1.2 Job Description
My internship was built on a solid foundation of well-defined goals. The major benefit was
learning by doing in a professional setting. My internship gave me the practical experience in
civil engineering and building that I needed to begin my career. Being able to put into practice
what I had learned in class was invaluable in helping me grasp in project management.
Gaining employable skills was a primary focus of my internship. Technical abilities like managing
projects, solving issues, and teamwork are essential in the construction sector that will help me
to boost in my carrer. During this internship, I was able to hone my abilities and make great
progress by gaining practical experience.
My internship finally gave me the opportunity to make a real contribution to ongoing projects
at the company. It was insufficient to merely watch; contributions and ideas were sought. As a
bonus, I got to see personally how my work benefited the organization as a whole.
2. Details of Industrial Experience
I was able to expand my knowledge in civil engineering through an internship with Abdullah Ali
Almagayshi Corporation. I worked on a variety of road maintenance projects in Rabigh City and
the adjacent Rabigh Governorate throughout my 12-week internship.
2.1. Key Responsibilities and Roles:
1. Site Surveying: The condition of the roads was part of my job, so I had to regularly
inspect them. Accurate measurements, data collection, and thorough documentation of
the built environment were all necessary for this purpose.
2. Geotechnical Investigations: I participated in geotechnical investigations, which
included soil testing, to establish whether the land was suitable for construction and to
identify any difficulties with soil stability.
3. Structural Assessments: I was a part of the group that did the road checks and decided
what needed to be fixed or replaced. Bridges and other constructions' durability and
quality were evaluated.
4. Traffic Evaluations: I assisted in studies of Rabigh City's traffic patterns, congestion, and
rush hours to improve the city's transit system.
5. Environmental Impact Assessments: I ensured the durability of road maintenance
projects by conducting in-depth environmental assessments and recommending greener
alternatives to standard practises.
6. Budget Management: As a member of the project team, I was responsible for handling
the funds allocated to the upkeep of local roads. Predicting expenses, keeping tabs on
expenditure, and making necessary adjustments to reduce costs are all necessary.
7. Problem-Solving and Innovation: I worked closely with the planning team to identify
and fix problems with the project's advancement by applying my innovative thinking.
We needed to think through our options, pick the most promising ones, and act on
them in order to accomplish our goal.
8. Safety and Sustainability: I acknowledged the significance of sustainability and safety in
building engineering and actively engaged in safety audits. I now know more about
reducing the negative effects of human activity on the environment thanks to this event.
2.2. Skills Acquired:
 Technical Proficiency: In a variety of civil engineering specialisations, such as surveying,
geotechnical investigations, structural assessments, and traffic evaluations, I acquired
both technical knowledge and practical experience.

communication skills by emphasising the value of open and honest communication with
stakeholders and coworkers.
 Project Management: Focusing on financial planning and budget allocation, as a budget
supervisor, I improved my project management skills.
 Teamwork and Collaboration: My capacity to respect collaboration, cherish teammates'
viewpoints, and tolerate different points of view has improved as a result of working in
interdisciplinary teams.
 Adaptability and Flexibility: I improved my capacity to quickly adapt to changing
circumstances and project objectives—a critical aptitude in the ever-changing field of
civil engineering..
 Client-Centric Approach: Recognising and surpassing customer expectations by working
together to deliver customised solutions.
 Regulatory Compliance: negotiating and adhering to complex legal and regulatory
requirements in order to ensure the success of the project.
2.3 Personal Growth:
Not only did the internship help me develop my professional and technical skills, but it also
helped me grow personally. A strong feeling of self-reliance, time management, and discipline
prevailed. These attributes have improved my professional and personal growth.
3. Lessons Learned and Personal Growth
My internship at Abdullah Ali Almagayshi Co. in the field of civil engineering, particularly
focusing on road maintenance projects in Rabigh Governorate and Rabigh City was an
invaluable learning experience that not only expanded my technical knowledge but also
contributed significantly to my personal and professional growth. In this section, I will outline
the key lessons learned and the personal development achieved during this internship.
 Technical Proficiency: During my internship, I had the opportunity to learn and get
experience in a wide range of civil engineering specializations, including: site surveying;
geotechnical investigations; structural assessments; traffic evaluations; and environmental
impact assessments. Having become more adaptable, I've got a deeper understanding of civil
engineering's numerous components.
 Effective Communication: My ability to communicate effectively was honed through frequent
project meetings. I realised the value of being able to express myself lucidly, convey data clearly,
and listen attentively to my teammates. To ensure that the project's goals were understood and
carried out properly, open and honest communication was essential.
 Project Management: During my internship, the ability to manage a budget was crucial.
Working as a supervisor in project finance helped me develop skills in these areas. Now that I've
faced real-world financial obstacles, I see the value of strict budgeting for ensuring a project's
overall success.
 Problem-Solving and Innovation: I learned a great deal about problem-solving techniques
throughout my internship. As part of the planning team, I had to come up with creative
solutions to a number of development issues. I learnt to brainstorm potential answers, evaluate
their viability, and put into action the most viable options. I know this expertise will help me
immensely in my professional life.
 Teamwork and Collaboration:. I learned the importance of incorporating several people's
viewpoints and areas of expertise into the design process. Workplace harmony and efficiency
improved as a result of my newfound ability to value the opinions of my peers.
 Adaptability and Flexibility: There were always fresh obstacles to overcome and things to do,
so staying flexible was essential. Rapidly adapting to new circumstances, shifting objectives, and
evolving project specifications became second nature to me. I've learned to adapt, and it's a
talent I intend to hone further as my professional life progresses.
 Safety and Sustainability: Through these audits, I've gained a deeper appreciation for
protection as well as sustainability in the field of construction engineering. As an
engineer, I've come to understand the significance of reducing the environmental
impact of our operations. This realisation has inspired me to make sustainability an
integral part of all that I do going forward.
 Personal Growth: In addition to the practical skills, my internship taught me a lot about
responsibility and dedication. It helped me mature as a person by teaching me
discipline, and dedication on the job. I learned to rely on myself more, take
responsibility for my actions, and persevere in the face of adversity.
 Regulatory Compliance: During my internship, I realized how crucial it was to follow all rules
and regulations. Compliance with the numerous rules and norms that apply to civil engineering
projects is absolutely essential. I learned some useful strategies for negotiating the maze of
rules, licenses, and authorizations. Project success, the company's reputation, and the
avoidance of legal difficulties can all be enhanced by a better understanding of adherence to
legal standards.
 Adherence to Deadlines: I got the chance to see firsthand how important it is to complete
tasks by the deadline during my internship. In the field of civil engineering, promptness is
crucial, as any delay might lead to severe consequences. I am an expert at both rigorous
timeliness and careful planning, both of which are essential for finishing a task on schedule. This
competency is essential to the project's success and to preserving the client's trust.

