged groups through quality information advice and guidance
services (IAG) on employment and welfare related issues.
Objectives:
⢠To achieve year on year increases in the numbers of clients accessing and
benefi tting from our IAG services between 2013-2016
⢠To expand the number of our staff with relevant IAG accreditations
⢠To retain our organisationâs matrix standard quality mark for both internal and
external advice services
⢠To enhance the eff ectiveness of our quality assurance audit systems to ensure
consistency in the monitoring and evaluation of our IAG services
⢠To identify and embed through staff development clear linkages between our
objectives for our advice services and the overall objectives for Pathway Group
Key Performance Indicators:
⢠To achieve year on year increases in the percentage of users of our advice
services taking up further education, training and employment between 2013-
2016
⢠To achieve a 30% increase in the number of IAG accreditations gained by
Pathway Group between 2013-2016
⢠To demonstrate through quantifi able evidence the improved effi cacy of our IAG
services

6. AIM 3: To raise the profi le and recognition of the Pathway Group brand by
employers, strategic bodies , a funders and major FE/Training providers
through the companyâs wider participation in networks, partnerships and
consortia based projects including capacity building activities within the third
sector
Objectives:
⢠To provide consultancy services and management services to other organisations
where we have an expertise or through our participation can achieve economies
of scale
⢠To be a valued and productive delivery partner within further education, training,
business and third sector networks
⢠To raise the profi le of Pathway Group with decision makers at local, regional and
national levels
Key Performance Indicators:
⢠To increase by 30% the volume (measured in days) of our consultancy services to
businesses including social enterprises by the end 2015
AIM 4: To make Pathway Group one of the top choices in which people want to
work and grow professionally
Objectives:
⢠To provide staff with the knowledge and skills to engage more eff ectively with
employers, partners and other stakeholders
⢠To develop a competency framework to support our human resources strategy
and succession planning processes through training programmes which ensure
that staff development is aligned with company objectives
⢠To champion good practice and celebrate the impact of our work
⢠To review our staff benefi ts package and continue to invest in staff development
Key Performance Indicators:
⢠To introduce at least one annual event to recognise and celebrate staff and
collective achievements by the end of 2013
⢠To achieve year on year incrementally positive feedback captured in the
monitoring framework which addresses levels of staff satisfaction and degree of
satisfaction in the support and supervision provided by managers

7. AIM 5: To access new markets and diversify Pathway Group funding streams to
expand our funding base
Objectives:
⢠To further develop a strategy in support of the business plan which is based on
funding programmes rather than programming funds
⢠To further develop an enterprise culture including increased customised support
to business start ups and small businesses
⢠To embed an enterprise culture at all levels of our organisation
⢠To extend the regional locations for our customised support programmes
including tailored pre-employment training to meet the needs of local
businesses
Key Performance Indicators:
⢠To extend our service delivery locations and work based learning to at least
three new regions or sub regions by the end of 2015
