Ruel G. Manzano conducted a survey asking parents what characteristics they want to see in their child's teacher. Parents responded that they want teachers to be compassionate, cooperative, engaging, generous, joyful, and trustworthy. They also want teachers to use interactive teaching strategies like debates, role plays, think-pair-share activities, and ice breakers. Parents hope their children learn basic academic skills as well as mathematics, English, social studies, and science. They also want to see a positive learning environment when visiting the school.
