HOW MANY PROJECTS
DO I NEED TO DO?
 The number of projects in
the back of your diary is a
GUIDELINE. Some longer
activities may count as 2-3
projects.
 Every project MUST be
approved by Miss Oxley or
Miss Ronalds
 We would like you to try and
have a range of short
projects together with at
least 1 longer project e.g. A
club you are part of or a
weekly commitment you
make for several months.
 You should be aiming to
meet at LEAST 1 learning
activity with each project
you do
WHERE DO I GO FROM
HERE?
 First things first READ THE NOTICEBOARD!!!!
 Check if there are any jobs, events or activities there
that interest you
 Use the suggested websites to do your own research
and come up with some project ideas
WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE
A PROJECT IDEA?
 GREAT! Grab a project proposal form from the Notice-board,
fill it out and drop it in with Miss Oxley or Miss Ronalds during
the scheduled times.
 Talk to the Community & Services ICT team and see if
someone is available to photograph and/or video your activity,
event or project so we can upload it to our Community &
Service Blog page
 DON’T FORGET TO REFLECT ON YOUR TIME SPENT DOING
COMMUNITY & SERVICE ACTIVITIES!
 In the back of your diary there is a reflection section – please
use this to note down your thoughts after you’ve completed a
project. If you would like to write a blog post about your
project please speak to the ICT team.

  • 2. WHAT IS COMMUNITY & SERVICE?  AN UNPAID SERVICE WHERE YOU HELP OTHERS BY VOLUNTEERING YOUR TIME  DEVELOPING COMMUNITY AWARENESS. THIS CAN BE LOCAL (DUBAI), NATIONAL (UAE) OR GLOBAL (THE WHOLE WORLD!)

LEARNING OUTCOME #1 Strengths & Weaknesses  I have increased my strength in a skill I already had  e.g. I have learnt new skills in football  I have recognized an area I can improve on  I’m not very good at public speaking but I’ve had to get better because I’m teaching other kids football skills
  • 5. LEARNING OUTCOME #2 Challenges  I have taken on a new challenge  E.g. I’ve never been involved with any kind of sport before but I want to try something new  I’ve challenged myself  E.g. I don’t like running much but I ran a half marathon for a charity
  • 6. LEARNING OUTCOME #3 Organization  I have been responsible for organizing an event, activity or project  E.g. My friend and I planned a lunchtime activity for other students  I have organized a group of people  E.g. I was the leader and in charge of organizing a project by myself or with a friend
  • 7. LEARNING OUTCOME #4 Collaboration  I have worked together with other people in a team  E.g. I have done a project with a friend or as part of a bigger team  I have developed skills in order to work with other people  E.g. Even if I don’t agree with everyone’s opinions I have worked together to find solutions
  • 8. LEARNING OUTCOME #5 Commitment  I have shown commitment to a project  E.g. I have volunteered my time outside of school hours to a project, event or activity  I have shown long term commitment to a project  E.g. I have volunteered my time for a project over a month, semester or year
  • 9. LEARNING OUTCOME #6 New Skills  I have learnt a new skill through an activity I already do  E.g. I play basketball but I recently learnt to dribble with my left hand  I have learnt a COMPLETELY new skill  E.g. I’ve never played basketball before but I’ve just started!
  • 10. HOW MANY PROJECTS DO I NEED TO DO?  The number of projects in the back of your diary is a GUIDELINE. Some longer activities may count as 2-3 projects.  Every project MUST be approved by Miss Oxley or Miss Ronalds  We would like you to try and have a range of short projects together with at least 1 longer project e.g. A club you are part of or a weekly commitment you make for several months.  You should be aiming to meet at LEAST 1 learning activity with each project you do
  • 11. WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?  First things first READ THE NOTICEBOARD!!!!  Check if there are any jobs, events or activities there that interest you  Use the suggested websites to do your own research and come up with some project ideas
  • 12. WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE A PROJECT IDEA?  GREAT! Grab a project proposal form from the Notice-board, fill it out and drop it in with Miss Oxley or Miss Ronalds during the scheduled times.  Talk to the Community & Services ICT team and see if someone is available to photograph and/or video your activity, event or project so we can upload it to our Community & Service Blog page  DON’T FORGET TO REFLECT ON YOUR TIME SPENT DOING COMMUNITY & SERVICE ACTIVITIES!  In the back of your diary there is a reflection section – please use this to note down your thoughts after you’ve completed a project. If you would like to write a blog post about your project please speak to the ICT team.
