Editor's Notes
- Introduction and welcome everyone. Recognise any dignitaries? Explain format of the evening – grab some food and a drink, toilets etc. Speaker introduce yourself and your rotary experience. PE etc. Why they’re here. Purpose of meeting is to showcase Rotary in our community and further afield and ask you to consider joining us as a member.
- Pres Sheila – welcome. Brief information about the club – age, demographic, brief overview of what we do (others will expand on this later) Little about RI - >100yrs old, size of district – clubs and geographically) People join Rotary for many reasons including community involvement, personal development, professional networking, and camaraderie. But perhaps the most important benefit is the satisfaction you gain from making a real difference in your community and in the world.
- Rotary brings together – people like you – from all walks of life – who want to use their expertise for good. People whose sense of responsibility inspires them to give back to their communities. At Rotary, we connect for good and form lifelong friendships in the process. Together – we empower youth, improve health, promote peace, and advance our communities in all corners of the globe. With 1.2 million members in 34000 clubs worldwide – our global community’s impact has never been greater – and it continues to grow. Belonging to a rotary club provides members with an opportunity to give back to their communities and to connect with like-minded leaders and friends. Here is one of 4 short films we have which illustrate Rotary around the world today
- Carindale Rotary has committed $5000 to reconstruction efforts in the Philippines (along with a previous donation of a Shelter Box).These funds will support the reconstruction of houses for shelter and fishing boats on the Island of Negros.... Our first stage was to transfer funds for the construction of two fishing boats, so the locals can get back to earning their livelihoods. These were built immediately, giving us confidence that the Foundation does manage funds effectively and that outcomes are achieved. These boats have been named Rotary Club of Carindale 1 and 2.
- Meskele Kristos is a poor village in Northern Ethiopia – a world families australia project where donations we have sent have been used to build a library in the village and supply with new books and learning materials

- Scott Sullivan is a 39 year old vibrant, fun-loving and energetic husband and father of two young children. On October 22, 2010 he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) – a disease with no known cause, no known cure and no effective treatment. His life expectancy is 3-5 years. Our Vision: A quality of life for people living with MND which is not compromised by their diagnosis - a life with dignity and independence.
