How recognize object?
There are several ways that robots recognize
objects. Using camera, laser, and so on. Computer
analyze input data, and recognize objects.
Detail of image recognition
• Generally, image recognition using algorithm
and theory of pattern recognition.
What is pattern recognition?
• Pattern recognition is a way of dealing with
data. Input data are classified several
templates by classification.
Example of popular classification is
Neural network, support vector
machine, k-nearest neighbor
algorithm and so on.
These algorithm use machine
Learning.
Neural Network
Neural network are math model which work like
blain. Today, neural network is technology trend.
It able to solve difficult math issue in a few of
calculation amount.
What is machine learning?
• Machine learning’s algorithm estimate feature
of set of sample data. And it estimate new
input data. Machine learning is very
convenience. So it is used in several area.
Several Area using machine learning
• Engine of finding
• Robot
• Tactics of game
• Economics
• Medical
Relation
• These way, pattern recognition relate several
research area. Image recognition use several
algorithm in several research area.
SLAM
• Also some object recognition system use
SLAM.
What is SLAM?
• SLAM is abbreviation for Simultaneous
Localization and Mapping.
It is estimating localization which robot be in,
and mapping.
How to use SLAM?
• Object recognition system use SLAM to
argument existing object.
• Robot use this to avoid object before camera
which is mounted on robot feel object.
Kind of SLAM (1)
• Landmark based SLAM
Landmark based SLAM focus on estimating
location where robot be in. Robot recognizes
characteristic object as landmark, and mapping
Kind of SLAM (2)
• Grid based SLAM
Grid based SLAM focus on mapping. Robot
construct map of grid, and it reflect information
of location where robot be in and characteristic
point.
Important device to do SLAM
• Laser range scanner
• Camera
• Encoder
• Microphone
Conclusion
• Engineer use several technology to develop
object recognition.
• Pattern recognition and machine learning are
very convenient and these are technology
trend.
• SLAM is very useful for autonomous robot.
