Even if we provide solar
solutions for electricity,
it is costly and difficult

 RGAVP is working to enhance the economic opportunities
and empowerment with focus on Women and marginalized
groups
 In Dungarpur District 5818 SHGs, 276 VO and & 4 CLF have
formed
 Million SoUL program of IIT Bombay – A Right to Light
initiative.
 Localization – Assembling, Usage & Repair Services by Local
Communities
Dungarpur Women SHGs could become solar solution provider, cheaper and
sustainable
SHGs women later became Dungarpur Solar Sahelis

8. Impact and Outcome
Dungerpur SoUL Program – by Tribal Women for Tribal Women
 40,000 Solar lamps were assembled,
sold and maintained, over 4 months
 Community using lamp for study,
cooking, milking, going to field, social
gatherings, etc.
 Rs. 5000-6000 per month average
income of each women.
 Rs. 80 Lakh revenue for CLFs
 Rs. 32 Lakh generated as profit (being
used to set up PV module
manufacturing, first of its kind in India)

9. Awareness & Stakeholder participation
Dungerpur SoUL Program – by Tribal Women for Tribal Women
 Both School level as well as HouseHold level campaigning was done
 Across district 75000 family have linked through SHGs. In meetings of Village
Organization (VOs), Distributors visited for promotion and awareness of the
Project
 Prior few days of distribution, distributors of each CLF had visited Schools for
promotion of Lamps.
 Sound campaigning, pamphlets were used for awareness and promotion in
each villages.

Based on success, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), GoI
has now funded project to provide solar lamps to 70,00,000 students across
BI, UP, AS, OD and JH

13. Convergence with existing schemes
Dungerpur SoUL Program – by Tribal Women for Tribal Women
 RGAVP registered as Society Act(1958)on 27.10.2011
 SHGs formation in Dungarpur district was start on 2012
 Total 5818 SHGs are formed and more than 75000 poor household have
joined.
 RGAVP is working with convergence of other government organization

 SoUL Project Dungarpur was tri-parties convergence among RGAVP-
Dungarpur, IIT Bombay and Cluster Level Federation (Supported by
RGAVP)-

14. Sustainability & Replicability
Dungerpur SoUL Program – by Tribal Women for Tribal Women
The Dungarpur model can be replicated in any State/District of India, where
there is no or erratic supply of electricity
 First of its kind in India, Solar Saheli’s are opening of DURGA
(Dungarpur Renewable Generating Association) Solar Module Manufacturing
Plant. Bhoomi Poojan was done on 26th Jan. 2017.
This plant offers a new focus for entrepreneurship model of meeting local
