An attempt to emphaisize on urgent need to realise the global warming and shift ourselves to Sustainable Living. This is compilation of data collected from several websites to impress on the audience the need for urgent action. We have to write our future and orient ourselves for tomorrow to be better.

Energy Sector - Sustainable Energy
Sustainable Energy is energy that is consumed at insignificant rates compared to
its supply and with manageable collateral effects, especially environmental
effects.
Another common definition of sustainable energy is an energy system that serves
the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to
meet their needs.
Technologies that promote sustainable energy include renewable energy sources
such as hydroelectricity, solar energy, wind energy, wave power, geothermal
energy, bioenergy, tidal power and also technologies designed to improve energy
efficiency.
However, in the long term, nuclear fission technology is the only developed energy
source that is capable of delivering the enormous quantities of energy.

Rapid Rise in CO2 - Global Warming
15. tomorrow should be better Slide 15 of 60Aug 09, 2018
Several Debates, if the Global warming is Due to
Natural or Human Activities related and so on…
Now it is proven but we are lethargic to act…
• If we do not act it is irreversible and hard to rise
up to the requirement to avoid Catastrophe
ILL TREAT/ABUSE the only Home we have!!!

The Threat…
• The atmospheric concentration of CO2 has never
been greater than ~300 ppm for the past
400,000 years
• The last time CO2 concentrations reached
550ppm was 230 million years ago….
• Fossil records show 90% of species on earth
became extinct
• Lifetime of CO2 In the Atmosphere Is Between
500 and 5,000 Years
• What we do in the next 50 Years will
Fundamentally change our Atmosphere for a
Time Comparable to Modern Human History

• Worldwide Oil Resources are Estimated at ~ 50
Years
• Worldwide Coal Resources are Estimated at ~
200 Years
• Natural resources are currently being demanded
at 40% higher rate than what Earth can
regenerate and absorb
• The negative effects of indiscriminate use of
natural resources can be seen in many forms
during every walk of our life

Worldwide Nuclear Power Reactors
• There are about 442 nuclear power reactors in 31
countries.
• 30 more are under construction.
• They account for 16% of the world’s electricity.
• They produce a total of 351 gigawatts (billion
watts) of electricity.

Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster
• Initiated by Tsunami: primarily by
the tsunami following the Tōhoku earthquake on
11 March 2011 Immediately after the
earthquake, the active reactors automatically
shut down their sustained fission reactions
• Causes are due to not meting basic
requirements: It found that the causes of the
accident had been foreseeable, and that the
plant operator, Tokyo Electric Power
Company (TEPCO), had failed to meet basic
safety requirements
