Article 1:
Team Leadership/Management Style
Part 1: According to the Sarin and O’Connor (2009) article, certain style and goal structures of team leaders have a strong influence on internal team dynamics. Based on your research within the article and textbook, as well as your own experience, what team leader management style would be most effective in leading a team in which you were a member?
Part 2: DeRue, Barnes, and Morgeson (2010) found that team leadership style effectiveness depended on the level of charisma exhibited by the leader. Drawing from the article and the textbook, have you ever worked for a charismatic leader? What style (coaching or directing) did that leader administer? Was he or she effective in leading you as part of the team?
Answer:
Part 1:
Participative leadership style would have been the best management style for our team which was working on a project to improve our e-commerce platform. With participative leadership style, team leaders have an opportunity to involve their team members in the decision-making process, consult their team members and ask for their inputs. Participative leadership generates a special type of trust that enables team members to take ownership and the responsibility of the project outcomes (DeRue et al., 2010).
An effective team management style has much impact on the internal dynamics of a team. Communication behaviors, collaboration and conflict resolution strategies are the key elements of the internal dynamics of a team. Communication involves the exchange of information between individuals working in a team. High communication quality and frequency have been associated with greater team performance and productivity. Collaboration is the extent to which individuals within a team work together to accomplish a particular task. Since a team is made of individuals with different perspectives and functional backgrounds, the probability of conflict is very high hence the need to incorporate conflict resolution strategies (DeRue et al., 2010).
Part 2:
According to (Sarin & O'Connor, 2009), a charismatic leader is the one who uses personal abilities to induce extraordinary influence on his followers. They are skilled at upgrading the performance of the team and seek radical reforms to accomplish the goals efficiently. I have been working for a charismatic leader for two years now.
He has been effective in leading our team since we promptly meet the goals and objectives of our team. Also, team members have high emotional attachment and involvement with him. Lastly, we experience high job satisfaction which is much essential in developing an effective team. This results in low-stress levels and low job burn out since members of the team have an opportunity to work by themselves without micro-managing.

PART1
According to Sarin s. et al., (2009) a team leader is a person
who has the most important role of creating a work environment
inside a team who will not only motivate them but is also
responsible for their behavior towards the team. Organizations
are led by the managers with good leadership qualities who is
responsible for generating wealth and employment for the
companies which also depends on their behavior which should
be responsible and sustainable Alonso‐Almeida et al., (2017) A
team leader with strong leading and management skills will
contribute very much towards the success of the team. However
different types of leadership management styles are suitable for
different types of team structures.
3. Previously I have worked in a very small team which consisted
of 4 members. Due to some circumstances, additional team
members were not allotted to the team and huge amounts of
work had to be done by us. In this situation, our manager has
displayed participative and supportive leadership qualities
which were most effective. participative leadership allows the
team members to be involved greatly in the decision-making
process before taking the final decisions. Whereas in supportive
leadership, the team leader takes care of the wellbeing of the
team members which shows the persons respect towards the
members. This will create a healthy working environment. Sarin
s. et al., (2009). These two kinds of leadership have helped the
team greatly to perform under stress as everyone were given
importance as well as their decisions.
PART2
According to D. Scott DeRue et al. (2010). charismatic leaders
are persons who whose personal abilities have an aura and
creates an extraordinary and ardent impression among their
followers. In other words, leaders with such charisma act as the
means of change who bring about great improvements in the
performance of the members through profound changes or
implementations in his methods. I have previously worked with
a manager with charisma who I really admire for his qualities.
He followed the coaching approach for the team where we were
encouraged to take responsibility for the tasks assigned to us.
Our mistakes were treated as a learning experience and were
encouraged to perform better for the next tasks. There was no
micromanagement which made us perform better.

Communication Techniques
Part 1
Your submission did not analyze the target audience of the
selected communication. Hence; that Critical Element (per
assignment rubric) was not met. Points for overall effort
5. It is evident that from the Boldflash case study there is a
problem in communication in the company. However, various
methods could be used in collaboration and communication and
they could be implemented in the Mobile Division as training.
From the case, it is evident that there is a problem when it
comes to business processes and this is mainly caused by poor
communication. The first method that could be used is
connecting with the team members. There is need for trust and
communication in a bid to ensure that the project team has a
high functionality (Clarizen, 2018). When there is good
communication among the employees, it will be easier for them
to know what is to be done at a certain period and in case there
are any changes, they will know about it. In Boldflash, the
employees could be trained on good communication strategies
in the mobile division. For example, they could be taught how
to use the E-mail and how they could be professional in their
communication methods.
The second method that could be used is with online project
collaboration software. It is factual that harnessing the power
cloud- based project management software could improve
collaboration within a team. In the case of mobile division, the
employees could be taught on how to use this software and
when they should use it (Clarizen, 2018). The primary reason
for the training is that using collaborative software is not easy
since there are systems that are being cloud- based meaning
centralized storage.
In addition to that, the target audience for the communication
method is (t6he) Grammatical error employees. The employees
are the people who create a product and they have a role to
communicate with the customers within a firm. Therefore, in
this case, they are the target audience to the communication
methods. From the case study and the artifacts that are provided
the target, audience has various characteristics. They have to
have a similar organizational agenda where they must be aware
of the missions, visions and organizational goals. Additionally
the target audience also has Grammatical error (to0) come from
6. diverse backgrounds (Clarizen, 2018). The main aim of this is
to ensure that there is exchange of ideas in a bid to make the
company carry out its activities in a unique manner. The target
audience should also have different perspectives of certain
things. It is true that people are different and they have
different thoughts. In the same context, it is true that they have
different thoughts and beliefs and this will help them in their
work. Another characteristic is that they should behave
ethically. This means that they should always have ethical
considerations and they should have a good conduct.
The intended message that needs to be delivered is on the
activities in which the employees have to take part in for them
to ensure that they deliver goods timely, they produce good
quality products, the products are cost effective and they are
efficient. They have also to communicate and get to know how
they can help improve customer satisfaction (Highly improper -
first name should not be used. Please see the APA Manual for
proper formats (Bhattacharyya, n.d). That message holds
pertinence for the intended audience since it helps them know
what they have to do in a bid to ensure that the organization’s
goals are reached. The message matters for the target audience
since it acts as a guide on how they should carry out their
activities.
(Good effort – But, while you determined the importance of the
intended message for the target audience, narrative lacks detail
that may impact accuracy of determination.)
Technical communication will be successful in delivering the
intended message. It is evident that technical communication
acts as a way of conveying information to other people. Some
people have been designated as technical communicators who
help in relaying information. They may also put the data they
capture into paper and they may digitally store text, audio and
video (Highly improper - first name should not be used. Should
be APA style for proper formats , (Bhattacharyya, n.d).
7. Technical communication will help in laying down the
necessary information for it to reach the target audience. This is
because it helps make the information to be more reliable and it
helps more information to reach many people over a short
period. This could be told by the way people are attending to
their daily activities and how they are responsive to issues.
There are key steps for this framework. They include; first
targeting the audience who are going to be communicated to.
The next step involves choosing the right communication
technique for communicating to the people. The other step
involves knowing the pros and cons of each of the
communication technique and deciding on the one that is more
accurate. It is also evident that there are various ways of
knowing whether a communication strategy is accurate or not.
(Good effort; but while you made effort at assessing the extent
to which existing communication was successful in delivering
the intended message, with explanation as to the reasoning; the
assessment and explanation lacks necessary detail.)
Per clearly stated directives, part 2 of this assignment was
supposed to be submitted separately! Part 2
The training on taking on a communication practice is
undertaken in the firm. The first way is through develop and not
just training. Training involves developing people and ensuring
that they come out of the training better than they were when
they were beginning the training. The development helps them
to come up with new inventions to help the company become
better than other company (McKeown, n.d). The company could
also use tutorials to help people. This would help people learn
about how to do a certain task through a step-to-step procedure.
The company could use YouTube tutorials or they could also
create theirs.
Additionally, another training method that could be used is role-
playing. In this case, the person who is training the employees
could take part in a task as a way of showing the employees
what to do and what not to do (McKeown, n.d). This is actually
8. a method that will yield the best results. The reason is that the
trainees tend to see what the trainer wants from them and then
they follow what he is doing. Therefore, there is little room for
creation of mistakes.
Technical communication can be adapted using various ways.
The first involves learning more about the company, the target
audience and their expectations. After this, there is a need to
look at what the company wants and the resources it has to
make sure that a company adopts that technical communication.
This will help them to successfully meet the needs of the target
audience and it will help them to make the businesses process
better.
In a bid to adapt more to the communication practice, we hired
technicians to help repair the communication services in case
they broke down. This would help prevent a situation where
things were at hold in the company due to lack of precise
communication services (McKeown, n.d). The other thing we
did was to hire some professionals who would help train our
employees on how to use the new communication techniques
and when they were to use it. They were to also learn how to
use the right language to communicate and how to enhance
professionalism during the conservation.
Per this written report contents, you did not adapt the
communication artifact to better meet the needs of target
audience. Hence; that Critical Element (per assignment rubric)
was not met. Points for overall effort
The workers were to also learn on how to adapt to the new
modes of communication. First, the firm’s top management
would call them for a meeting and they would teach them on the
values they should have being workers of the company
(McKeown, n.d). For instance, they should be open- minded and
embrace every technological advancement that comes up with it.
For instance, on the case of technical communication, the
employees could embrace the ways of communicating as well as
9. going ahead and giving ideas of ways of improving it.
Good effort; but, per written report contents, while
you articulated the process behind the adaptation and how the
guidelines were applied, there are gaps in detail, clarity, or
accuracy.

BOLDFlash – Internal Business Process Artifacts
After several months on the job, Roger Cahill called a meeting
with all department
heads and stated:
Having had the chance to observe operations now for several
months, it is
obvious to me that we do not have sound business processes in
place in a great
many areas. We are creating problems for ourselves that are
impacting product
quality, delivery timeliness, efficiency, costs, and, my greatest
concern, customer
satisfaction.
Competition within our marketplace is heating up, and we need
to quickly get on
top of our processes to regain the confidence of our customers
and make
BOLDFlash their first choice when purchasing.
Cahill then presented examples of the internal business
processes in use at
BOLDFlash. To highlight the broad nature of the problem
throughout the Mobile
16. Division, he presented troublesome process examples from
every department. (A
subset of the examples follows.)
To reinforce the importance of establishing solid business
processes, Cahill closed by
saying:
Within the next 45 days, we will focus on establishing clear,
efficient, defined
business processes and gain agreement on these processes
among all
departments. This is now your top priority.
As you read the following process-related memos, consider how
other department
heads and their staff members might interpret the processes
being introduced or
revised and what their reaction might be. Also consider whether
the communications
are clear, unambiguous, and workable. Are there gaps or
assumptions? Are there any
common themes among the memos?

17. BOLD
From: Karl Melzer - Director, Product Development
To: All department heads
Subject: Revised R&D product release process
R&D is making changes to the product release process so that
we can reduce the time we’re spending
on putting this together.
The new manufacturing package will no longer include special
notes, because we already send these to
Kevin’s admin assistant. We’re also dropping the product
documentation because that’s sitting on a
server so already out there.
The manufacturing package will now be made available 5
business days prior to production start. I know
this puts a squeeze on Mfg., but we always need more time to
work on it.
Finally, I’m directing my staff to no longer respond to questions
coming on from Tech Support prior to
actual product release date. We are continually crunched for
time and need to move on to the next
product release as quickly as possible.

From: Chip Bryant - Director, Sales
To: All department heads
Subject: Product delivery commitment process
We have been running into problems with customer orders
where requested delivery dates are not
being met—a very hot topic at a recent Sales staff meeting. So
to eliminate the problem going forward,
we are implementing the following process beginning
immediately.
Sales reps will check in with Manufacturing on product
availability against our requested ship date. If we
don’t hear anything back within 2 business days, we will
assume that the order can be filled and shipped
per our requested date, and we’ll confirm back to the customer.

BOLD
From: Kavita Patel - Director, Marketing
To: All department heads
Subject: Product enhancements
Representatives from Marketing have been attending a number
of industry trade shows this season. We
are receiving a lot of feedback that customers are looking for
more enhancements to existing products.
We are also seeing our competitors paying more attention to
enhancements.
I have directed my staff to focus on identifying enhancements
that we can make, particularly to our new
flash drive line. We’re going to look at enhancements that can
generate some “flash” in the marketplace
for our product!
20. Time is of the essence with these new enhancements. We are
confident we can keep these changes
simple and not rock the boat too much. So that we can speed
this along, the team will feed those
requirements directly to Manufacturing.
This new approach will give us a great story for our upcoming
trade show in Las Vegas, so I know
everyone will be behind us in this!
