Nutritional Support Training Courses is suitable for everyone working within the Health & Social Care sectors. The Learner will have the information they need to safely administer water and nutritional support via a PEG. Those participants who have previously undertaken training and demonstrated competence in administering medication will also receive the information they need to administer medication via a PEG. 1. Nutritional Support
Course Description:
This course is suitable for everyone working within the Health & Social Care sectors. The
Learner will have the information they need to safely administer water and nutritional
support via a PEG. Those participants who have previously undertaken training and
demonstrated competence in administering medication will also receive the information
they need to administer medication via a PEG.

Course Outline:
At the end of this course you will be able to:
• Explain the terms nutritional support, enteral nutrition and parenteral nutrition
• Give an overview of the three main types of nutritional support, how they are inserted,
indications, contra-indications and complications
• Describe how to flush a PEG, administer medication and set up a feed using a pump
• Make a list of the do’s and don’ts of nutritional support
• Discuss some of the ethical issues that could arise around providing nutritional support
